We came to this restaurant because Fern was closed and we had an awful experience with inroom dining. The food was just awful. The arugula salad was salty and gritty so we sent that back, the pasta had no flavor and no salt. It reminded me of airplane food to be honest. The filet mignon was not a filet but two thin slices of beef off a tenderloin that were extremely overcooked. After our waiter said he was sorry and offered a 15% discount we were still hungry and wanted dessert. We ordered the bread pudding and it was more like a slice of banana bread. Also they put a pumpernickel crouton on top! I can't believe such a fine resort would have such a terrible restaurant. I'm shocked!
Go to Fern for dinner. Beach club ok for lunch but forget this place for dinner
My rib-eye is now the third best steak I have ever dined on. I'm 55 and love steaks. Interesting and very cool unique way of service. While we did have a specific server dedicated to us, everyone of the wait staff acted as though that was their role. The primary one took our drink order and appetizers, another actually took the main course. I never saw the bottom of my glass until I said stop.
We arrived with low expectations because of poor reviews we had seen on line. It was even worse than we imagined. The food - cheeseburgers - were fine. The fries were tasty. But the service was slow and erratic. The low point was being told by the server that two different $40/$45 bottles of wine we asked for were sold out. When we complained to the manager he said they had plenty. Uninformed server or was she trying to up sell us? At a St Regis property I would not expect either. The resort is lovely but as another guest put it in our mutual golf cart ride back to the main hotel from dinner - you feel claustrophobic here because there are so few restaurants to choose from. You're captive so they can treat you however they please. Oh and did I mention the air conditioning dripping on my husband? I'd stick to the Vanderbilt in San Juan.
The scallop appetizer was one of the best scallop dishes I've ever had.
This used to be a great restaurant! After they changed the name, something went wrong: the menu changed significantly (the menu on 'open table' is not updated as mid March) - basically there is nothing in the menu to order aside from salads as appetizers (salads which you could have at any other restaurant) or no more than 6-7 dishes as main course (again, nothing you could have at any other restaurant). The quality of the food was not quite good: we ordered grouper and was something wrong with the fish as was tasting really salty and definitely 'spent a lot of time in the freezer' before was served. In top of that the service was very slow - a lot of personnel / waitresses as it was hard to know who is serving what, but nobody seems 'to be in charge' with one table at a time.
Please do yourself a favor and avoid this restaurant as much as you can until they will bring it back to what used to be!
We started off by getting water very quickly, then about 5-10 minutes later we ordered 3 glasses of wine. After waiting 35 minutes our wine arrived at the table. Considering we ordered pretty quickly, it seems odd that we didn't have our food over and hour after arriving at the restaurant. After speaking to a manager, who was very polite, our food came quickly. The manager said he would remove one glass of wine from our check to makeup for the delays. After signing the check, which was our fault, we realized the glass of wine hasn't been removed. The waitress seemed very unconcerned with the horrible service. She was very nice, but this is hr worst service I have received from any restaurant in a very long time, much less for a restaurant which is part of the St. Regis.
Had a great tasty lunch with tuna and turkey sandwiches. Sandwiches and salads were very well done and reasonably priced compared to what we have paid at other places nearby for fair food. Great change of pace and beautiful property. Madeline's service was excellent and her recommendations were appreciated.
Perfect in every way
Hector our server was great...very friendly
