Welcome to the oldest tavern in Chelmsford
For almost 250 years The Bay Horse has welcomed guests to this beautiful Grade II listed Tudor tavern. Set in the heart of historic Moulsham Street, the building has been lovingly restored and renovated, combining modern design with period features to create a bright and airy space.

Our incredible chefs are passionate about great food. Everything is cooked fresh to order, and where possible, we use organic and locally-sourced ingredients. Our à la carte menu features the best gastro-pub favourites, and our lunch menu boasts an array of jackets, sandwiches and baguettes. Famed for our award-winning roasts, our Sunday lunches are simply divine, and for those lazy days, we offer beautiful afternoon teas.
