Beautiful setting, lovely food. But car park was full (therefore tiresome to find and walk from public parking) and cushions needed on the bench seating (offered when requested)

The food was excellent but the menu selection is very limited and not necessarily as posted on their webpage. The service was pleasant but not very attentive. Take car VAT is not included in the menu prices. We have experienced better than this previously.

Awful place , maybe 20 years ago, Bath priory had a good name, that is long gone in my opinion. I booked here to start my partners 40 th celebrations off with some lunch and a glass of champagne . The table we were placed had a lovely view of the garden, but the whole of the windowsill was covered in dead flies. The food itself was extremely overpriced for what it was . I had a beetroot and walnut salad . Poor , would buy a cheaper and more impressive salad at marks and Spencer’s . My partners cheese “sharing board”, was tiny and the cheese was cut with same knife as the beetroot, giving the cheese a pink stain. Lack of care in opinion . All for grand price of 78.00 ( 2 glasses of champagne also , and that was lovely , The waitress we had , was pleasant enough, but was way more attentive to the table opposite. They were clearly regulars and were spending a fair amount of money. Wouldn’t recommend and definitely wouldn’t return, such a shame. A place that had a great name back in the day, no longer exists today.

We arrived very early for our scheduled tea time, so the staff allowed us to sit outside on the terrace and enjoy the sun and garden. When our reservation time came around the waiter brought our chosen teas. The teas were fabulous. Unfortunately it took them over 30 minutes to bring out the tea sandwiches & pastries by which time I was finished with my tea & my daughter's tea was cold. My 4 sandwiches had 2 chicken ones bc of asking to not get egg salad. The chichen sandwiches were tasteless simply chicken & butter without any seasoning. The small desserts were ok but not outstanding in any way, and the hot items were a sausage roll bite which was luke warm, but tasty, and a quiche which looked and tasted as if it had been made days ago. At that point the waiter asked if we wanted more tea & scones, we said yes and picked another tea. We waited and waited, and waited. Neither tea nor scones arrived. After 30 minutes the manager came by to check that everything was satisfactory. We explained and asked for the bill. He apologized and packed us scones to go. When we arrived back home, we opened the scone box to find that one cream was missing a lid completely & jam containers lids were not affixed properly so there was cream & jam all through the box and the scones were soggy and a mess. All in all a terrible experience!!!

Lovely hotel and tea was served in a very traditional living room that was well adorned creating a luxurious British ambiance. Food was ok, and what you would expect. Would have given the food another star if the sandwiches were not freezing cold. They tasted like they had been sitting in the fridge for some time and were very cold and not too flavorful. We also suspect they accidentally used sugar instead of salt as the egg salad was extremely sweet (unless that’s how Brits normally eat them). Service was not as attentive as we would have expected and we did have an issue with someone smoking in the doorway leading to the outside which ruined what would have been a nice experience. Charming hotel but I would not go back again.

Thank you Bora for your feedback and we shall share with the chefs. We are sorry that other guest smoking in the doorway which ruined the whole experience.

Booked afternoon tea for my mums birthday - staff were very friendly however service was very slow, we had to prompt them to take our order an hour after arriving. We were given some complimentary champagne as an apology (however my mum doesn’t drink alcohol so was offered a complimentary mocktail instead - which we were actually charged for) I have a severe nut allergy which I made staff aware of on booking, called the hotel the morning of the booking to remind them again and mentioned it again when arriving and ordering. However the afternoon tea brought out contained 2x almond cakes (had the waiter not explained what was in the afternoon tea we would not have known that the cakes contained nuts) and they then come back with alternative afternoon tea selection and claimed it was a “mistake in the kitchen” Afternoon tea food was pleasant, however cheese scones were extremely salty and regular scones quite dry and without much flavour. Setting was beautiful and mocktails were very lovely. Unfortunately was quite disappointed and not worth £100.

Dear Victoria, we are very sorry to know the afternoon tea experience was not as great as we would have liked. We do welcome your feedback and have shared your comment with the teams. We are glad that you enjoyed the setting and the mocktails. We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

A fantastic experience, from drinks on the terrace overlooking the beautiful gardens and then in to dinner. A stunningly presented meal, each dish a picture but also delicious. Friendly service at a relaxing pace which gave us a relaxed and enjoyable evening. A short stroll round the garden before tea in the lounge ending with a few games of dominoes. Would love to visit again.

Wanted to book an afternoon tea for my parents birthdays and picked The Priory due to the traditional menu. The whole experience was just a joy, the staff were all lovely and attentive. The afternoon was really delicious with unlimited tea and there was no time limit to how long we had so we could enjoy the ambiance of the hotel and enjoy the food. We went for a lovely walk around the grounds afterwards which just finished the afternoon off perfectly. Would certainly recommend this for a special birthday.
