The Basin has several dining areas for your enjoyment—the main dining room and bar, the candle lit den, and the patio under our 200-year-old oak tree’s canopy of leaves—along with a full service bar.
Our restaurant takes “family” to heart, by ensuring all guests, as well as our associates are treated like family, from the moment they walk through the door, until we say “Goodbye, until next time!”
Another family gathering at The Basin. With new owners we find it just as wonderful as always. The staff was very accommodating in understanding the late arrival of 4 of our 7 party members. The dining room was full and they quickly accommodated us in their back room which was great. The service and food were outstanding.
The place has changed owners and because of that change the food tasted drastically different. I had been looking so forward to a great evening with amazing food only to be let down. The menu has stayed the same but the chef did not prepare the food in the same way. It was my favorite restaurant in the Bay Area but sadly I won’t be going back.
12 of us celebrated my son’s 24th birthday! The atmosphere was exactly right, but the food was just incredible! We all shared the ahi tartar and the Brussel sprouts, and the consensus for each and both was “Outstanding!” We were also lucky enough to share several of the desserts, and it would be very difficult to choose my favorite — except I am a chocoholic and “Good Lord!” That was amazing! The staff was young but professional, friendly, flexible, and attentive! I will definitely return — often!

My friends and I hadn’t been to the basin since the change of ownership. We were pleasantly surprised with the food. The ahi tartare and garlic shrimp appetizers were fresh and not overly sauced or seasoned. The table had the New York, salmon and amazing spring pea risotto and the chicken. All were excellent. We will definitely be back soon. The owner is currently working to update the interior which is needed. I look forward to returning.
First time dining here. The ambiance is nice and relaxed. The service was very good and friendly although I think we may have had a couple of new bus person/waiter assistants because they were over zealous about taking away plates still in use and didn't bring extra plates for shared entrees. That was easily remedied. The food was great, fresh, and well presented. The bar staff was friendly and fun. Will definitely be returning.
We ate on the outside patio with the big oak tree. The heaters were perfect, and there was just one other couple on the patio. Daniel (Co-owner and chef) did a fabulous job attending to my wife’s dietary restrictions. Steven was very attentive to our needs. Food was perfectly prepared and very tasty.
Much better experience under the new chef and management team (started July ‘19).
The atmosphere is perfect for a special night out, a business event, or just a fun meal with friends. Impeccable and friendly service. Outstanding food.
The food was amazing, our server, food runner, and busser were fantastic, prompt, attentive, and well paced. The only slight distraction was the manager seemed a bit confused and unorganised. She had a great staff that helped her through things, but there was lot's of last minute table set up changes and some confusion as to how to do things. We really enjoyed our evening over all. Best place in Saratoga!
My husband and I had a wonderful dining experience for Valentines Day! We were seated right away with our reservations and we were impressed by such great service.
We had the garlic prawns appetizer, and had the scallops and steak dinners. The food was excellent!
The food and service was great. We got seated in the back room and my wife felt like our table was surrounded by everyone, she felt a little uncomfortable with that. We would definitely come back again.
Menu was not as imaginative as in the past. Stii a nice place for a romantic dinner.

Slow and inattentive service. Food was mediocre.
It was overall good, however, two of the four of us had pasta dishes that arrived cold. We were both with clients and didn't want to complain and risk them sitting there letting their items get cold while ours got reheated, so we just ate it cold. Disappointing, considering the cost to make the dish vs amount charged. I generally really like the Basin but find on busy nights, it's rarely at its best. We also weren't asked if we were interested in dessert; just received the bill. Better luck next time . . .
It's been a disappointing transition since Andrew left The Basin. The service factor really needs to be evaluated.
Very cozy, friendly and helpful in accommodating our little kids. They brought appear and crayons and great booster seats that made our kids feel very included. We had a lovely evening.
Very good and fast service! The waiter, Juan, was very polite, helpful and offered great service. The food was delivered relatively quickly and was delicious. I would highly recommend this place.

Delicious food, service and noise level were fine on a busy Saturday night.
Black Manhattan was perfect. Beet salad had lots of beets, good thing. Scallops were properly cooked and the beluga lentils were a creative addition. My friend's sea bass was marvelous.
Waiter Steve was a pleasure. We should have taken his recommendation of bread pudding for dessert, because the panna cotta we ordered was the one discordant note.
Will definitely return, probably via Uber, because even on a Wednesday parking was a nightmare.
Return visit for dinner under new management and meal was delicious! Enjoyed chicken liver pate' for appetizer with excellent raspberry lemon drop cocktails. Bread and butter with sea salt was generous. My husband and I shared a Basin salad and 14 oz. ribeye steak, grilled to perfection. No room for dessert after plenty of food but lots to choose from.

Not only was the food great, the drinks generous and the atmosphere nice the service overall is incredible.
After we got home my wife realized she had lost a diamond solitaire earring and we called the Basin to see if possibly it fell off in the restaurant. They looked and called us back to tell they were sorry but they didn’t find it. At most places that would be all you would expect but instead Michelle asked where we had parked and sent out employees to search the parking lot and actually found the earring, these are people who value their customers and really go beyond the call of duty to show it.

We have been to the Basin many times for our anniversary, and we were celebrating our 30th annivesary this time. Our waiter didn't seem to know (could have been better communication to him from the front desk, since I had put it in the note via OpenTable). Our waiter never told us about the special (which we might have ordered...as we overheard him telling another table and it sounded good, with a mushroom risotto). Our waiter asked it we wanted more bread, but never brought us more. In general, he did not make us feel welcomed at all. He seemed a bit bored with us.
On the other hand, Jose who served us water and bread, made us feel very welcomed. Jose was professional, very attentive, and when we asked him for the bread, he brought it to us right away. He did an outstanding job and he was really the only high point of the evening.

We have some new hosts and are working on implementing a more rigorous training program. I'm sorry that your special day was not acknowledged. We care very much about what we do and pride ourselves on our normally delivered quality service. A service that you clearly did not experience. We loved the food and the service. Had a gift certificate for $325 but didn’t find out until after we ate that they had changed ownership. They honored half of the certificate. Not their fault but frustrating. Overall, very pleasant experience.

We have spent thousands of dollars honoring them, but since they were made before we took over, we don't receive any of the profits. They seem to have changed their menu which I'm a bit sad about. I used to come here for the Argentine steak, but it's gone now. I instead got the ribeye but it was honestly very fatty. That said it was still good and my wife enjoyed her entree. I just won't get the ribeye next time.

Made a reservation and the restaurant wasn’t even open!

Our first visit to the basin was pretty good. We were not blown away but it was a solid good. The service was adequate. Took a little longer than expected to get our cocktails, but they were tasty. Salads were all very good, as were the truffle fries. My sea bass entree was lackluster - it not well seared or maybe it was the particular piece of fish. the sides that accompanied it were not special. So I would go back to the Basin but not right away. Hubby enjoyed his short ribs.

Since the change in ownership have experienced a decline in service and food quality. Order for my wife was made incorrectly and she had to wait about 5-7 minutes. Meantime all of the rest of us received our good. Not a great look for Tehran restaurant.

We have been coming to The Basin for many many years and it has always been amazing! Tonight was no different. The staff is always very accommodating. Our server, Garrett, was very knowledgeable, attentive and personable.
We had oysters from Washington which did not dissapoint, the ahi tune tartare was fresh , the roasted chicken (my husband said the best he has had in a while) and the mushroom truffle pasta was so rich and delicious!
We were too full for desert but tables around us seemed to definitely enjoy their desert as well!

The night was onset with initial hesitation, as my beloved halibut had been removed from the menu. Our waitress, Kyra, kindly informed us it was not in season. Thus, we decided to order the specials. The crab cakes were beautiful, a wonderful avocado sauce accompanied the dish. The oysters were medium in size, aesthetically pleasing, and also very mind and tasty. Drinks per usual were above par. The Risotto and short rib stole the show. The short rib was so tender and the generous portions still left us begging for more. The sea bass came on a bed of potato puree and was surrounded by a very well balanced sauce. Our bread pudding as always was fantastic, and my initial skepticism led to a dinner experience even more pleasing than our last visit. Can’t wait to see chef Daniel and his lovely staff again, from the host and manager to the bartenders, an the must mention lovey kyra, we received the exceptional service we have become accustomed to.

They could not serve a virgin bloody mary or a green tea. Dinner for four was $350 and only one person drank.

I had dinner at the Basin twice this week and was very impressed with the food and service both times. We sat at the bar and our bartender, Erin, couldn't have been nicer! We will definitely be returning soon!
