The Basin Ratings and Reviews
Second time at the Basin. Loved it so much the first time I couldn’t wait to return. Beautiful, warm atmosphere. Appreciated that we were seated in the back room where it is a bit quieter. Food was amazing and each starter was so good we all had to share. I high recommend the truffle fries. Great service and overall evening.
I had lentil soup which was good the Halibut Special which was very thin and so salty I couldn't eat it all. My husband ordered the chicken which turned out to be a leg and thigh meat which
he does not like to eat and he ate very little. Our friend ordered the seafood stew which he said was great.
Across from us the person had ordered their New York Steak which looked like it was well worth the money. It was probably 5 inches long and 4 inches deep. If I go there again that is what I'll order.
I chose this restaurant for my mother's 90th birthday celebration with our family. The host staff welcomed us as we arrived with happy birthday wishes to my mother, and provided us with the perfect round table in a quieter corner of the restaurant. The wait staff was very attentive, wished my mother happy birthday throughout the evening, which really meant a lot to her and us. The pre-dinner drinks, appetizers, and main course entrees were all delicious. I selectied this restaurant also because of the variety of menu options which allowed all the members of our dinner party to have exactly what we wanted. I would certainly recommend this restaurant to my friends and family. In fact, my entire family has been telling all of our friends about it already.
A table for four with our college age kids in town and started out with the paella- simply delicious. We each enjoyed different entrees- duck, scallops, Argentina steak and trout. One of those rare times when we each thought we had the best meal. Portions are enough to satisfy and share. Wine list offers enough options and pricing is remarkably fair. Definitely a place to enjoy again and again.
We just moved to the area and our new friends (who are regulars) recommended the Basin to us and we LOVED it. Our first time was last Thursday night and we're already making plans to go again this week. It was THAT good. Our server was incredibly likable and knowledgeable, and our meals were nothing short of amazing. Highly, recommend.
We ordered the following dishes: mixed greens, foie gras, crab meat pasta, black cod, and Argentine. The pasta had great al dents texture with generous amount of crab meat. The black cod was cooked just right with tender meat and crispy skin. The Argentine was very flavorful and cooked just perfect for medium rare. The only drawback for the dishes we ordered was the mixed greens. It tasted a little dry and could use a little more dressings.
Overall, The Basin has once again given us a impressive culinary experience!
We haven't been there for a while so it was my choice for my birthday dinner. The food was good, unfortunately the service was not. I believe we simply had a waitress who was not as experienced as she should have been. She forgot to order my husband's pre-dinner cocktail and came back a second time to ask if he wanted anything to drink.....after I had already had my cocktail for 20 minutes. We reminded her he had already ordered. Then, she neglected to tell us all of the specials because we heard a few more from the waiter at the table next to us was telling his guests. Then she forgot one of our side dishes until we were half way through our meal and had to ask for it again. Three mistakes in an hour is not a good dining experience.
I know for sure this is not the norm at this restaurant because many of our friends go here regularly and have never complained about the service.....it is just unfortunate that it was our experience on my birthday evening.
Good food but service was a bit mediocre. The New York steak was incredible!! I expect the server to pour your wine once it’s uncorked but ours had a different agenda, we were on our own. Our server made sure he took care of his friends next to us but neglected to make sure we were ok with everything . Bit of a disappointment although the food was good.
This is our third visit and the food was outstanding...oysters,steak,scallops,chicken..all were first class preparations and fresh. The sauces are first rate and leave your taste buds exploding. Get appetizers as the food takes time to prepare...but is absolutely worth waiting for. Don't forget to try the dessert cocktails!
It was an 'ok' experience. Value was not consistent for all dishes: while my daughter's duck entrée was the most meat we'd ever seen in any duck entrée, my small 'bowl of soul' we thought was pricy at $36. My husband would have liked his Argentine steak to have come with grilled vegies instead of fries which he thought was too casual for the venue.
It was a pleasure to dine on a satisfying herb roasted chicken (new the the menu) served on a bed of tasty garlic mashed potato accompanied by sautéed spinach. The food was hearty and the chicken well cooked and nicely seasoned. The Pellegrini Chardonnay paired well. The Basin is a local gem and is consistent, but a little predictable. I picture the chef in the back dying to try something with a little more wow. Try this place, you won't be disapointed. Recommended!
Great selection of interesting of dishes with a Spanish twist. Cocktails were inventive. Unusual to see liver and onions on a nice dinner menu—maybe you won’t like that but I did. Great apps and choices for mains from fresh fish, veggies, meats etc. friendly staff, excellent service. I’d go back
I was really surprised by the poor service. We waited more than 25 minutes to order drinks and a lot longer to be able to order the meal. We had to ask for bread, though other tables got their's. Also, the outdoor heaters go on either full blast or not at all. The food was very good, but there are a lot of other restaurants that have just as good food with better service. This was a special occasion and the restaurant did not live up to the occasion.
