We will not be coming back to the Basin. We eat out once a week and this is the worst restaurant we have ever attended. Most noise we have ever hear in a restaurant. So dark
one cannot read the menu. It took forever for the food to arrive after we ordered. We have
been at the Basin three times. This was our final visit.
I have been dining here since it opened many years ago. Normally love this restaurant. But, on this occasion the food was only average. I was here with a friend from out of town and we both agreed that the meal was not special. Somewhat disappointed this time. We ordered the special for the evening which was halibut in a pernot sauce on a bed of kale. The halibut was nicely prepared but bland. The kale was almost raw and inedible. We also ordered a side of cauliflower- That too was tasteless and undercooked. Not particularly enjoyable this time......
Most wonderful dining experience! Amazing service and food incredible! Our favorite Saratoga restaurant!
Truly a prize in SARATOGA. It's sort of a neighborhood place, but has real food chops. One of the pourers at a local wine bar said it's the best restaurant in Saratoga and I don't doubt it. FYI the best restaurant in the whole valley (according to this person) is Nick's Next Door in Los Gatos. Again I wouldn't disagree. But if you're in Saratoga, go to The Basin.
Very solid, friendly restaurant with attentive service and excellent food. The place runs like clockwork.
Great restaurant. Everything we had was perfectly prepared and our server Tristan was awesome.
Food arrived very late. Had to push waiter to do his job. Rigatoni over cooked. Al dente and chewy are not the same thing. Will not return or recommend
Food was great as ever, but I went with a date hoping for a romantic evening. The place was aroar when we arrived, and we could hardly have a conversation over the other, towering conversations in progress. It was the first time I ate in the front room, and I will hope never to do so again.
Meanwhile, the Forest Pizza alone was worth the trip: a sweet hint of honey from the glazed onions, earthy lushness from the truffle oil, exotic mushrooms, and gorgeous aged Spanish ham with a mellow Manchego! I will go back, but bring a crowd of my own next time.
Service was slow and no one found anything on menu that was excited to order.
my trout is cooked to perfection, love the kale as its side too. My father in law's pork chop is good too, tender and juicy, just a little bitt bland to my taste. Mushroom Rigatoni is delicious!
Service is very good, the restaurant is very romantic and cozy
This was our first time at The Basin. The bread was quite nice. We were eating early before a show, so only ordered entrees. I like liver - once every 5/10 years. It was perfectly served pink (not overdone) and was melt in the mouth good! My husband's duck was also perfectly served pink - it was wonderful! We both had the sauteed spinach, which was very good. The wait staff as attentive - w/o hovering. And they had black napkins - which always earns brownie points from me!
The staff was fantastic and very attentive. The food was wonderful as always!
Restaurant was great although the reception could be nicer...
I had the crab with pasta special and it was fresh and flavorful. My partner had the Bowl of Soul and it was delicious. Caesar salad starter was tasty and they split it for us. The apple pie w house made ice cream was light and excellent. Service was great and the pace and friendliness was appreciated. Will be back!
Bus service was really slow to remove plates. Standard has dropped substantially. Food was exceptional.
It was hard to find anything on the menu that I actually wanted to eat! The wine list was very expensive and I’m used to there being a range but there wasn’t much range, just expensive. Not a repeater for me! Can’t figure out what others enjoy about it!
This is a great adventure for fine dinning. This is our third adventure to the basin and loved each visit. Good food. Good atmosphere and friendly staff. great place. Would go back again
The Basin has been our go-to for special occasions for years. Their service is always top-notch, as is the food. The focus is on great ingredients and the style is a modern california-style cuisine. We love the mushroom rigatoni and the new york steak, which is gigantic.
Excellent food. Large medallion sized callops and very thick rectangular steak were both awesome. mushroom side dish was also very tasty.
Our go to place for special occasions. Excellent service and food that is well prepared.
I don’t normally leave negative reviews but and I don’t want to be “negative” here ... all I want to say is : don’t expect much from the food there. Soup of the day was so tasteless and bland thatvafter one spoon I wasn’t even bothering, beet salad the same ( no taste whatsoever) ... fish - totally bland and boring, scallops were okay and one thing that was okay were the shrimps from the appetizer menu ( sauce was good but shrimps were just like you yourself make from the frozen bag ). Bread was really good and super nice service. Ambiance was okay ( but don’t go there for date if You know what I mean. Prices were .... uhmmm - Fair local prices for this kind of restaurant.
Would I go back ? No ... until and unless all other places are closed and I’m starving.
We love your food and the atmosphere. Most of us ordered the Halibut special which was amazing.
We were having dinner to celebrate my husband's birthday and ran into three groups of friends (none of whom live in town) who were having dinner. That's a testament to how great this place is. Can't wait to return!
We always have a great meal. Service is wonderful. One of favorite restaurants.
Perfect balance of martini bar, upscale casual, and a creative menu in Saratoga Village.
The Basin is a well deserved local favorite
Second time at the Basin. Loved it so much the first time I couldn’t wait to return. Beautiful, warm atmosphere. Appreciated that we were seated in the back room where it is a bit quieter. Food was amazing and each starter was so good we all had to share. I high recommend the truffle fries. Great service and overall evening.
Had a great time here. Brought in a bottle of wine, food was great, and our waiter had great food recommendations. We'll be back!
We had another great meal here as usual. My friend and I both ordered fish dishes which were really good. Our cocktails were excellent too.
Very nice meals. Good meet-up spot for friends coming from different locations. Nice wine list, good menu. Enjoyable evening with friends. Very good service, very friendly wait staff, greeter and bar staff.
A delicious meal as usual. Everything was served hot.
I had lentil soup which was good the Halibut Special which was very thin and so salty I couldn't eat it all. My husband ordered the chicken which turned out to be a leg and thigh meat which
he does not like to eat and he ate very little. Our friend ordered the seafood stew which he said was great.
Across from us the person had ordered their New York Steak which looked like it was well worth the money. It was probably 5 inches long and 4 inches deep. If I go there again that is what I'll order.
It’s was an excellent experience. The food was DELICIOUSLY amazing!
My absolute favorite restaurant in the area. I love this spot. The food is always spot on! Never a mistake. Thank you Andrew for creating such a gem. You put Saratoga on the map for FOOD!
This was our second trip to The Basin. It was just as excellent as the first time. The portions are just right and the food was delicious.
I chose this restaurant for my mother's 90th birthday celebration with our family. The host staff welcomed us as we arrived with happy birthday wishes to my mother, and provided us with the perfect round table in a quieter corner of the restaurant. The wait staff was very attentive, wished my mother happy birthday throughout the evening, which really meant a lot to her and us. The pre-dinner drinks, appetizers, and main course entrees were all delicious. I selectied this restaurant also because of the variety of menu options which allowed all the members of our dinner party to have exactly what we wanted. I would certainly recommend this restaurant to my friends and family. In fact, my entire family has been telling all of our friends about it already.
A table for four with our college age kids in town and started out with the paella- simply delicious. We each enjoyed different entrees- duck, scallops, Argentina steak and trout. One of those rare times when we each thought we had the best meal. Portions are enough to satisfy and share. Wine list offers enough options and pricing is remarkably fair. Definitely a place to enjoy again and again.
We just moved to the area and our new friends (who are regulars) recommended the Basin to us and we LOVED it. Our first time was last Thursday night and we're already making plans to go again this week. It was THAT good. Our server was incredibly likable and knowledgeable, and our meals were nothing short of amazing. Highly, recommend.
Pretty good overall but way too expensive relative to atmosphere, quality, etc.
Excellent restaurant, unpretentious yet delicious and warm
Whenever we go we comment that we should eat at Basin more often
Service was extremely slow. Portion size much smaller than previous experiences. Disappointed charged for both corkage fees even half though half of one of the bottle was spilled on my sister. Would think twice about returning.
