Was disappointed with brunch, I have gone there many times for dinner, it's always nice sitting outside in the summer. I found brunch to be crowded, noisy, and not very well laid out. The line for food was slow. Service was poor, we never had our interim plates cleared, had to ask for coffee, ask for the check and had to take the check to the cashier because waitress never came back. Bottomless Mimosas- the waitress came by only once to refill. Maybe they were short staffed on the one day we went. Also, they didn't have our table ready despite our reservation via Open Table so we had to wait. So, yeah, a little disappointed. I'll still go back for dinner and lunch, but probably not for brunch until they hire more or better staff or maybe I'll go back in summer when they can spread it out more.

Service was terrible.
We waited 80 minutes for our lunch and we were on our work lunch hour.
We were ready to walk ou when it arrived.
The table next to us had the same experience.
Our server never explained the delay nor apologized.
This restaurant used to be good but its gone down-hill.

Made reservations for V-Day at 7:45pm. Arrived with my girlfriend at 7:30pm. Hostess kept avoiding everyone trying to check in for their reservations. Employees were speeding around not bothering to assist the hostess while she was busy assisting them. No sense of teamwork from employees. Finally tracked down hostess to check in and she went through the reservation list not really looking for my name and said “ok you’re checked in” ..I spoke to another couple whos reservations were for 7:30pm and also said hostess was avoiding everyone waiting. Another couple arrived about 7:45pm for 7:45pm reservations. Hostess advised them table would be ready shortly. 2 minutes later she seats that same couple before myself and the 7:30pm reservation. Terrible service with decent food. Not once did anyone apologize nor was the “manager” there on a day that should have all hands on deck. I would never go back.

Please do not publish this-it was an off night for Basil Leaf & I want this to get back to them as constructive criticism. We eat here regularly & love this restaurant-they were not well prepared for Valentine’s Day. The hostess was bussing & setting tables & could not even greet guests. The people ahead of us had a reservation 1/2 hour before us & they were trying to get them a table. We couldn’t even get the hostess’ attention to let her know we were leaving and canceling our reservation. We will go back, just not on a “special occasion”.

Took my wife for valentine's day. Was a horror show. Backed up, people standing all around the restaurant waiting to be seated. We were seated next to front door and every time someone came in or left we were hit with a blast of cold air. My wife wore her overcoat the entire dinner. This was not our first time there, and have had decent meals there, but this was bad.

This use to be 1 of our favorite restaurants. Unfortunately, the ownership has changed in the past year.

We tried it after the change and weren't impressed. We decided to give it another chance and made reservations for Valentines & the quality of the food had dropped even more.

There are still a few good people working there & I feel sorry for them as what;s happening is out of their control.

I don't think we'll be returning.

Been here many times before and the menu was always good so I brought a friend for her birthday. We were told we could only have brunch (arrived at noon on Sunday) and the food was mediocre, if even. We were disappointed and needless to say, it was a complete waste of money. Not coming back.

First of all, my one star rating was based solely on the atmosphere & service last Sunday night.
We did not actually end up dining here, based on my following review...We had a very strange & unfortunate experience at the Basil Leaf Cafe last Sunday evening. Upon arrival for our 6:30pm reservation, we found the restaurant to have a very weird vibe...there was no host/hostess and patrons seemed to just be waiting around. After a few minutes, an employee greeted us and said that he'd be back to seat us, but then changed his mind and told us to just sit anywhere. He appeared to be a cook or dishwasher, and not the usual front of house staff and it was clear that he was stressed out and in a hurry. As w headed towards a booth, a woman who was seated at a round table with a party of 8, literally stopped me in my tracks and started very enthusiastically telling me (almost shouting) that they had a reservation for a party of 8 and were waiting for a different table and needed the table we were heading towards, etc, etc. I calmly told her that we also had a reservation, but that she could certainly have that table if it meant that much to her. As I walked away, I asked my husband & daughter where else they would like to sit and they made the decision to leave the restaurant and dine elsewhere as we just did not have a positive feeling overall. As we were leaving, I told the restaurant employee that greeted us that we had changed our minds and would come back another time. I also mentioned that they appeared to be very short-staffed, to which he replied, yes, I am!

We've dined at Basil Leaf Cafe several times before and have enjoyed it. I'm not sure what was going on with them last Sunday night, but it was very offputting and uncomfortable, especially since it was my daughter's 17th birthday and she had chosen the restaurant for her birthday dinner.

the food was fair, when checking in I told the hostess we had a reservation but she did not ask the name or anything, just sat us. The service was OK but the overall experience was fairly ordinary to say the least.

This is a solid but unspectacular Italian restaurant, good for pasta and friendly service.
Discounts purchased in Costco helps the decision making process.
Large pasta portions good for a second meal at home.

We have enjoyed Basil Leaf for many years but the service the last time was very poor.
The food was very good but not as good as in the past...my entree was really kind of cold like it had not warmed thoroughly.
They sat us near the door and it was drafty.
The tiramisu was fabulous...when we go back,hopefully they will be back to the standards we always were used to enjoying.

Not sure if it was an offnight but everything served was way too salty.Ordered the bisque soup and vigole pasta. Could not eat more than a few bites due to salt. The Caesar salad was not chilled and Wilted. The saving grace -tiramisu.

I picked Basil Leaf because I knew it would be quiet for conversation. Went with out-of-town guests looking for decent food & conversation. It was quiet, service was terrific, but the food was terrible! How can you ruin spaghetti & meatballs?? Sauce was watery, meatballs were hard as golf balls, tortellini was hard & undercooked, etc. I'll never go back - too many GOOD pasta places in Danville! How do they stay in business??

We went to Basil Leaf for Christmas Eve hoping to have a nice meal. Unfortunately they were too busy to tend to their customers effectively. The waiters were not attentive and we hardly saw our waiter after we ordered. My meal was the last to arrive at the table (I was with my family of 4) and when it did arrive it was cold. When this was brought to the attention of the water, he looked at me as if to say "so what?" asked if I would like something else instead. I said that I would like what I ordered but for it to be hot, not cold. He took my plate back and I received my meal after my family had finished their meals. We ordered dessert to try to enjoy some part of the meal together. It was just not meant to be - there was a hair in the middle of the cheesecake we ordered for dessert. It was just an overall bad experience for us. We will not be returning.

Terrible customer service. We made a reservation but got the worst seat - all smokes came to our table. And we were in the middle of every traffic. They should not have a table there at first place. We asked a staff if we can change the table. First she said no even though there was a table available. We asked a guy again and he was kind enough to do so.
And we sat at the table more than 20 min without being served. Every other table there was served. Moreover, a waitress was chatting with customers at a table next us for 3-4 min ignoring our existence (at least that's how I felt). We were finally served after calling their attention. It was terrible experience. I hope the owner of the café could see my review and train the employees for future business. This place used to be one of my favorites up until this point. Well, I don't thinks that's the case any more.
