Restaurant was permanent out of business
This is closed and didn’t notify anyone. Planes a brunch for 2 weeks and walked up to our reservation with closed doors and a change of owner sign. At least notify people so they don’t get plans jackedup.
So sorry that this excellent brunch restaurant is closing. Danville needs more places like this
The Basil Leaf Cafe Close the week end after we ate. Most of the staff had resigned, so service was slow but the few staff worked very hard and the food was quite good. Sorry to see them go, they will be replaced by a Mexican Rest set to open in October.
I've eaten here before and to be fair the other visits warranted a much higher review. According to the staff the rest. is being sold and will become a Mexican Rest. so they had limited menu and were understaffed in the Kitchen because of the new ownership. It is my understanding that the Basil Leaf will close down for 2 months to be remodeled and become a Mexican rest.
Man, has Basil Leaf lost its way. Only one waitress, un-bused tables, no bartender. This place used to be a place for a better than acceptable meal at a reasonable price. No more - in every possible way to construe that phrase.
It is a shame they are closing. We have lived in Danville for 42 years and always have a good meal, great location and friendly service. Will miss Basil Leaf very much
There were only 3 tables in the whole restaurant that had customers and it was Saturday night in Danville. My husband and I split a salad. It didn’t look like it had any dressing on it at all. It was the house salad with balsamic dressing, or supposed to be. My Saltimbocca was okay and my husband like the Pomodoro with chicken. Our friends had the Rigatoni which she liked but her husband ordered salmon that was over cooked. He was not happy and hardly ate it. Portions are really big too - i would prefer less and be happy with my dinner. I have had lunch there and liked it but I don’t think we will be having dinner there again.
We always have a great time here. The food is consistently good. Danville is a great place to people watch.
Birthday. I am just appointed to hear that they will be closing soon. I have gone there for many years and have always enjoyed their brunch and their staff. I will miss them😿
Quite, comfortable dining experience with good service. Food was good but didn't knock our socks off. Nice selection of options for everyday dining.
Support this neighborhood gem. The food is good and the place is super cozy. Great service and great people.
Very cute place with delicious food. Went for Father’s Day brunch (buffet), and I would go back. I had to wait quite a bit until the host seated us, even though we had reservations. The servers were busy and no one came up to our table until I interrupted them, but our server was very friendly and came up to our table many times afterwards. The young chef who was cooking the omelette saws very rude to the servers and told them to all meet in the back, “I don’t care what they’re doing, I want all of them to meet in the back, now!” - we’re his words. Felt uncomfortable as a guest.
Overall food was great and we enjoyed our time.
We brought our family here for Fathers day brunch. It was unbelievably bad. Food mess all around the serving trays and floor, bathrooms were filthy, and several food trays empty of food, which we had to wait for them to refill. The eggs benedicts that finally showed up were hard as a rock with a poor excuse for a hollandaise sauce. I had to apologize to my family for recommending this place.
The Basil Leave is one of our favorite restaurants. Their brunch buffet is fabulous! The atmosphere is comfortable. Unfortunately, it is closing in a month to six weeks due to an ownership change. This is very disappointing to us.
I love the brunch. Our family visits here regularly. Yum!
Under new management. Let's hope they improve.
Sat at an outside table and it was lovely. We just had salads but very good.
Great service, Great Food!
Place is dated and not exactly immaculate. Menu too was really dated and food was just terrible. Gluten Free options were also touted when we called but were VERY limited.
I always love going to their Sunday Mimosa Brunch. Endless Mimosa and all you can eat brunch.
The meals were fresh and well seasoned. Nicely presented and hot.
The food was good, but unfortunately the buffet ran out of at least 4 dishes. we asked and they said they would be replenished, but it didn't happen in the 45 minutes we were there.
Food was just so-so. Not worth the $39.99 charge for a Sunday brunch on Mother’s Day. I find it expensive for the quality of foods they served. I would rather go somewhere else.
We enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere Would highly recommended.
Really enjoyed the delicious food and ambience. Great place to grab a bite to eat and enjoy a drink.
The omelette dude was rude and our waiter took awhile to get to us after we got seated
My wife and I went there for a Sunday buffet brunch. This has been our go-to place for brunch buffets; we've been there multiple times in the past. The food is very good; I like the made-to-order omelettes and they have bottom-less mimosas. Unfortunately, the buffet is poorly arranged, with the food on an L-shaped set of tables that are set up against the walls in a corner. Hence, people can access the food from only one side and, because there are dishes in the corner, the buffet line moves VERY slowly because the person who is standing in the corner just "rotates" while getting food from 3 different chafing dishes, without moving forward. (This is why I rated the service as Fair; the service is otherwise Good.) I've noticed this gross inefficiency before but it really annoyed me this last time, so much so that I've decided to go somewhere else for buffet brunch in the future.
NOTE: This criticism doesn't apply if you order off the menu.
We are a party of 8 for a Sunday brunch, we were seated 30 mins later than our reservation time. The buffet was ok, several green salad selection, with mixed fruit and muffins. Not as much selection of entree, taste descent, only it takes a while for them to keep up with the demand. We have to wait a while for food to be replenished. Service was nice and friendly. Over all our experience is satisfactory.
Staff was friendly, service was good and the food was fantastic!
Service was very disappointing. After being seated we waited approximately 12 minutes until we were given any attention and that was from the bus boy who brought bread and water. When the waiter showed up he asked to take our order. We all wanted a glass of wine when we were first seated! Had to ask for everything. The interesting part to all of this is that we sat in the front of the restaurant inside and there was a total of 2 tables occupied on Sunday evening. Our party of 4 and another table with 10 - that was it. No excuse for inattentive service.
We were pleasanty surprise. Last minute dission to go out in Danville left us with few options. Basil Leaf had a time that worked with our scheudle so reluctantly I picked it for dinner. Friday night at 7:15 the resturant was half empty. I was worried. We had the house salad and it was really good. Like homemade good. Plenty of green and other vegtables. My husband had the pork which he likes to order to see if they can get it right and he said it could of been cooked less but the flavor was good. I had the lobster ravioli and I was really amazed how good it was and how generous they were with shrimp and asparagus with the ravioli. All in all I was really surprised and pleased with our dinner. The staff was friendly and fun. Highly recommend you try Basil Leaf cafe again.
Good location in the middle of Danville but average food that needs a little TLC. Nothing to bring me back.
We went for Easter brunch. My mother, father, daughter and I had an amazing time. The food was delicious, bottomless mimosas, beautiful food spread and great location. The weather was perfect so we sat outside and it was the nest! Great experience. We will definitely return.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Brunch has a wide variety of breakfast items, salads and the tortellini is to die for. Mimosas are awesome as well!
I would have rated The Basil Leaf higher, but I lowered my rating due to the inept hostess. When I arrived at the restaurant for brunch, I gave my name and time of my reservation and she seated my boyfriend and me at our assigned table. However, no wait person came to our table to take our drink orders, so after we came back to our table from the buffet line, I informed the hostess. Shortly afterwards, our waitress came to the table and apologized for not coming sooner. She explained that the hostess didn’t write her name on the board after seating us, so she didn’t know she was assigned our table. In addition, I received a message from Open Table that afternoon indicating I was a ‘no show’ for my reservation. I had to call Ivan, the manager, to have him indicate that I did come to The Basil Leaf for my reservation. It seems that the hostess needs more training so she can correct the problems we experienced during and after our visit to the restaurant.
The restaurant wasn't anywhere close to crowded, but we still sat for a very long time before any gave us the slighted attention. The mussels and clam appetizers was fantastic! The rest of meal was just ok.
Nice but quite average Sunday brunch. So if someone is looking for a basic, but unimpressive brunch, I could recommend the restaurant.
Slow service and food was very cold
We had a nice lunch for 6 to celebrate a birthday. Service is good, friendly and table was ready on arrival. Love the "fruited" water....👍🏻
