Miso salmon excellent - took advantage of Happy Hour Caesar salad and good wine selection.

You can't go wrong with their wine pairing dinners. A great way to try new wines and dishes. Highly recommended and I'll be signing up for the next pairing once it's announced. Great job!

We came here to celebrate my husband and our friend’s birthday. The Barrel Room has a wonderful outdoor patio and dining area with heaters. It was perfect and we weren’t cold. They took all the necessary precautions for us to feel safe. The food was absolutely delicious and so was the wine! I recommend the garlic fries and charcuterie and cheese board to start. Everyone loved their meals and dessert was excellent too!! We live about an hour away but definitely will be back!!

Salad and bread board were very good. Service was very good as well. Chicken Parm left a lot to be desired. Chicken was dry with small amount of sauce. Jumbo Kia was lacking to. Too soupy with not a lot of meat in it. We have been coming here for years. Food seems to have gone down hill.

We had a lovely evening at the Barrel Room. The staff were all very personable, friendly and helpful. The food and presentation was lovely. I have eaten there several times and I´m never disappointed. Highly recommend.

I have been to ;the Barrell Room several times and was always very happy with the food. I had a Reuban sandwich that was very dry. Barely had any sauerkraut or dressing on it. I would say there was less than a teaspoon of each on it.

The Barrel Room has been our go to restaurant for years before Covid. We were there on a weeknight this time and there was no one to greet us at the door, so we just stood there awkwardly for a very long time before a guy from the kitchen came and found us a table outside. He brought us waters and we just sat and sat, waiting for some attention. Finally, a lady who was not our server asked us if we wanted anything. Since we were really hungry at this point, we asked for some soup, thinking it would be fast. When we asked for a wine list, she pointed to the sign on the table with a code to scan, as if we were supposed to know that automatically. After another long wait, we received our soup, but hadn't even met our server yet. After finishing the soup, he finally came over and we asked him for a pinot noir recommendation. He said he didn't know anything about pinot noirs so had to go ask someone else. When he came back, we told him we had been there for an hour so far and our order hadn't been taken. He took our orders and brought us our wine. The wine was almost gone by the time we got our food. This was honestly about the worst service we've ever received in any restaurant, much less The Barrel Room, which has always been such a service-oriented restaurant. To say we were disappointed is just putting it mildly!

Safe distancing outside, with very personable and knowledgeable, with food perfectly prepared and presented, even wine for lunch, was the best!!

We had reservations for the Rombauer wine dinner. Great dinner and wine. Sat outside under a heater which was nice. Great atmosphere!!!

Wonderful paired wine tasting dinner. Great food paired with 4 different, wonderful wines. It was my first one and I’ll definitely do it again!

This was the fourth time we dined at the Barrel Room. As was the case on our three previous visits, the food was delicious and plentiful, the wine list and wait staff were simply outstanding. Our out of town visitors were equally impressed and talked about their selections for days afterwards.

Our servers were super responsive and attentive. We've only been to the Barrel Room once before pre covid. It was only our second outdoor eating place we've visited during COVID. I have to say they did it well. The food was delicious too!! Get the Salmon!

Great Food, best in Rancho Bernardo. The stuffed dates are the best! Try the Salmon and Jambalaya. Happy Hour is good too.

We had a wonderful lunch with great service. The outdoor patio is large so we felt very safe. We will be back!

We came here for Sunday Brunch and would highly recommend it.

Waited for 26 minutes to be allowed in (granted we were there 15 minutes before our reservations) but it would have been nice to be welcomed in not just a flip of the sign.
Two employees just sauntered in and out a couple times with no greeting, same thing at the table. Noticed waitress was more jovial with the table across from us, maybe they are regulars still no excuse for the solemn face, especially at the beginning of the business day!

The appetizer was delicious but our dinner was overcooked and almost seemed microwaved. Very disappointed!!

The restaurant has made excellent accommodation for eating in the virus circumstances, with tables spaced on their back terrace and the area beyond that. The food was quite good, the service excellent, and it was a very nice evening.

One of the nicer options in Rancho Bernardo. Although a full bar would be nice, an excellent wine selection is the next best thing. The Barrel Room is a consistently good experience.

Friends from Los Angeles came to visit and this was my favorite place with the best wine selection. The Barrel Room never disappoints.

First, they have it set up beautifully and socially distant to keep everyone safe which is important to me. They have a large outdoor dining space and everything was super clean and the entire staff had properly fitted masks on at all times. The food was delicious and hot when it came out, it was very busy but no long wait for the food. It seems they have a fine tuned system there. All of the staff, servers and busser were extremely professional and a joy to spend the evening with. We will definitely be back!

Happy to be dining in a locally owned establishment. Food was great, wine selection was wonderful. Our server seemed a little new, but still had a fabulous attitude. We will, of course, be back and often.

Great outdoor safe distancing, wonderful staff and Happy Hour Menu over the top. Ordered dinner, which was outstanding after appetizers, and the environment was safe and pleasant. Always loved The Barrel Room, and now more than ever, I feel comfortable in the setting on the enlarged patio.
