We were very excited to try The Barn for dinner, having only been there for breakfast. The decorating is nice and there was a welcoming fire outside. The service was great. Our waitress and servers were really friendly and attentive.
The menu seemed quite interesting and there were many things that sounded delicious. Lots of great things on it. One of us had the haddock. It looked beautiful, but it was not hot and the crust on top was hard and chewy. It could have used more of the vegetables. Same with the accompanying squash blossom; cold, hard, and chewy. Our other diner had risotto, with a confit duck leg shredded on top. There was supposed to be carrots in it. We found potato, two tiny pieces of carrots, a tiny bit of the cipollini onions, and some fig. This was quite a large serving but just risotto, not an entree per se and not as described on the menu. The third person had the vegan option which was half of a small winter squash with about half a cup of wild rice and cranberries. This was sized as a side dish not an entree. Yet it cost $27.
The deserts were quite good-not too sweet but attractive and nice. Coffee and wine were very good
All in all we were bit sad. The decor and menu descriptions outshone the actual food. We may return, but will probably not be bringing friends.

Very nice experience overall .We had originally booked for sitting outdoors but the weather was so cold we asked if we could be seated indoors and they were very obliging . Food was good and the ambience very cozy and festive with outdoor lights
Service was good too and friendly .

We had dinner at The Barn for my birthday and we had an amazing experience there! From the appetizers (the lobster Rangoon is out of this world) to the main courses (my Halibut was ridiculously delicious) to a very cozy ambiance, I could not be happier.

Beautiful place though outdoor dining was really too cold. We judged poorly that “pergola” would be tented. Service was good. Food really mediocre for the price. Best things were the tarte flambé, oysters, and lobster rangoon— All delicious. The shrimp cocktail tasted very fishy. Coq au vin risotto was quite bland. Steak frites very good though the medium rare order extremely rare.

Went for Sunday brunch. My first time to Bedford post was underwhelming and slightly disappointing. My eggs were way over cooked- asked for over medium but yolk was completely solid and dry. Husband’s Eggs Benedict was very watery. Very small portions for the very big price. The Barn Brekfast didn’t even come with a piece of toast. Not worth the money whatsoever. The food that was cooked properly tasted good (Belgian waffle, breakfast potatoes), but it was hard to ignore the awful eggs. The setting is beautiful and staff is very friendly- we had no problems with that. It also seems that everyone brings their small children and babies to brunch, which I was not expecting, so it was kind of loud and annoying. I don’t mind paying $100 for a great meal, but this was not a great meal. I will give this place another try for drinks or dinner- maybe.

We’ve been to the barn a handful times, consistently good food and drink amidst the rustic little lanes of Bedford won us over. However our very last time it was a little chaotic. Host seemed a little overwhelmed. Bartender was complaining about being overworked to patrons (improper), and portions seemed smaller. Perhaps the peccadilloes can be attributed to the impending holiday season.

The ambiance was great. The food was tasty. The service was friendly but very slow. I don't think that they had enough servers for a busy Saturday night.

The wait staff were very professional and kind. The bar was backed up so we didn’t get our drinks until during appetizer. We were seated in the loft which we felt was stuffy, warm and had too many tables, the lights were set very brightly until another patron turned them down and the room applauded. Most of the food was delicious (oysters, sunchoke salad, halibut) but the risotto was under salted and mushy but the “cassoulet” on top was delicious. A mixed bag of good and bad but not rushing to go back.

Must have been an off night in the kitchen. Burger was ice cold in the middle having ordered medium and hangar steak was over cooked. Oysters were very good.

Our server, Faye, was outstanding! But that is where the good news ends. The decor inside is unattractive with bare wood tables, molded chairs and a large bar dominating the stark room which should have been faithful to its origins as a farmhouse. Why would you hide a gorgeous stone fireplace? Food was strange and not good. Good attempt at unusual flavors but the quality just wasn’t there. Very disappointed.

I love this restaurant, the food is always delicious, they update the menu seasonally but always have staple items, I love their cinnamon bun as a starter to share, the flavor changes seasonally but always has a burst of flavor and is tasty, their cocktails are also very inventive and delicious! I also love their croque madam yummm

Appetizers very good - then downhill . main courses just bad and overpriced. Burger below Smashburger; roast pork rubbery and balsamic was just that - a shoe it’s of balsamic thrown on.

Worst of a $17 dessert that was a half of what was advertised as an ice cream sandwich - which was frozen and flavorless at that

Tasty food but nothing earth shattering. Second visit and didn’t see a ton of interesting stuff on the menu this time around. Could probably benefit from a few specials to add variety.

Halibut tasty
Fried chicken a little dry.
Onion app fun and tasty.

Service was great although it was a combo of smoky from
The kitchen and cold becuase of the constant of opening

At this price point I think it could be better.

Sadly, we were terribly disappointed with our latest visit. And our latest visit will be our last. The restaurant was cold, the fireplace not working, the door outside (even when there were no customers outside) would not be shut, even when asked. We ate with our coats on and if that weren't bad enough, the food was meh. What a bummer, we were psyched when the chef changed, loved our first visit, didn't love our second but gave it one more shot. Don't.

Service and ambiance were outstanding. The appetizers (flatbread torte and fig salad) and drinks (martini) were also excellent, though $18 for a cocktail is too much. Unfortunately the mains weren’t great. We got the pork and duck both of which were overcooked. The duck was also under seasoned. Overall would go back for drinks and appetizers.

The setting, the location, and Scenery are lovely. The staff is friendly and professional, but not pretentious. The food is high-quality, and delicious. All of that being said, the menu is quite limited. I took my Mom for breakfast/brunch. While I appreciate the chef’s desire To make his mark on the menu, I think that they should offer some traditional brunch Staples, in addition to what they’re currently offering. Lastly, $5/ per cup of coffee is astounding. $20 for 4 cups of plain morning coffee leaves a bad taste in one’s mouth.
