The Barn At Allenberry
Ththe food was very tasty, but not hot enough. My filet and mashed cauliflower were barely lukewarm. We mentioned it to the waitress. We really like coming there and want to continue if things get better. We’ve had cold vegetables before at the Barn.
We wish you the best......
The Barn is one of our favorite restaurants. I love the atmosphere, the views are beautiful. We've been there many times for personal family outings and business. They are so accommodating. I wish more people knew about it.
The food was not very good and very expensive. I think you should at least get a salad with your meal when you spend $32 for one crabcake.
The Kennedys have brought life back to Allenberry in the most exceptional and aesthetically pleasing way possible. From the exceptional guest service and dining ambience, to the farmhouse decor that is welcoming and fresh; from the exquisite food and drink (seasonal cocktails and dishes are on point) and wait staff who go out of their way to accommodate, to the clean grounds and fantastic playhouse, you cannot go wrong. Whether staying for a weekend or longer, having a meal at The Barn, or taking in a show and hot chocolate by the outdoor fire afterward, you just cannot go wrong by spending some time at this restored gem.
Service was excellent. Food was superb - the best we have had on the west shore. Wine choices were very good. Definitely will go back.
Wagyu burgers full of flavor
We like driving to Allenberry when visiting our son in Gettysburg. And I would love to give this place 5 stars. However, the past two visits a group of young servers/hostess' were talking and giggling at the hostess stand. We stood there a couple of minutes and finally one looked at us over her shoulder and said "yes?" We told her we had a reservation but she didn't hear us because of the laughter behind her. The she TURNED BACK AROUND to find out what she missed. Eventually someone remembered their job and seated us. After that our actual server was very good. They need a professional or experienced hostess instead of the cast of Clueless.
The most accommodating staff for a 40 birthday party - we were likely a little much to handle but the server and kitchen staff and manager (and even owner!!) were amazing, attentive and patient with us! A++
We so enjoyed an anniversary dinner with Alyssa as our server! Great ambiance, great recommendations from Alyssa for beer, wine, and food, and food was delicious. We split the truffle fries as a starter - yum! Ordered two entrees - short ribs and the beef fillet - both so good! Topped off with desserts - chocolate torte and chocolate lava cake, both delicious. Thanks to The Barn and Alyssa for a vey enjoyable evening!
Great service and food. !!
We love Allenberry and it is usually our go to place for special occasions. That being said this past experience was anything but what we have experienced in the past. Our server was very un attentive. Our water bottle was never replaced and it took forever to get drinks from the bar as well as to settle up on our check. I don’t think it was 100% her fault... I think she was assigned to many large tables and just couldn’t keep up. Secondly, I ordered the lobster mac & cheese appetizer for my dinner entrée. I have never had a more boring and bland tasting mac & cheese with very little lobster meat in it. What disappointed me because the server boasted 6-8oz of lobster meat in the dish... not even close. There were no seasonings in the dish and for the price, I would have rather gone to Brick in downtown Carlisle for their full entree lobster Mac & cheese for $5 more and would have been more satisfied. I think we might take a break from Allenberry unfortunately due to this last experience.
Very good short ribs and servixe
Debbie is the best bartender at Allenberry. Always quick and quality service !
I love The Barn!!
Thank you for a fabulous and delicious family dinner.
Wait staff friendly, great food and libations. Could expand parking areas if possible.
I have been there several times-for dinner and brunch. I love it so much I’m moving to the Porches at Allenberry!
Food was excellent and the service staff was very nice and attentive. The decor suits the atmosphere.
Great! Lovely food and fun
Fantastic quality of food. Absolutely the best I’ve had in Central Pa.
Beautiful location. Food was fine but nothing spectacular (in part because entrees came out a bit cool) especially for the price.
Great atmosphere and food. The lunch menu is limited, but very good and filling portions. The service was also very good.
Unbelievable food, great ambiance. Service is amazing and everyone treats you as if you are royalty.
Small amounts for the cost, but very tasty and well-made. Beautiful setting
This being our first time there since renovations we were totally surprised and impressed. Food was excellent. Staff was very impressive with attention to all details. A "suggested" tour around the property with Omar after the meal was a wonderful way to end a very pleasant evening. We will be back for sure!
Excellent food and atmosphere with friendly staff. A great experience!
Food was great! It was a beautiful evening and we we seated outside. The only complaint was that the service was very slow.
A great experience for a special evening with friends
Great Food, Warm Atmosphere, Excellent Service, and an overall pleasant experience
The good parts, server was cheerful and fairly knowledgeable. Food, some of it, was very good.
The setting is really pretty, lots of attractive buildings, the creek, or whatever that body of water is, the landscaping.
The down sides.
Husband ordered a hamburger, no cheese. It was brought to table with cheese, took server a while to get back, offered to "scrape" off the cheese and then re-warm burger. We all vetoed that idea.
My friend and I were sharing 2 dishes. The vegetarian entree, which was really delicious and a salad with chicken. The salad came out with no chicken. When they brought it back, we had asked if they would split it up, which they did but there was a long hair on my friend's plate. They took it back.
we ordered the panna cotta for dessert, I was not overwhelmed.
When we got our check, there was no compensation for the mishaps. That surprised me. Would I recommend to a friend ? not sure. By far the best stuff was the vegetarian entree and the cocktails.
Could be great, but food was served tepid. Server was friendly, but not very effective.
This was my second visit to The Barn and I was very disappointed with my meal. The kale caesar salad was nothing special. My special scallop dish was awful. Although the scallops were cooked well the risotto was terrible and there were some burnt lettuce leaves on top. However my 2 guests were satisfied (although not super excited) but the ambiance and music under the stars made up for it. I will definitely give it another try and hope to have a better experience.
LOVED the atmosphere and LOVED the food! A bit pricy, but perfect for a special occasion. We had made a reservation well in advance, so were disappointed to be stuck at a tiny booth in the bar area where it was loud. Our server was also tending bar... she was as attentive as she could be under the circumstances. Overall still thoroughly enjoyed the experience... just ask for a reservation in the dining room😊
My experience with The Barn was wonderful from the moment my husband and I walked in we felt like we were waited on hand and foot. The hostesses were very pleasant and our server, Sarah, was very knowledgeable and helpful.
We ate out on the patio and it was lovely
We were visiting my daughter at college and came here for dinner. There were a wide variety of choices on the menu and it was all delicious. A great meal for all of us! Our server was wonderful.
This was my first visit to The Barn at Allenberry. My daughter and I had tickets to see Mamma Mia at the Playhouse that evening. The grounds and buildings were beautiful as we walked around before our dinner. We were seated outside on the porch so we could enjoy the beautiful weather and views. And our dinners were delicious and prepared to our liking. The only downside to our dining experience was that service was very slow with Jason our server. Other tables that were seated after us were served much more quickly. In fact, we wanted to try a dessert but had to ask for our check because the service was so slow and we had to get to the Playhouse.
Overall, a great experience. The slow service was the only thing that prevented me from giving a five star review.
We stayed overnight and saw Mama Mia at the playhouse. Katie, the owner, gave us a ride to dinner on a golf cart and also back to our room after the show. The food was phenomenal and the atmosphere is classy, upbeat and fun! Our room was perfect and the show was fantastic! We will definitely be back soon!!
We meet here with family from Chambersburg because it is about half way between us. We love the food and attentive service. Theo was especially great as our waiter. We will return.
Perfect service and accommodations for food allergies as requested. Excellent meal!!!
