It is such a beautiful yet relaxing resort. The food was fantastic and so affordable. Great drinks too!
Using back waiters to assist main server. It is best for the main server to present each course. I dislike the game of who ordered the “blank”. In a dinner fine, but not at this price point.
Overall, it was a very pleasant evening. The food was good and the service was great.
I was so excited to eat at Allenberry again but was so disappointed with the experience. The menu has been cut in half. Still fair choices but was really looking forward to the pasta dish but they didn’t have it. The server told us the specials for the night which included a pasta dish. That’s what I ordered just to have the server come back and say that special wasn’t for tonight could they get me something else. We never talked with our server again. He went to work behind the bar and never came back to check on us to see how the food was or if we needed anything. Someone else brought our check which is fine but the whole experience was a let down. I have always had a great time here and have always enjoyed the food but after this visit I may not be back for awhile.
We have been to Allenberry before, this time seemed to be less special. I requested seating in the dining area and we were seated in the bar. Menu was more everyday than it was before. I realize this may be due to COVID and not being able to fill the restaurant. They have to do what is cost effective in order to stay open. We will certainly go back because overall Allenberry is wonderful.
Excellent food and service at this lovely restaurant with a view of the Yellow Breeches! Enjoyed a walk by the Yellow Breeches after dinner. Will definitely go back!! Especially in the summer to sit out on the lovely covered deck overlooking the well maintained Allenberry property.
The dinner occasion was for a birthday celebration. Seating was prompt. Waitress was very pleasant but slow. There were problems with the food orders. Two dishes were missing the mussels. One steak was cooked incorrectly. It took 2 1/2 hrs from seating to getting the check. One dish was barely warm. All problems were immediately fixed. Definitely would give it another try.
I dined here for dinner with two girlfriends - mom's night out haha. It did not disappoint! It was the first time for all three of us.
We had the truffle fries and tostada (a special) for an appetizer which were good. My friends had the sweet potato gnocchi and the salmon salad. The salmon with the salad was a VERY generous portion and cooked just right. The sweet potato gnocchi was purple sweet potato so it was just as pretty as delicious! It tasted like Fall if that makes sense.
I had the venison special and OH MYLANTA it was SO delicious!
For dessert we shared the brownie sundae and sticky bun. The chi ice cream on the brownie made it unique but the show stopper was that sicky bun!!
Hidden gem in Boiling Springs, PA! Atmosphere is wonderful, and all staff were friendly. Went for Perfect Pairings series, so enjoyed a free wine tasting from local winery along with a special pairing menu in addition to the normal menu. Food was elevated and tasted amazing. Presentation was beautiful. Restaurant was pretty quiet and not crowded, so we sat at the bar. Had a very strong chocolate Manhattan, which was delicious. Definitely recommend for a local restaurant or even if you have to travel further.
Our waitress was wonderful, and knew the menu well as we asked questions of their farm to table menu items. The restaurant had a quiet atmosphere for the most part - you can actually have a conversation. The food was wonderful! We had the trout and filet with mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. They have a wine flight which was a wonderful way to try different local wines, and I found 2 I really liked. We highly recommend this place.
Lovely setting for my birthday dinner. The handkerchief pasta was a perfect choice. We especially loved the arugula shrimp citrus salad. We decided we should come back just for that!!!
Very nice place! Little pricey but worth it. My husband could have had a little more food.
Tables are way too close to each other - when we saw where the hostess was trying to seat us, we asked for a booth by the bar. The bartender ‘served’ us, mostly by shouting over: ‘everything OK over there?’ Food portions were very small for the price.
Our waitress was really great. She was knowledgeable and friendly.
They were busy. The service was OK all things considered. Took a while for the initial greeting. The menu was both extensive and limited. A lot of items but if you wanted the standard cheeseburger, for example, be prepared for tomato jam and not a tomato ... and it was well done versus medium rare, which was requested. They advertise "local" but shrimp, crab (etc) are really not local unless the Yellow Breeches has changed recently! The prices were rather high for the venue. And . . . why don't they promote the playhouse?
Don’t let the casual atmosphere fool you into thinking you are only going to have basic menu choices. The food is innovative without being elitist, absolutely delicious, and visually appealing. We continue to be more than impressed with the level of service and gracious hosting at this restaurant, which brings us back time and again.
I love the Barn because of the ambiance and it's more quiet and cozy. We hold our annual Christmas party there and had my mom's bday there. One of my favorite places
We love their menu, and numerous specials. The attention they pay to providing fresh, local food is admirable, and they put it to good use.
We loved that they now offer flights of wine, evenly divided among local and international selections.
Food was very good and well prepared. Varied menu to please anyone's taste, allergies, food preference.. Pleasant and friendly service. Nice atmosphere.
Good for groups. Interesting options on the menu. Loved the fried green tomatoes!
Great dinner. The waitstaff was considerate of food allergies at our table and reviewed the items that would be safe.
The locally sourced foods makes Allenberry a gem in central PA. It seems that the idea of sourcing food has been creeping out of local cuisine. Sustainability is important to me. The Barn shows that choosing this philosophy doesn't mean creating average plates. Their food is excellent, time and time again.
The Barn at Allenberry always impresses us. The ambiance is very warm and inviting, the service is top notch, and they are constantly changing the menu and trying new things. We love it here, and can't wait to go back!
Great ambiance and service. Group of four had couples Valentine’s specials. Excellent selection, quality, and value.
We will return soon.
We plan to return. Ambience was great; lunch menu options could be greater.
We dine here fairly frequently. To be clear, this review is ONLY ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE. It was Valentine's Day, and the crowd was moderate. I made the reservations far ahead of time. It took forever to get our first drink. It then took nearly an hour to get the appetizers. Well after ordering our main dishes, we were informed that they were out of the steak I had ordered--which was insult to injury, given that it was already a reduced menu. When the main courses finally came (and I settle for my second choice), there was a glob of cheese (ricotta, I think), dead center on my Girlfriend's pasta--despite her clearly saying she did not want this (which the server acknowledged). There was also some confusion about the pricing of the meal since I had booked a package deal with lodging and then the Barn went to a limited menu Valentine's special. All in all, the food was as expected when it finally arrived--though I have never before had medium rare duck? The service was initially slow, though that improved throughout the LONG dinner. The manager(s) were very accommodating and apologetic, offered us a free bottle of wine to take back to the room and a substantial discount. The wine never appeared. All this said, I would probably still have skipped the poor review but as icing on the cake, I was told at checkout that the bill/receipt would be emailed to me. 48+ hours later, it is still not here (so I can't be sure of the discount either). This encounter was nothing short of comical. Still, we have future reservations and I am hopeful!
We had a great Valentine's dinner for only $125. It included a soup or salad for each, an appetizer to share, an entree for each, a dessert to share, & a glass of wine each. Everything tasted great, our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. A nice cozy atmosphere, I would definitely go back to try the other dishes.
A bit pricey, but very nice. Food was fantastic, wait staff was good, although they seemed a bit nervous and inexperienced...but they did fine.
Lighting seems overly bright to us in the dining area which takes away from the otherwise comfortable and beautiful room.
The food is consistently excellent every time we return for dinner or Sunday brunch.
Valentines Day dinner. Food was delicious
Beautiful restaurant! Great menu selection! We will definitely dine here again!
The place looks amazing! Our food was delicious other than SUPER salty fries and my husband said his portion was too small. Other than that the place was great. Our waitress disappeared but another noticed and took over. Drink selection was good.
I don't leave reviews often - but our first two visits here have been phenomenal and could not have gone better. Highly recommended to anyone in the greater-Carlisle area to a dinner date, business meeting/meal, or taking the In-Laws out. Can't get much better than this place.
We had top notch service from Jasmine who was very attentive and made our experience much better than some previous visits. The food was delicious and well-prepared. We sent back the first truffle fries because they were lukewarm but it was quickly taken care of and the next ones were hot and fresh. Our drinks from the bar were fabulous, too. Hope to come back again soon!
The food and service are much improved over our last visit about a year ago. It was one of the best dining experiences we have had in a long time. We didn't try this yet, but there is a bar menu available and apparently some specials during happy hour. An important note, because while the regular menu prices are fair for what you get ---- it's not cheap.
We enjoyed a wonderful meal at The Barn at Allenberry. Our server was especially attentive to my allergy issue. Food was delicious!
We brought4 friends for their first visit. Everything was excellent.
Some friends and I went for my birthday celebration. The restaurant is beautiful and they were able to accommodate a group of 10. Great wine selection (I like that they were all PA wines) and the food was delicious. Service was a little slow but our server, Theo, was great and we had plenty to talk about to keep us entertained. We will definitely be back!
Thank you for the great feedback and I am happy to hear you enjoyed your evening at The Barn. We look forward too having you back!
Excellent service, delicious food. Highly recommend.
Thank you for the kind words, we appreciate the feedback and look forward to having you back at The Barn!
