Have had two really good meals in the restaurant and another evening enjoying a glass of wine. This is a great pub and we’re looking forward to returning when it reopens
This is our third visit to the Barley Sheaf and it has never disappointed us. The food is superb, great value and the service is friendly but still very professional. We are delighted to support such a good chef and will happily re visit just as soon as we are allowed to !! With all the lovely food on the menu, I would happily go every week !!
Excellent food, service and atmosphere
Thank you
Once again a very enjoyable meal. The staff were so hopeful and nothing was too much trouble.
Lovely meal, nice touch with a birthday card , great service thank you
Friendly welcome, excellent service, great food. Will be back soon.
Superb food, excellent service what more can one wish for.
Fabulous food & the staff were outstanding. They treat customers with dogs exceptionally well.
Lovely night at the barley sheaf, food was lovely, a bit pricey for what we got. Fish was a bit greasy, less tartare sauce, more mushy peas.
A lovely meal. We ate in the upstairs dining room. The service was first class, nothing was too much trouble and we felt safe. A respectable distance was maintained and all staff wore masks/visors.
The food was super. Beautifully presented and extremly tasty. I especially loved the fried whitebait with spicy mayo for my starter. Our mains of Cornish Hake and Pork Loin steaks were cooked to perfection.
I can thoroughly recommend a meal here.
A wonderful pub, warm hospitality, lovely ambience and delicious food - especially recommend the sticky toffee pudding!
Excellent good and atmosphere. We will be coming again.
Best Sunday roast out that I’ve ever had! So tasty and the cauliflower cheese was just perfect 👍🏼
Lovely friendly staff. Can’t wait to try something from the dinner menu soon.
Tim is an excellent chef, and we felt very safe in the restaurant. Looking forward to trying something outside the Sunday roast
Polite, relaxed and accommodating for the dogs. Good well cooked food.
Nice Village pub warm welcomeand doing fine dining and gastro pub food, nice setting, good service, great food especially the puddings, reasonalbly priced, me and my partner had a very nice night, thankyou Barley Sheaf.
Been in holiday for two weeks in GorranHaven
Have eaten here 3 times
Very good value and quality of food
Not been for a while for food but under the new kitchen staff and owner it's a 'wow'. Well done and all our party were made to feel so welcome
Lovely clean and covid safe eatery. We were there mid week lunchtime.
The food was very good, it would have benefitted from some background music as it was almost too quiet. Not many other diners.
Simply a wonderful prepared and served Sunday Lunch
A refreshing change to what pubs seem to serve up these days
BEST SUNDAY LINCH OUT FOR YEARS!!!!
Will be coming back later this week
On Holiday and will have eaten here at least 3 times
Thank you guys your doing great
We went after a rave review, so expecting great things. Food was ok! One member of staff was quite rude, with a mask on you could tell she was being sarcastic! I wouldn’t recommend for gluten free! So not impressed!
We went to the Barley Sheaf for Sunday lunch. The food was excellent and the service was efficient and friendly. Perfect.
Excellent cooking and so good that much of it is locally grown or produced. I would highly recommend it.
Lovely food and good Covid precautions. Would love to go again but we live in North Wales.
Lovely experience; great atmosphere and amazing food! Staff and chef were excellent and we all really enjoyed ourselves.
Fabulous waitresses who remembered that I was gluten free from my online booking and were able to recommend dishes without being asked.
Lovely choices of tasty food.
Only criticism was the side dish my friend had, of warm potatoes and broccoli with a cold salad on top.
The Barley Sheaf are coping with Covid restrictions really well.
We had a table for four. Distant from other diners. very comfortable and lovely atmosphere. very attentive staff and good humoured. Food was quotes "wow this is top restaurant standard". We enjoyed the experience. We had eaten here earlier in the week - table for 6 on that occasion.
We visited here with friends for dinner when we were staying at a nearby campsite. The menu was not extensive but still plenty of choice. The food was very good and we had planned to return for Sunday lunch but our trip got curtailed due to prevailing wind !! The only criticism we had was that it is a dog friendly place , which is fine, but whilst I find dogs acceptable in a bar I dont like dogs in the actual eating area but this wouldnt stop me from returning.
Very good service. Excellent food. Great ambience very friendly
The Sunday lunch here was amazing. Staff were also very friendly and were taking COVID guidelines really seriously so it felt safe. Would definitely recommend!
Large pub. Good table distancing. Great table service from charming waitresses. Although we waited 40 mins or so for our food, it was completely delicious and reasonably priced. Would recommend.
Service and food were excellent .
Had a Great piece of Plaice .
Well organised with current problems
Thank you and hope to return
Excellent room and a great atmosphere. The best food for miles. Not pub grub.
A great find. Delicious food in a great pub. Our party of 4 all thoroughly enjoyed our meals.
Great Sunday roast, very tasty and great service travelled from Plymouth just for this. Amazing :)
Excellent service and dinner. Would definitely recommend
Lovely place for nice evening out, will definitely return
The food was absolutely outstanding. The best meal out that I've had for a long time. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely evening meal. Food & service great and really well organised in terms of changes for safety due to Covid.
Staff didn't seem to communicate very well with each other. They didnt seem to know who was doing what and when. We were sat next to a group of locals who were very rude and argumentative. As we were with our two young children this made us feel rather uneasy. Staff didn't seem to be able to handle them very well.
The food was good. Although the menu itself was pretty basic. It arrived very hot and the sticky toffee pudding was particularly yummy.
Unfortunately we wouldn't choose to eat there again.
