It was quiet because we were there late but normally it is much too noisy. Thanks for staying open for a late dinner after the theater.
Server seemed disorganized. Forgot Utensils multiple times throughout the meal, (ie, caviar spoon, Lobsters utensils for Lobster Bake). Then was told I could order a second Apple A Day Cocktail b/c the bar ran out of apple puree at 8pm on a Sat Night?? Most likely will not return. There are a lot of restaurants at this price point with better service that do not run out of product so early in the evening and even if they do they offer alternatives.
Good afternoon. Please accept my sincere apologies about your experience. This is certainly not the way we operate at The Banks. We do make our cocktails fresh to order and do sometimes run out temporarily. That being said, I am sorry you were not offered an alternative. If you would please reach out to me directly, my information is noted below. Thank you. Jeff Rosenthal General Manager The Banks Boston 617-399-0015 Jrosenthal@thebanksboston.co m
Great meal and service. The seafood is super fresh and tasty. My only complaint would be that I specified it’s my wife’s birthday on the reservation and there was no acknowledgement. We even ordered dessert but they didn’t put a candle or anything.
Good afternoon. I am so sorry that we dropped the ball on the birthday celebration. That is my personal pet peeve when a restaurant neglects a celebration. Please accept my genuine apology. I would love to make it up to you next time you choose to dine with us. If you would please reach out to me directly, my information is noted below. Thank you! We were seated next to the fireplace, was great since it was 9 degrees outside! Our waiter Mario was attentive and helpful in making selections. The mackerel pate was delicious. A few more crostinis would of been nice. Two of us had the salmon and it was cooked to perfection. My other friend truly enjoyed her swordfish. I will definitely go back there.
Delicious appetizers and meals! Portions are very good!
Thank you Leanne! See you soon! Jeff Rosenthal General Manager The Banks Boston 617-399-0015 Jrosenthal@thebanksboston.co m
Nice seafood place. Portion/price ratio was biggest disappointment. Went on a Friday night during pandemic and restaurant was not overly busy. Raw bar food was quite good but entrees got to the table cold and portioned quite small (got the rare tuna roughly 4-5 oz’s plated, sides were below room temperature) Ambiance and service were great though. Would give it one more shot but maybe just for a few drinks and raw bar.
Good afternoon Phil, Thank you very much for your feedback. I am sorry to hear that your food was not perfectly hot and delicious. Anytime anything is ever not perfect, we are more than happy to fix it for you (heat up your food, get you more tuna, etc). I would love to meet you next time you come in and show you a perfect experience. Please let me know if/when you would like to return. Thanks again. Awesome meal, drinks, and service. The vibe of the restaurant is amazing as well. Great date spot or just dinner spot for some amazing seafood!
Wonderful! We loved it here. The meal, service, atmosphere was outstanding albeit loud . The Ceviche is delicious and fried artichoke amazing. I would have appreciated help with cracking this lobster. I did the best I could. 🦞😬
This place was excellent as far as the food and service no issues what’s so ever.. however to be honest their bathroom was filthy and was shareable didn’t like that what’s so ever. That’s why I won’t give them 5 stars ⭐️.
Hello Alisa. I am sorry to hear that the bathroom was not pristine. We do have a system of bathroom checks, so this should not have been the case. We will certainly review as a team. I appreciate you bringing this to my attention. Thank you. Jeff Rosenthal General Manager The Banks Boston 617-399-0015 Jrosenthal@thebanksboston.co m
This was our second time dining at The Banks. The atmosphere with the cozy fireplace on a cold night was awesome as was the food. And the servers is exceptional. It is a bit pricey but for the level of attentive service, it is worth it.
Service was excellent. The cornbread and the tuna meal was delicious. I had the lobster roll- hot. Not overly impressed. Not a lot of butter - wish they had served it with extra warm butter. The deserts and coffee were outstanding.
Good evening, I am glad that most of your experience was perfect. I am sorry to hear that the lobster roll was not as enjoyable as expected! We are always able to bring more butter, or completely remake the lobster roll to bring it up to your expectations. Please let me know next time you are in so I can make sure it's perfect. Thank you! Service was excellent. Good food and a large assortment of wine. Would recommend for sure. Parking garage next door was very convenient as well.
I'm so glad you enjoyed! See you soon, Jeff Rosenthal General Manager The Banks Boston 617-399-0015 Jrosenthal@thebanksboston.co m
Wonderful food, extremely attentive and knowledgeable service from our waiter, Mario.
Great "light" meal in all respects. Soups were served hot and very tasty.
Salads were overwhelm tingly generous inside, and excellent in content and taste.
We were stuffed so well that we declined dessert, although they options looked tempting.
Good attentive waiter, and good service.
We now see The Banks as a restaurant we go to frequently.
Nice renovation. Only downstairs was open but great new lay out and tile floor.
Excepts: Why was air conditioner on in wintering blowing right on the table?
Prices for main course very expensive for Back Bay.
But the two appetizers we selected instead were outstanding!
Cioppino flatbread - unique and wonderful.
Octopus - not everyone gets it right theirs is terrific! And great platings.
Thank you for the five star review! I am sorry it was a bit chilly for you. We are more than happy to adjust the temperature if you are ever uncomfortable. I am glad the food was great! We look forward to welcoming you back to The Banks soon. Thanks again! Jeff Rosenthal General Manager The Banks Boston 617-399-0015 Jrosenthal@thebanksboston.co m

Went for New Year’s Eve. Great meal. Wonderful atmosphere… Everyone from the manager to the hostess to our waiter was exceptional. The flatbread pizza for appetizer was phenomenal.
I'm so glad your New Year's celebrations were perfect! Hopefully we will be seeing you soon. Thank you! Jeff Rosenthal General Manager The Banks Boston Jrosenthal@thebanksboston.co m 617-399-0015
Good food for value. A couple of kitchen missteps. The pork belly was just bacon, not what We expected. The “foster sauce” for the banana sundae was grainy with unmelted sugar.
My husband had the fish and chips,he said very good.I enjoyed the swordfish blt. The kitchen accommodated my bread change request. The fries were outstanding.
The restaurant was moderately busy, the service was very good.
Looking forward to theBrunch. We will be back Gail Clapp
Thank you for your feedback Gail. We will certainly look into your food related observations. We look forward to welcoming you back soon! Jeff Rosenthal General Manager The Banks Boston Jrosenthal@thebanksboston.co m 617-399-0015
My family went to Banks Fish House to celebrate my wife’s birthday. It was the Monday night between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, so the restaurant was only about half full. Everything was quite good, but for the pretty steep prices, few things stood out as exceptionally good. The service was a bit slow to start, but then fine once we ordered. My sense was that the server was not completely familiar with the menu., although we didn’t really have many questions. We started with a raw bar plateau (a/k/a seafood tower). Two items really did stand out. The mussels were perfectly prepared, and the salmon belly (with grapes, almonds and a terrific mustard sauce), was the best thing I ate all night. For six people, we could have used more of the condiments. I had fried artichokes as a first course. I really liked the accompanying Old Bay aioli. The artichokes themselves were fine if not outstanding. I would say the same about my lobster dinner main course., which did have a terrific chorizo broth. What is notable is that all the portions were very large. Maybe it is just me, I would prefer slightly smaller portions, which I think would give the very fine food more of a chance to shine.
I did love the three flavors of ice cream I had. Really rich and interesting combinations.
I thought the restaurant did a very fine job, considering pandemic-related issues like staffing, etc. I just think it might do a bit of fine tuning to perfect a very good product.
Thank you for your feedback Gregory! I hope your wife's birthday celebrations were enjoyable. Please let me know if I can ever be of assistance. Thanks again. Jeff Rosenthal General Manager The Banks Boston 617-399-0015 Jrosenthal@thebanksboston.co m
Very nice place to stop and eat.
The desert was fabulous
Great cozy ambience by the fireplace on a chilly evening.
The calamari appetizer was outstanding, as well as the salmon and cod entrees and our server was friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend.
Glad we were able to keep you warm on a chilly night! See you soon! Jeff Rosenthal General Manager The Banks Boston 617-399-0015 Jrosenthal@thebanksboston.co m
Had to pay for bread. Fries were cold with Fish and Chips. Replacement fries too greesy and salty. Overpriced.
Good afternoon, I am sorry to hear that your visit was not up to expectations. If you could please reach out to me directly, I would love the opportunity to speak further about your experience. Thank you. Jeff Rosenthal General Manager The Banks Boston 617-399-0015 Jrosenthal@thebanksboston.co m
Clam chowder was amazing and we had a great waitress. Fish & chips was a bit bland. Great wine selection though!
Service was prompt, which was very appreciated. Also liked that fries were offered for the lobster roll rather than just chips.
Amazing service and the food was even better!
Thank you James! I appreciate the compliments! See you soon. Jeff Rosenthal General Manager The Banks Boston 617-399-0015 Jrosenthal@thebanksboston.co m
Delicious food, outstanding for Fish.
Good view at the kitchen
Sat upstairs at a round high top table. Servers were extremely friendly and made great recommendations. Unfortunately, service was slow. 15+ mins to get drinks despite 3 bartenders working at the bar upstairs.
Food was very good. Sea Bass special, salmon, tuna entree and cuttlefish spaghetti were all winners for our group of 6. Would pass on the tartare trio special, but the fries were awesome and so was the fried fish sampler.
Will definitely be back!
Service was excellent and attentive. Noise level very loud. Food delicious but pricey vs ambiance
After a bit of an issue upon our arrival we sat at the bar and met Mackenzie who saw that we were weren’t happy. He immediately got the manager- Elizabeth who was extremely apologetic and delightful! We were there to celebrate my friend’s birthday and the two of them were so personable and kind they made sure everything was perfect for her day! Mackenzie was the consummate professional.. making suggestions and timing our long lunch to perfection. Our food was so incredible we both actually ordered dinner to go for our husbands!!We are still talking about not only the food but the way we were taken care of.. it was just exceptional! We knew that anything from the Himmel group would be great … but Elizabeth and Mackenzie made our day even better.
We are certainly lucky to have Elizabeth and Mackenzie! I'm so glad they corrected the issues and turned things around! We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Thank you! Jeff Rosenthal General Manager The Banks Boston 617-399-0015 Jrosenthal@thebanksboston.co m
Despite specific request, our soups arrived warm but not hot.
The main courses were good, with the swordfish superb. The waiter indicated that the chef has slightly changed the sauce for it, and that was great.
The waiter was very nice, but the service was quite slow. Yet another case of understaffing???
We were upstairs, for the diners, which was quite empty. The downstairs, for the young drinkers, was jammed pack. Maybe their food and drinks demands overwhelmed the kitchen capacity.
Good afternoon, I am sorry to hear that the service was underwhelming. Though we, like many, are dealing with the consequences of the pandemic, we certainly do not use this as an excuse. If you could please contact me directly to further discuss your visit, I would appreciate your time. Thanks, Jeff Rosenthal General Manager The Banks Boston 617-399-0015 Jrosenthal@thebanksboston.co m
Had dinner here recently and LOVED the seafood tower and Sea Bass dinner. Came back shortly thereafter to try the prime short rib burger. There was nothing prime about this burger. If we try Banks again, we will stick to seafood.
Good afternoon, I am very sorry to hear that the burger was not enjoyable. If you could please reach out to me directly to further discuss, I would appreciate your time. Thank you. Jeff Rosenthal General Manager The Banks Boston 617-399-0015 Jrosenthal@thebanksboston.co m
The Banks Fish House had something for everyone! The food was fresh, delicious and had very attentive service on a busy Saturday night. Apps arrived before drinks however the rest of the meal service made up for it. Price point is a bargain for similar in NYC! Oysters, fried artichokes, clam chowder, tacos, salads all fresh and tasty!
Thank you so much for the compliments Lori! We look forward to welcoming you back to The Banks soon. Jeff Rosenthal General Manager The Banks Boston 617-399-0015 Jrosenthal@thebanksboston.co m
The food was very good. Nice atmosphere for a chilly night with the fireplaces.
Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed! Jeff Rosenthal General Manager The Banks Boston 617-399-0015 Jrosenthal@thebanksboston.co m
We sat upstairs and it was great to see the kitchen in action. This restaurant is very large. Service was fabulous. Food was excellent. It was a little loud but otherwise wonderful.
I'm so glad you enjoyed Grace! See you soon! Jeff Rosenthal General Manager The Banks Boston 617-399-0015 Jrosenthal@thebanksboston.co m
Excellent seafood. The Dover Sole just
melts in your mouth!
Private rooms are available for special occasions.
Fantastic ambiance! Loved the holiday decorating. Fried clams and drinks were very good! We also got the margarita flatbread and short rib burger which were just ok
