The Bakers Arms
Roast Sirloin of Hampshire Beef
with roast gravy
Roast Hampshire Loin of Pork
with creamy mustard gravy
Bakers Fish Pie*
with gratinated cheese and potato topping with salad or vegetables
The pub should provide a draw for its delicious chicken liver parfait and a hammer to break the thick butter on top. What happened to the real thing that we had three weeks ago. We did complain.
Risotto and trout were good. Apple crumble was very average and the custard ,I would say, was shop bought.
I won’t be coming back to a restaurant for which I had a loyalty card before lickdown.
Amazing Bakers Sunday Roast, 5 Roasties and 9 different veggies
We absolutely love coming here and the atmosphere was nice and service was great. The food was disappointing though yesterday. The veg was cold and potatoes overcooked but the meat and Yorkshires were lovely.
We had a lovely time but food wasnt the usual standard
Just a perfect end to a busy week with friends we have not seen for 18 months. Food was excellent, service with a smile and a nice atmosphere. well done!
Really friendly, good food and excellent service.
Waited for 45 mins for main meal - two plates served up first then remaining 2 turned up - two out of the 4 plates were horrible and cold - nothing special about the food wouldn’t go back - owner was very sorry and sent us home with a bottle of wine and we didn’t pay for the food - a very disappointing birthday meal 😕
Really delicious food and the waitresses were great. Thank you
The menu was very balanced with something to please everyone for the three courses.
Good selection of wines and beers, including real ales and a very good cider, all at reasonable prices. Service was excellent, the two young ladies waiting our table were delightful, attentive and efficient.
Best of our ventures out this year and I would recommend The Bakers Arms without reservation.
Sat at outdoor table in corner of car park as it was a hot day. Service was excellent from a young lady. My friend really enjoyed her Sea Bream. I had a veggie Berger which was good but not that exciting. Menu was very varied but I only wanted something plain on that day.
Lovely food lots choice very helpful and friendly service
It was a nice evening. Staff were attentive. My husband had a lovely meal of mussels. He said best he has ever had. My steak was not the best I have ever had. Fatty and gristle and not good. Offer of free pudding or drink was offered. But in reality was not acceptable
Great service, food and ambience
Sat outside in a covered area at rear of pub. Surroundings nice enough, staff friendly and food was to a very good standard. Overall really enjoyed our evening out at The Bakers Arms
We had a lovely evening and our waitress was brilliant
Excellent food; attentive service; pleasant ambience in the marquee. Would highly recommend it.
We were seated at the front of the pub next to the door leading onto the A32. As it was a warm evening all doors and windows were open but the occasional motorbike noise was intrusive and could have spoiled the evening; as we were keen to enjoy a rare meal out, we didn’t let this happen and the food and service were excellent.
Fabulous pub, wonderful menu, brilliant food, made you feel very safe/comfortable and staff exceedingly obliging, nothing was too much trouble. Great atmosphere. Such a lovely experience for a family meal, we were so well looked after, hope to visit again soon, many thanks!
Even though we are being released from some covid restrictions out table was too close to a family of 8. We were only two feet apart.
Service was so poor we waited 25 minutes for our meal.
The food was not as good as expected, roast potatoes were cold in middle and rubbery on outside. No one bothered to ask if we wanted a dessert.
The young person cleaning tables wiped it down then wiped a side plate with same cloth!
We just paid and left, an experience never to be repeated.
Very nice enjoyed it very much. Good service and lovely food
Food good, staff very efficient. Prices in line with the area.
Great place to have a nice dinner
Unfortunately the waiting staff although we’re very welcoming they weren’t very attentive, I came for dinner with my wife for a nice dinner and we thought the service was ok but we only had one drink and would have had more but were never offered a top up or really could get the attention of anyone
We had a good night and would definitely come again, hopefully just a glitch last night ??
Excellent beer- as always. Good quality Malbec and two super fish meals --Deven Crab Thermidor and Mussels.
Greeted by friendly staff service was prompt and good. Food was good. Dog friendly
Unexpectedly good food in pleasant rural pub.
Lovely fresh asparagus with pine nuts and great fish pie
Staff welcoming, COVID took some atmosphere away, but very nice.
A nice meal. But sad to see not many clients and hope it improves. We don’t want to lose the pub.
Considering the Baker's Arms has been excellent over the years, this was a massively disappointing experience. The menu was unimaginative, and the food served was mediocre at best. We ordered some bread as a taster which did not arrive but was still on the bill. This was removed when we pointed this out, but again it points to a level of care and service which is now missing. Whilst I appreciate the limits of the current world situation, this does not excuse the lack of imagination, serving tasteless, poorly prepared food or paying attention to detail. It will be some time before we consider eating here again.
We love the old pub feel. Friendly service all round from bar to table.
Great tasting food.
All of the above drawers us back time and again.
We really enjoyed our meal, the service was good and it was pleasant sitting outside but under the cover of a marquee. No nuisance of flying insects and very pleasant without being in direct sun light. The food was tasty and the service pleasant and friendly
Lovely very large roast dinner - quality food. Would definitely go back again.
Really disappointing Sunday lunch. If you put roast chicken on the menu, you can't serve just a drumstick and a chicken wing. Particularly not for £18.50. We were ignored by staff after we complained.
Another lovely evening at the Bakers Arms. My Fish Pie was delicious!
The Bakers Arms was a lovely little place to have a delicious meal. They were very patient with our dog. They were attentive. The only reason I have scored only a 4 for service is that when my husband ordered a second drink and it was delivered to the table, the empty bottles on the table and glass were not taken away. If I notice this simple touch why aren’t they. A table for two is very small anyway so extra bottles and glasses are in the way.
Lovely outdoor seating with good amount of heaters. Good wine selection. Muscles were good but rest of meal seemed overpriced for the quality. Crab cake starter was ok, a bit over done, bouillabaisse also. Crab Thermidor was alright but didn’t seem made to order (more heated up). Deserts felt microwaved (could be wrong but that’s how they seemed). But it was very nice to be out of the house for dinner.
Great food, great service as always. My favourite venue by far.
Such an amazing menu with plenty of options for gluten free alternatives !
Perfect quiet outside seating for sunny days and always smiling staff !
The Crab Thermidor was delicious and the service was excellent ......
Definitely worth a visit.
I’d probably try and sit inside next time.
Been before excellent dealing well wiith redtrictions
Lovely food. Friendly helpful staff
Very happy with the supper we had here on a Saturday night. Food was delicious, service delightful, very COVID safe.
