   Decided to go on a impromptu date with my boyfriend and this spot couldn’t have been more perfect! The host was extremely accommodating and the food ended up being incredible. Definitely some of the best pizza I’ve ever had.

   I live in Houston but get to Austin 1-2 times per year. I’ve eaten at Backspace 5-6 times over the years. Excellent pizza with somewhat limited selection of toppings offers but they picked the right ones and the quality of those offerings is top notch. The Cesar and Burrata salads are both fantastic. The Burrata is among the best I’ve ever had anywhere. Small but decent wine list and friendly service. The wood-burning over is right out in the restaurant which is pretty cool. No cocktails - wine and beer only. If you need a pizza fix in downtown Austin - this is your place.

   A very small place with fairly crowded seating. Food was tasty but VERY slow. It was surprising service was slow given the size of the place but maybe there were a lot of take out orders. The pizza was good but the crust was a little too thick for Neopalitan pizza. Worth another try but didn’t blow me away.

   We ordered the pork meatballs and the pizza Bianca. The meatballs were ok - the sauce tasted pretty much like something out of a jar. They were served piping hot out of the oven. The pizza was tasteless and disappointing. The cheese had no flavor at all. The arugula on top was fresh. The crust was very good. Service was good. Oddly, they were out of iced tea and had only one beer available. The atmosphere was seedy and dim. Can’t recommend this place.

    Still one of the best date night spots!! Get an early reservation for the 50% off wine and apps! Because it’s so small, the service is attentive but not intrusive. The food is so delicious! The only issue was that the room seemed pretty warm with lots of portable fans and AC units going so hopefully this is only a temporary issue. Poor staff seemed pretty hot and sweaty, but as a customer it was comfortable.

    Great service, very mediocre margherita pizza. They made the gf crust in house that i was super pumped for, but unfortunately it was just meh. Zero seasoning, barely any cheese and four tiny flakes of basil. Left so much to be desired.

    I was there for my Birthday this past weekend, I’ll give it to Josh he did a good job being that they were very short staffed. I REALLY WISH I WOULD HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE A/C WAS OUT, I would have canceled my reservation & gone somewhere else. I love this place but it was way way to hot, neither of my guests nor I could enjoy our food.

    No A/C and long wait times for service because they were short staffed so I understand but with the no A/C it was pretty unemployable. Not the staff’s fault though and they were friendly.

    5 stars for EXCELLENT food! 0 stars for establishment. NO air conditioner! it is 105°F today and they do not have a functioning AC. Imagine the wood fired pizza oven going at full speed and eating hot food - pizza and panini and then no central air. Horrible. I feel bad for the staff that have to work in these conditions. Owner, manager fix this! Place temporary fans in restaurant or shut down restaurant until AC fixed in the middle of Texas summer. TOO HOT!

    food was good and the space was cool except it was so incredibly hot, we hardly remember the end of the meal. they said they AC had been broken for 7 weeks! will definitely go back but will be waiting until winter.

    We had marked on our reservation that it was an anniversary and they greeted us with two glasses of Prosecco complimentary. The service was great. They worked as a flawless team and were very knowledgeable about the wine selection. Pizza was aesthetically appealing with fresh toppings but the crust was rather bland. Being from New Haven we are especially picky about our pizza so you take our opinion with a grain of salt. The melon salad and pork meatballs were great!

    The service was excellent and the food is very good! Rustic, home style Italian with authentic wood fired pizzas. The ambiance is interesting…it’s a very small space that is a bit loud and quite warm in the summer heat. Very Austin vibe with the music and minimalist decor.

    We’ve been here a few times before and the food is good. We booked a table for 8 for my wife’s 30th birthday. They seated us 50 minutes late. We asked the host to ask the manager to comp some stuff (since they told US they’d charge us $10/person if we’re late/cancel less than a couple days out, seemed fair they owe us stuff for the ridiculous wait on a reservation!), and he said they would. They sent out two $10 appetizers for eight people as the apology for wasting nearly an hour of everyone’s time, which was disappointing. I told the wait staff at the end it was disappointing and they said the manager would reach out (they did not). So, this is a good spot to go if you don’t mind potentially waiting a lot with a reservation, but I don’t recommend it for large parties, and I wouldn’t expect them to make things right when you do have a poor experience (still probably a good date spot though)!

    Recommend a reservation and dining early. Ordered olives, meatballs and pepperoni pizza- everything was delicious. Great happy hour- half off drinks and apps. Smell was amazing, dining space was intimate and we experienced great service start to finish. A good spot to head before a show at Paramount.
