Welcome to your friend neighborhood bar and sandwich shop. Tucked away on Lafayette Park, just a block from the downtown and seaport neighborhoods of Salem, MA, The Babe is the perfect place to rendezvous after work for a cocktail, grab a bite with friends, or get together for a late night celebration. We take pride in our scratch kitchen with a menu inspired by Northeast sandwich culture and cuisine; touching on fan favorites from Philly to NY, and of course, Boston! Our menu includes specialties like house-ground cheese burgers, loaded Italian subs with freshly sliced salumi, crispy and cheesy mozzarella pockets, crispy wings, and more. The dining room and bar have a casual but intimate feel with high ceilings, updated vintage architectural features, and warm deco-lighting. The Babe also features live performances several nights a week as well as a cozy backyard patio in the warm weather season. Waited an hour and a half for food. Felt like the portions were smaller on our food to push it out of the kitchen faster. Probably just a busy day but who knows!

Very fun neighborhood bar. I love the vibe, the crowd (very welcoming, lots of young people there and then us in our 50's rounding out the older crowd!). Server was great and we ended up there on Drag Trivia night which was a blast! Good food and good prices. Definitely a great addition to Salem!!

Terrible service. It took about 15-20 minutes after being seated for us to be asked for our drink order. We had two gluten free guests with our party and were told that the restaurant could accommodate (they even have gf substitutions on their menu). An hour after waiting for our food the waiter comes up and says that they won’t be able to accommodate for gluten free. They gave no reason as to why it took an hour for them to say something to us. They did comment that they were “swamped” but there were empty tables throughout the restaurant and we saw numerous parties get served food who arrived after us. We ended up just leaving. Never have I received such terrible service at a restaurant. It was truly shocking.

Great experience all around. Food was outstanding at brunch (highlight was the avocado toast). Really good drink menu. Only downside was no real breakfast options on the kids menu (not a huge deal breaker) We will be back to try the dinner options!

I was so looking forward to trying The Babe. It was amazing! We had the cheeseburger, fries and lemon ricotta donuts with delicious jam! Can’t wait to go again.

amazing service! freddie was an exceptional host and was able to comfortably seat us within just a few mins! food was fabulous and the place was quiet, perfect for a date night, and lively!
