The Avenue is a family-friendly neighborhood noshery serving fresh seafood and contemporary American cuisine by Chef Paul Madrid in an exposed brick casual setting. We offer elevated American fare, fresh local seafood, a full-service bar, a beer list featuring local, American, and Belgian craft beers, and, most importantly - a comfortable, fun atmosphere. Come early with the little ones or later for date-night buffoonery, and dine al fresco with your pooch on the front patio. The Avenue was honored by EaterDC with the #1 Burger in DC 2022. True to a neighborhood joint, the goal is to get to know each guest, treat them how we'd like to be treated, and have them back time and time again.

My husband and I split the DC rolls. Those were outstanding and I would get them again in a heartbeat! I had the cheeseburger: it was very tasty, but too big. It might be nice to offer a single patty option. The mac and cheese was disappointingly bland.

The Avenue and Capital Crab is a great place for weekend brunch, or really anytime. We went for Saturday brunch. Great sandwiches -- the crab cake was wonderful -- and superb Bloody Marys! Looking forward to checking out The Avenue for dinner. A neighborhood gem!

The restaurant had a casual, friendly vibe; perfect for a light meal after a show at the Avalon Theater. The food selections had a level of refinement and pleasing taste, suggestive of the culinary expertise of an experienced chef.

It is hard to imagine a more average and unfulfilling meal. The ribs were tasteless and the fries had no seasoning and added nothing to the meal. The salad was bland and tasteless. The staff was nice but there is simply no reason to ever return to this establishment. I had to stop and get carry out on the way home. 🤦🏾‍♂️

We only had drinks so I can’t comment on the food. We were seated promptly. The waiter spilled a little of the beer he was delivering on my brother in law’s jeans which wasn’t great. They were attentive otherwise and had live music on Wednesday night when we went. Good prices for drinks and nice ambiance.

This was a disappointing visit, and no restaurant should be judged on one experience. But tables were not well cleaned, and there were little ants.
