We went for dinner the food was amazing. The service was great and we took a tour of kitchens. We will definitely return and recommend that our friends join us.
Creative new dishes by international students. Wonderful from start to finish with appetizers citrus flatbread, charcuterie board and desserts matcha mousse, key lime pie. Great value 4 course dinner with duck entree priced at $30. Enjoyed server Nikolai's Italian herb loaf in cast iron pan.
We really enjoyed our meal and the service. Thank you.
Andres did a fantastic job. I would love to have him serve me dinner next time. Food was phenomenal.
We've been going here for over 5yrs & always gave a 5 star review. The restaurant has been moved/remodeled & though very pleasant it doesn't have the warm ambience of the previous (diner) dining area. Food & overall still very good.
The servers were nervous but did a great job. The food was incredible. The shape of the dining room was a but unusual (one curved wall that made the seating plan feel a little awkward but the tables were positioned to take account of this). Overall we will definitely be back. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
I really enjoy going to the Artichoke Grill. The service is so friendly and it's great to chat with the students. Also, I can always count on a quiet atmosphere to have a chat with a friend. It is never loud and noisy.
Scottsdale’s best kept secret that must get out. Meal was prepared and served by Scottsdale Community college culinary students. Amazing experience.
Loved the dessert sampler! Where else could I get sea bass for under $10? Food was superb. decor/ambiance was modern. Wait staff was somewhat awkward, but we were there on the second day of the new semester, so I'm sure they will improve with practice. Overall a great experience and value.
This quiet modestly expensive restaurant is such a pleasure to experience. We are regulars and every dining experience is different and delicious
Our dining experience was not up to par. In years past we left the Grill raving about our extraordinary evening. This visit was just satisfactory. The desserts were disappointing and the rolls were rock hard. Not everyone got a soup spoon and the server kept giving my dishes to my daughter. We will return, but not too soon.
We have been there twice now, once with a party of four and then a party of two. We had the three course meal both times. The service is great the food is tasty and filling, great portions. The menu changes and is online to browse. I would definitely recommend holding a table online you will definitely enjoy the meal and atmosphere. Very friendly service.
The Artichoke Grill is one of the best kept secrets in the valley--gourmet food prepared by chefs in training at bargain prices. Everything is fresh, delicious, and elegantly displayed and the service is great. You can't leave there without trying the desserts! Great all around experience!
This place continues to impress. Tried another mocktail and was very pleased with the new fashioned twist on an old drink sans whiskey. The tamale had such a nice texture & presentation. My duck consomme was served beautifully in the style of El Chepe express train, poured into the vessel table-side. Favorite was the entree which took me back to misoyaki butterfish at Shirokiya. Dessert was not too sweet flan with lots of fruit. Too tempting for a Taiwanese like me.
nice service , great food , excellent presentation
Great Experience will go back again. I already have a reservation!
Highly recommend The Artichoke Grill! We just learned about it at the recent Taco Festival, where they served up the best tacos we'd tasted all day - so we decided to try the restaurant. We went on a day when they were serving a buffet lunch -- it was fantastic! There were many choices of appetizers, hot main meals, and desserts as well as beautiful freshly baked breads. Everything was very tasty with creative flavor combinations - and everything was beautifully presented and very high quality. We'll definitely go back again!
I loved this experience. The Herb Chicken with potatoes was outstanding. Every dish was a neat experience. The highlight of the meal was the dessert platter and the atmosphere :)
Love the hand-crafted mocktails, sober drinks to start. I'm told their new liquor license is available for large group catering. Weekly menu items are modern selections in line with newly remodeled dining room. Enjoyed all 4-courses including freshly made breads. Desserts were beautiful, fun way to interact with students who made/show them off. Tips offered go toward their scholarship fund.
Great menu with unusual choices. Good service. Quiet ambience.
The receptionist was postive and welcoming. The wait staff were helplful and considerate. Did a great job. We ordered the burgers and they were fantastic! Overall wonderful experience.
Your visit provides an opportunity for the students to have real life experiences of service - be understanding it's not perfect yet - they are just learning. The food was excellent, nicely presented and the value is outstanding.
Great food and service. Look forward to the next season.
Always great food and great service.
desserts esp the chocolate, wonderful.
Very friendly staff and good gourmet food. I like the fact that tips go towards scholarships. Students do a nice job and I think we are in good hands with these future chefs!
I would hoghly recommend this dining experience. Everyone was so cordial. The food was amazing. So delicious and elegantly presented. We will be back
Always a wonderful experience. Be prepared & patient with the servers as they are students & inexperienced.
Loved all , was beautiful and very tasty , our server had a nice attentive attitude and a big smile with all the dishes . The extra bred was in fact croasones with all the butter and crunchy crust , extra without asking .Beautiful desert plate with our sampler plenty for 3 not one . Will be beck soon , nice place for a conversation and delightful food.
Went for sit down dinner and without notice they changed to buffet. Food tasted only fair and meat was tough. Very disappointed.
Best value in the valley! Best desserts as well!
This is a wonderful place on the east side of Scottsdale Community College's campus as part of their culinary program. Although there is much to like about this place including the eagerness of the students to please their guests, the food was interesting but unremarkable. I think what bothered me the most was food temperature. The courses were neither hot or cold, but rather in the middle temperature wise which lead me to believe much had been prepared in advance and served after being warmed up. Nothing had that fresh flavor of something just off the grill or out of a pan. It was still a great experience for my birthday and all three of us enjoyed our time there.
This is such a fun gem at Scottsdale Community College. The food is made and served by their culinary school students. For $28 you get a 3 course meal plus dessert. Food was mostly excellent and service was great. I highly recommend.
Delicious and affordable lunch. Fabulous dessert sampler. Presentation and plating just as beautiful as a 5 star restaurant.
We had a 12:45 reservation as one of the girls was not able to come earlier. Three of us had the pasta which was just OK. The 4th person wanted the sandwich as she did not want the carbs of the pasta. You were out of the sandwich. I am thinking you ran out because many people do not eat lamb and that should have been factored in so that you would not have run out because we came later. I like lamb, but I was the only one at the table that eats lamb. She ate 1 or 2 bites and did not like it. I brought it home to my husband and he enjoyed it.
i just like to help your students to achieve the highest level, so they can fullfil their dreams.
your hands-on training make them overcome many hurdels- the way to perfection is a long one
To all your stundents " Keep going and good luck"
It is part of the Culinary School of Scottsdale Community College, and the servers are students. Very eager to please and very sweet. The food is very good, if not the most creative or daring menu. You get a four-course meal for under $30., which is a great price. And it's easy to visit and converse in the dining room. BUT.. there are no alcoholic beverages, inc wine. And I think a nice dinner is enhanced by a bottle of wine.
Dining at the Artichoke Grill was a great experience! The food was fantastic & the culinary students do a great job rotating through every position in the restaurant after preparing all of the food. Some are experienced in being servers but most are not, so be kind and enjoy the experience. You just might be served by a future Top Chef!
We went to The Artichoke Grill for lunch and were not disappointed. This is the fully operational restaurant run by the Scottsdale Community College Culinary program. The students run all aspects of the front of house and kitchen. They are very eager to please and keep in mind they are learning under top chefs. My husband and I opted for the 3 course lunch for $16. We both had the soup du jour, a tomato bisque and excellent flavor. For the main course I had an open faced salmon sandwich w/ slaw and he had the stuffed chicken breast over angel hair pasta. We both loved what we got. Then we were each served a sample desert platter. Outstanding!!
We had a really good dinner and our group enjoyed a special tour of the kitchen. This is a great place to go with friends. The staff and students goes out of their way to make sure you have an excellent dining experience.
