The Argonne House

It’s always wonderful and we enjoy it!

4 of us went to the Argonne. The service is great. The food is great and we had a wonderful time until the restaurant got full then it was very loud. We were in the back room and maybe that room is louder. We have a table in that room with about 20 people.

Our first dining in visit since the renovation. The new decor is clean and airy, and the bar looks great. We both ordered and really enjoyed the shrimp, and the Caesar salads were cold and well dressed. A bit of a small nit, but the lemons accompanying the shellfish should have been pitched, as they were spoiled. We must of caught our waitress on a bad day, for she was indifferent: argued about a drink order, failed to honor request to swap out extra veggies for starch, and it seemed like others who came in after us were served much more quickly. We are local and love seafood, but don’t see making Argonne a regular on our restaurant circuit.

Great food!

I get the same dinner 9 times out of 10 when I go to the Argonne. They are famous for their shrimp dinners. Nothing fancy but simple, delicious, well prepared dinners. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and a great bar and nice outside seating. We always leave saying what a great dinner. BTW - I had the pizza once and it was great!

They are quickly becoming our go to spot when we are in northern Michigan

Awesome as usual!

Our evening was super, as usual. We wouldn't have expected anything less seeing we have been going there for 65 years. We waited through their renovation and were so happy when they reopened and then this miserable virus hit. We were so happy to again be able to join them.

The shrimp dinner was great, very good service, and the newly remodeled dining area and bar very nice!

Very nice remodel ,spacing was good. New menu items were great. We had a very nice evening.

This isn’t the old Argonne...the menu may look the same but the food quality isn’t there....the boiled shrimp were fine, the fried were small and dried out, the beans totally cold, the coleslaw bitter, the bread fresh but crumbled as soon as you picked up a slice. So disappointed....

We were going to go last year but they had a fire, we were excited to hear they were back open this year and planned on going for my wife’s birthday and you guessed it COVID so we waited no Mother’s Day, my birthday and our anniversary but we finally got to go and it was worth the wait, loved it and going to make it a tradition

Famous for shrimp for good reason. Had a fantastic salad with our meal and although we did not order any of the specials they sounded local, seasonal and fantastic. Recommend.

Been going to the Argonne for 65 years and it’s always a great experience. Food and people and ambiance are all outstanding!

It has improved. Serving people great. If you like tempora batter on all appetizers good except onion rings were greasy and when manager took back chef said lack of batter and it was taken off bill salads good and fresh.
Inside is all new and updated but covid keeps people outside until cold weather. Nice bar that u could separate for now Fish and steak offerings hope will be back next summer. Huge old trees over extended patio with drapes and heaters

Mediocre food, quite disappointing.

Along with the so- so food, the waitress was too quick to serve initial food allowing very little time to settle in with a glass of wine and conversation. We felt rushed, not a good feeling!

We expected more from this newly managed restaurant. We will not return.

Food and service are always great! Manager always makes her rounds to reassure your experience is a pleasant one!

The Argonne House has become the new “go to” for many in the area. New, clean, well spaced decor. Excellent food and service. Their new air filtration system provides an extra level of comfort.

We had a great evening on the patio. We had not been to the Argonne for 25 years, but now will dine there regularly with family and friends.

No t social distancing. Masks. Not enforced. Not comfortable

First two drinks had bugs in them, next two drinks were not great tasting, wait staff very slow and did not check back . Normally it is better service.

Best food and service in northern Michigan. The shrimp is famous better than any 5 star restaurant in Florida New York or Chicago

My Anniversary was more special than expected by the way the new owners of the Argonne lovingly restored this treasure from my childhood. I remember falling asleep at the table in front of a pile of crab legs sitting across from my grandpa who would take me out to dinner here every Saturday night when he came up to see us on the weekends. This restoration payed hommage to those sacred memories and I am just so happy the restaurant is here for new memories to be created by sun kissed, lake exhausted guests.

So good! We loved our Shrimp boats❤️ Our wait staff was very attentive to our needs. The homemade bread is to die for!

If you are nervous about Covid skip the Argonne. The staff masks are laughable. Our waitress was inattentive and almost rude. We had to flag down a bus boy to get water refills. The food was good not excellent. Whitefish sold out at 7.

The rebirth of the Argonne has made for a very delightful dining experience. The food is excellent and served hot. The staff follows all the COVID protocols and we feel very safe. Going back in a couple of weeks!

I know the new owners are trying to duplicate the favorites of the original Argonne. They have succeeded with the shrimp and sauces and the bread. The cole slaw however was almost bitter tonight. I noticed the color of the coleslaw base was not the usual green tinged.

Our guests were thrilled with the new Argonne House and so were we. The food was excellent.

Felt safe; restaurant clean and tables well spaced. Outdoor seating too. We had a delay in getting our server at first; seemed to be some confusion. Everything after that was excellent, including our server.
