The Arbour - Pasadena
Always Exceptional food exceptional service by our server Juan he made our girls nite out a fantastic experience as usual exceptional cocktails I’m a regular but my 3 friends it was der first visit Nd Dey loved everything❣️
2nd time visiting the restaurant. The food was quite excellent, and in particular the bacon and quail egg dish. The big downside is the service. We had a reservation but were squeezed into a space (e.g. had to sit on same side of the table since there was no room on the other side) in a room dominated by an office party of 20 (and yes, there were speeches made). To make matters worse, the restaurant was understaffed, with the harried waiter trying to do his best to serve the large party (and at least one other table). There was zero service left for us. A real pity given the high quality of the food. So if you are looking for a fun/casual night out, I would recommend the restaurant. But if you are hoping to receive even adequate service, I'd look elsewhere.
We were seated 50 minutes after our scheduled reservation time. Other patrons that arrived after us were seated before us. When we were seated, we ordered a cesar salad, with wilted lettuce and hardly any dressing. After we finished our salad, our next course was to be “fired up.” That took another 20-30 minutes to get our second course. I then ordered at 28.00 bowl of pasta with a few clams. The wait, ambiance, price for the meal was not worth it. I will not be back. It was such a disappointment. We went to Houston’s the night before and the experience was well above that at The Arbour.
Entrees (lamb, steak and sea bass) were very well executed. The sides that came with the entrees were phenomenal! I wish there is a wider selection of hot appetizers. Two of them were actually pasta dishes that are on the lunch menu.
Exceeded expectations. Wonderful dinner. Food was 4 stars instead of 5 because my lamb was originally over cooked. The new one came back cooked perfectly, but the flavor was a bit bland compared to the over cooked one. But overall still very very good! Will definitely come back!
Amazing foodie experience. Excellent service. Hidden gem.
Good food, not great. Good service, not great. Ambiance left a little to be desired, more like a cafe than the $350 we spent for 4 with no alcohol. Silverware was below par, and the tableware was standard college cafeteria quality.
We were here for Mothers day brunch today. They had a 3 course fixed price meal. The drinks took too long to be served. Follow up drinks were equally slow. For appetizer we had the heirloom tomato salad, pea soup and burrata cheese. The heirloom tomato salad were cherry tomatoes cut in half and ice cold. The dish lacked flavor. The burette cheer was given a thumbs up by the 12 year old. The pea soup was good but again just average. For main courses we had carbonara pasta, chicken and waffles, avocado toast and eggs Benedict. The eggs on the Benedict were served with over cooked eggs. The replacement dish arrived after everyone else was done eating. The chicken was called ok and compared to Popeyes as being better (again the 12 year old).
It seems each visit the food never disappoints. Pasadena has a winner.
The food was good, wine selection good. The service staff was nice and friendly. The huge knock on them, we waited 1 hour, yes 1 hour, for our table. We had made reservations for 8p and was seated at 9p. That was terrible. A new table could’ve been constructed in that amount of time
My husband and I celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary at ‘The Arbour Restaurant’ And we were pleasantly surprised. Our wait help Aloura was a gem and helped to make our dinner celebration extra special
No I wouldn't recommend it. With the name "Arbor" I was expecting an atmosphere with plants, and a coziness. Instead it had booths for Upscale, big business type lunches. Very few people were dining from 11:30 to 2:30. The Cobb type salad wasn't very special, nor tasty. I was meeting a high school friend from the '60's who lives in Tarzana, while I live in Long Beach. We've been to Pasadena hundred of times over the years, and thought this restaurant would be lovely.
The waiter was very good - prompt and attentive.
The sea bass was dry with little taste, the vegetables were dry as well. That with two glasses of wine our dinner was $73 each. Expensive
Excellent food! Great ambiance and service. I'm definitely going back!
Wonderful creative food dishes, exceptional service, true upscale experience without being stuffy.
Other than the egg entree everything was great. Juan was great. Our friends were very pleased with their food.
Always a great experience to dine at the Arbour. Fantastic food great ambiance exceptional service wonderful staff and the chef will always accommodate whatever u desire with your dishes! We luv luv this place!!!
Amazing place to go food was fantastic and the staff was perfect!
Yummy creative food, friendly service, little pricey but not too bad. 😋
It was our first visit to The Arbour and we thoroughly enjoyed our food, the wait staff, and the overall ambiance.
The Arbour is one of the best restaurant in Pasadena. Every bite is an experience. The presentation is tasteful and modern. The chef is truly exceptional. It always is a memorable experience. The rack of lamb was cooked to perfection. The Dover sole my wife had was perfectly cooked. I have made Dover sole. It is a delicate balance. It can easily be undercooked or overcooked. The Arbour cooks it to perfection. The Baked California my wife and I shared was heavenly. No words to describe it. You have to try it for yourself. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I was disappointed after all the hype. The ambiance is really nice. The food was disappointing - I had heard the duck was amazing and yes, the presentation was fun but the duck itself was really lacking in flavor. The service was also quite amateur. But because it is probably the best ambiance in Pasadena, I will return.
Delicious food and great service. Loved the interior
Tonight was another lovely dining experience at the Arbour. If it weren't so far from my home in Orange County, I'd be there every week! The farm to table menu changes regularly, and you can really taste the quality of the seasonal ingredients. Each dish was attractively plated and delicious in its own way. The staff are all knowledgable, and go out of their way to ensure each diner has a memorable evening. The decor and atmosphere are elegant enough for any occasion, yet comfortable for a relaxed meal. I look forward to returning to the Arbour very soon.
Food was outstanding except for the special of the day which was the halibut. Flavorless and over cooked. Chicken was outstanding - moist and delicious as was the seared ahi. Beet salad, bacon and chili appetizers were tasty and great starters. We had a reservation but they were 1/2 hour behind schedule. It were very apologetic. Our server wasn’t the most attentive and that kind of put a damper on the evening but we will return for the food and hopefully better service.
Chef Ian and his wife Nancy have brought a beautiful and well orchestrated restaurant to Pasadena with exquisite and innovative cuisine, outstanding wines/beverages, knowledgeable staff and a gracious and elegant setting.
We highly recommend this restaurant for everyday or special occasions.
We would like to commend Mackenzie for her professionalism at the front desk and Brigette for her stellar service and knowledge of the menu and wines.
We look forward to our next visit.
We really enjoyed our food! Service was great!
The Arbor has two dining areas so there can be a good sized crowd but you don't feel crowded or overwhelmed by the noise level. There is also a private dining room which looked like it could hold 20+/-. The space is nicely decorated with a huge bar, two fireplaces and an open kitchen. Chef Ian is very welcoming and his staff is friendly, alert and professional. The food is outstanding. Our table had the spring vegetable risotto (special of the day) the chopped salad and the cheeseburger. Each dish was beautifully plated and super delicious. The portions were enormous so we all took almost half of our lunch home. We did have desert however. There were only a few choices but each was inventive and decadent. YUM!
Love Ian and Nancy Gresick’s gem of a restaurant on Lake
The food and service was wonderful
Easter Brunch had a wonderful selection for each course. We started with egg salad which was perfectly boiled eggs along with fresh greens. The entrée salmon was moist with a crispy skin. The fried chicken was moist with a subtle seasoning in the coating. The chocolate cake was a perfect, not too sweet ending to a great meal. Service was on-point, attentive to filling our cups without asking, even though it was a busy day. The ambiance was lovely for a Spring holiday meal.
Great food! Ambiance lovely.
Waiter was a little too chatty but he was passionate.
32oz Rib-eye for two was amazing as well as everything else. Highly recommend The Arbour.
Best meal I've had in a long time! Food was excellent, appreciated by foodies. We had oysters for appetizer and they were plump, and delicious. The bacon was thick, salty and disappeared quickly. The garlic chicken was so juicy and tender, the beef cooked to perfection. The tuna has a great bland of flavors, and the bass was to die for. The desserts were so delicious. We usually do not get desserts after dinner, but the selection was so inventive that we indulged. The baked Californian was a winner, although the blackberries and lemon curd was close second. Ah, and the wine selection has a lot to offer. The service is excellent, attentive, great recommendations for a lactose intolerant guest. A great dinner.
We loved this place. It was our 1st time! Food was amazing. Waiter was very knowledgeable. At the end of our time he seemed distracted and we had to flag him down to get our bill. It was like he had moved on from us. Still, we would definitely come back. Loved the atmosphere, drink list and menu.
First time visit, great vibe on Friday night.
Our waiter was really nice and very friendly. Food and drinks were great! Environment and interior is worth going again! I noticed they have private room for big parties too. It would be good for birthday party or any kind of party!
If you do nothing else for yourself some boring weekday lunch hour, order the English Pea and Gorgonzola Risotto. Fabulous! A generous (one reason I recommend it) portion that is so creamy and delicious you will want to linger and savor it. So plan ahead in case you have a deadline back at the office. And Bonus hint: if your companion orders it as well, surreptitiously notice how he/she eats it. From the side to the middle? Or a stripe right down the center? Or in some random pattern? It's a Risotto Rorschach...
The noise level was high the evening we, hubby and I, went to celebrate his birthday.
The food was OK, but nothing exceptional. The portions were quite small. This is
something I like, but definitely NOT ENOUGH food for my husband.
Overall, I was disappointed with the newer in Pasadena restaurant. Especially since
many of our friends seemed to be impressed by the Arbour restaurant.
I did not notice anything exceptional!!??
Server was very accommodating and the fish plates were cooked perfectly.
Excellent service and good quality food.
