   Restaurant was very quiet. There were four of us having brunch. Our food came and every dish was cold. Plates were hot Food was cold. Service was very poor. Very disappointed. Not our first time here. Will def sit at the bar next time

   This was our first time there and it was awesome! The starters were amazing and the main course was magnificent! We loved the short rib and the chicken. The drinks were especially good too!

   My husband and I went to the Apparatus Room to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and his upcoming birthday. The ambiance of the restaurant is very beautiful and you can immediately tell there was considerable detail put into the decor. Now to the food/drinks...the cocktails I had were very delicious (Angel Paloma and Crimson Stag) and were the highlight of my dining experience My husband's appetizer was the McTartare; unfortunately, he felt it was very bland, lacked seasoning, and could have benefited from more vinegar. My appetizer was the Sourdough Bread with ricotta cheese and sweet preserves; I enjoyed the blackberry preserve; the ricotta cheese had literally no taste at all. The bread itself was just okay. For his entrée my husband ordered the salmon dish with a side of crispy potatoes. While the salmon was cooked to perfection, the portion size was too small for the price and it was exceptionally BLAND. The fennel that accompanied the salmon was undercooked and not edible, and the lentils were again, very bland. The crispy potatoes were the saving grace and were enjoyable. For my entrée I ordered the chicken dish with a side of Brussel sprouts and mashed sweet potatoes. My chicken was cooked thoroughly and it was tender but, like the salmon, lacked seasoning and was bland. The mashed sweet potatoes were an absolute hit, and I enjoyed the Brussel sprouts. Overall I give The Apparatus Room 2 out of 5 stars mainly because the food just wasn't enjoyable enough for the $182 it costs us to dine.

   Service was sparse. A few of the dishes we ordered were no longer available so we had to order a replacement. Steak was over cooked. Unimpressed after hearing nothing but good things about this place.

   food was incredibly bland and without flavor or spices. I felt scammed for the wine received for the price. I Received a twist off bottle of $65 wine that retails for less than $10. This restaurant is not up to par with the other fine dining options in Detroit.

    Service, especially Rory was excellent. Noise level was high. Very trendy, could have been in NYC or Chicago. Were seated at a 2 table top, but chairs were too low. Don't want to eat at a table when my elbows are above my shoulders. Crispy potatoes in aioli sauce? VERY SPICY. Our fellow eaters, once we moved, thank you again Rory, from Germany were choking on the level of heat. Can't thank Rory enough for taking care of us on our 30th wedding anniversary. Loved the hot fudge cream puff for dessert. Scallop dish excellent, salmon dish, excellent. Loved what was done with the old fire station. Always wanted to see it. Valet parking guy was great. Would I go back? Only if I wanted to spend another $150 for two people with 2 drinks, no appetizers, 2 entrees and 2 desserts. Otherwise no I won't be back. BUT thank you Rory - you deserve a raise!

    We were there on a Sunday just before 1 p.m. There were scattered guests, but it wasn't crowded. It was gorgeous and our food and drinks were quite good, though the Chocolate Chai wasn't a loose leaf tea as I'd expected from the menu.

    We had a lovely brunch just before checking out of the hotel! Highly recommend the espresso martini and the chicken and waffles. Can’t wait to come back soon for dinner!

    We had the Chefs special for six. The food was good but the service was slow. The food was not enough for the value. We were very disappointed. We had been there before and were excited tonshare the chef's special with out of town guests.

    Total rip off experience. Let me say that I am happy to pay top prices for great food and service. This place is WAY over charging. The drinks were tiny (I had a cosmo). It looks like a few tablespoons. We had apps with bread and only comes with 3 pieces. I would never go back. We walked out paying over $500 and still hungry. The food was either way over seasoned - Caesar salad or bland - scallops. The scallops were small yet BIG prices. My overall impression - get over yourself. You’re not good enough to charge like high end restaurants. Step it up or reduce your prices.

    Nice ambiance. I wish it were quieter. Even with not that many tables occupied the noise level was high. Good cocktail list. Not very fond of the desert offerings.

    We had an amazing time celebrating my birthday here! Marvin was absolutely fantastic. He was extremely tentative and awesome! He definitely made my birthday even better than it already was. The food was wonderful and the drinks were BOMB! Would seriously recommend.

    Amazing food, we ordered the table 6 course dinner. Tons of unique flavors coming one after another! The restaurant was beautiful and our sever was great and very knowledgeable about the dishes being served. We will absolutely be back!

    We sat at the bar for 25 minutes. The man next to us finally asked the bartender if we could have drink menus. The bartender never came back to take our drink order. We left the bar after 30 minutes without ever having a drink order taken. It wasn't busy at all. We watched him take orders and serve other people. We had dinner reservations that we kept, the meal service was good.

    Unfortunately, we had high hopes for this restaurant and left disappointed. The place is beautiful and it has a good vibe, but so many let downs. It took a while for the waitress to greet us and to order drinks. My white wine was served at room temperature. The Smoke Lake Trout Spread was extremely salty, although still tasty. When our steaks arrived we were missing steak knives and ketchup and waited almost 10 minutes until that was resolved. Our steaks were not cooked to temp and were very fatty. The house frites were covered in curry seasoning, which was not stated on the menu, and it was also served with a salad with truffle oil, which also was not stated on the menu, and my dining companion hates truffle. The waitress also spilled wine all over the table on my refill. We left disappointed and hungry.

    We were met at the entrance by two very efficient and excellent hostesses. I’m sorry we did not find out their names. One was from Chicago and one was dressed in a beautiful and fashionable black and white outfit with black and white boots. They were delightful. We were sat at the perfect table for two, two armchairs in front of the fireman pole. The ambiance was warm , buzzy and trendy. Our server, Marvin, was fantastic!! He was knowledgeable, thorough, approachable and attentive. He made the evening memorable! Our dinner was delicious, reasonably priced and we will definitely return!

    A little bit of a deception. Food was good but nothing that can’t be made at home. Flavor was not surprising although quality was good. They kept us waiting for our reserved table and also waited more than expected between courses. Deviled eggs, trout spread, Detroit signature dish were all not original, although the chef tried. Ribs were good. Not thinking in going back, pricey for what they offer. Decoration nice but very noisy.

    First time there. Excellent service and very cool decor. Had the Salmon, not overly flavorful. The chicken and potatoes my mate had were excellent. Good wine too.

    My partner & I went to the apparatus room for a late Valentine’s Day celebration. First impression was the interior design & decor was beautiful. We were sat at a table for 2 and one side was a long couch style seating. The couch side was extremely comfortable and the pillows were a very unique and cozy touch. Our server Charity was excellent. She was friendly, personable, & accommodating to my noted allergies. She gave us the recommendation to start with bread which we appreciated because they were busy & she knew we would want something to snack on while we waited for our meal. We ordered the Ribeye & a side of Brussels sprouts with crispy potatoes to share. The ribeye was unfortunately over cooked, the server offered to remake it for us but it took a while and it wasn’t in our time frame to wait. It was supposed to come out medium rare & it was more medium well. We still ate it and enjoyed the pieces that were cooked lighter in the center. The crispy potatoes weren’t our favorite, due to the excessive mustard seed and the potatoes being rather soft and not “crispy”. My only other complaint was that we didn’t have any silverware when our food arrived. Overall, I enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was great. We definitely just expected more of a wow on our food at the price point. Not sure we would be back but I would still recommend a visit to a friend on a slower week-day night.

    At the end of the day the food just didn’t measure up to the cost of the dining experience. The amaretto sour ordered came out as an amaro, spaghetti bolognese tasted like chilli sauce that needed salt, sourdough bread was 4 pieces of bread for $20, brussel sprouts were bland and mushy. Over priced for low quality food and production. Convenient hotel restaurant. Not a destination restaurant.
