Not thrilled about the menu. No good choices. All sandwiches. Very limited.
The food was great as usual but the waitress, Lauren that we started with had a more than unwelcoming attitude. She was very short in her response to our dinner menu item inquiries. We requested a differ waiter and received Dean who was much better. The evening went along great.
Me and my girlfriend loved the food!
Excellent Easter Brunch Buffet - best we've ever had! Service was lacking in attentiveness.
Have enjoyed dinner here twice and highly recommend. Easter brunch was below average.
We tried the cooks dinner, and left after the 3rd course. None of our dishes tasted good.
Great restaurant and enjoyed everything.
We stayed at the Detroit Foundation Hotel with the Rise and Dine option on our room. We had two breakfasts and dinner in the Apparatus Room. Everything was perfect. The wait staff are very attentive without bothering you.
Went here for brunch for a birthday celebration. This was, by far, the easiest place to make a reservation for a large group (8 people). The staff was very friendly and helpful on the phone. The food was great, and so was the atmosphere. Everyone loved their breakfast sandwiches and hashes. The blueberry pancakes were to die for. The only thing holding me back from 5 stars is that we brought in a small birthday cake for the celebration, and after eating, asked for a knife to cut the cake. The waiter insisted on taking it to the back and cutting it for us without telling the amount of the “cutting fee”. Aside from the fact that a cutting fee is ridiculous for an 8-inch round cake, the fee ended up to be $40, amounting to $5 per person when all we asked for was a clean knife. Needless to say, definitely go here to eat, but be aware if you are having a celebration as we were.
On a busy Friday night, the atmosphere was lively without being intrusive. The food was superb, cocktails were tasty and well-made, and our server was knowledgeable and accommodating. Generally, the overall vibe and experience at this place is outstanding - a rugged Detroit version of luxurious dining. Oh, and convenient valet parking. What is not to like? Eager to come back!
Awesome dinner with awesome service! We did the chefs choice for four people. Everything dish was delicious and satisfying!
The food was wonderful, the service was top notch. I highly recommend everyone try the Chef's Menu. It's adventurous and very generous. My only complaint... The kitchen staff was a little loud. Control the swearing and rude comments to your staff. It was very distracting.
Lovely re-do of the old fire station. Pleasant evening. The filet mignon was outstanding.
We absolutely love this restaurant! It’s our Detroit favorite right now. We had dinner resos Fri. Stayed in the hotel and had brunch there Sat.
We had asked for a cozy table Friday night and got sat in the middle of a crowded banquet which was a little uncomfortable. Our server really was unpleasant. She had a very rude attitude towards answering our questions. It made us uncomfortable. The food was excellent though!
Saturday was a much better experience. We asked for a cozy seat and got a very comfortable table. Our server was extremely friendly and the food was excellent. I’m glad because our server Friday night put such a bad vibe out we weren’t sure how we felt about the restaurant. We are considering booking the Chefs table in the future with friends.
It’s just unfortunate how one server can really taint a place.
We will be back though because Sat redeemed things.
Thank you for the great bar service Fri and great brunch Sat.
Celebrated a friends birthday ...I was only guest who had eaten here before. WE all loved every item we ordered and all first timers said they will definitely return. Our wait person Noah was great!
Our start of Bread and butter was incredible! Best bread!!
Cod had most amazing unique flavors. Short ribs were tender and tasty. Brussels spouts and even side of broccolini were outstanding.
Will return again....great Detroit spot that has it all!
Great food and great service!
The fish lunch special was not fresh nor did it taste good. Hudson salad was very disappointing. Beet salad was wonderful. Music is too loud for conversing
Apps came fast and mains took forever. Not the best combination.
Excellent time/started with parking and remained the same throughout the stay. Meal was excellent.
I love the atmosphere at the Apparatus Room. It is so welcoming and beautifully appointed. We went for a late breakfast and the food was delicious. Unfortunately, we did not have good service. The waitress was pleasant but seemed distracted and was not very attentive. Our first time there the food & service were both excellent so I will definitely go again.
We were at the Apparatus Room for our anniversary. My wife and I are both foodies so we of course went for the chef's menu. Every course was fantastic but the one that stood out the most to us was the skate "schnitzel". Our server was a little awkward. He never suggested the wine pairing which we asked for once we received our first course. Service was too fast between courses. I know in the States a lot of people like that, but it's annoying when you are there to enjoy the evening. As soon as it was mentioned they adjusted the pace however, which was very appreciated. Small hiccups, both corrected quickly. I respect that. Overall fantastic evening and would highly recommend.
We went for my husbands birthday and had the chefs tasting menu. The food was amazing and the service was even better. Can’t wait to go back.
They should definitely pursue getting rated by Michelin. This place deserves a star!
Excellent food and service. A great experience all around.
Everything was great. Waitress was super accommodating and knowledgeable
The food was amazing & mouthwatering! I cannot stop thinking about it. All of flavors were SO good! We had a wonderful down to earth, easy going waitress! She was really cool! First time here, great experience, great atmosphere! Will definitely return!!!
Amazing food, atmosphere, and service. We were on a time crunch and they made sure we got our food in a timely manner.
The food and service was outstanding. Our waiter, Adam, was exceptional.
Amazing food and atmosphere. One of our favorites
The short rib, the cod and the pork chop were amazing. The flavors in every dish was so balanced and innovative. I will visit this place again for sure.
The experience was excellent. We brought two colleagues from China for lunch and explained the them the history behind the hotel (and old firehouse). Even though it was a bit loud as the room was full of "Engineers", the food was great, the service was excellent, and the speed of service was also great.
I was pleased that even though we ended up 15 minutes late for the reservation, the hostess was very welcoming and did not mind that my meeting ran over. I would highly recommend if you get the chance for a business lunch "downtown" to visit the Apparatus Room. It was my first visit, and I plan to visit as much as I can (both for business and personal use).
Great spot for dinner, brunch and LOVE the Thursday night music - especially last week's Apropos!
During the Boat Show my sister and I had an exceptional first experience at your restaurant. This time, however, was disappointing. The food was below par. I ordered the hamburger for the second time. It was dry and little crispy in parts. The parmesan fries were extremely salty. Very poor. My friend had a salad which she enjoyed. She returned fried cauliflower dish. Our server was superb. She replaced my fries. It's so embarrassing to want to show off your restaurant and to have such a bad food experience. Get better.
Fantastic food and experience as always
Good was amazing. Get the Cauliflower appetizer. The restaurant itself is also a cool space and not too loud.
Loved everything about the dinner
Adam was awesome.
I would recommend to go on another day other than sunday brunch. The music was way too loud and we could not even have a conversation. My ears are still ringing. The food was great , the service was great, but we could not enjoy it because the music was way too loud.
