Apps came fast and mains took forever. Not the best combination.
Excellent time/started with parking and remained the same throughout the stay. Meal was excellent.
I love the atmosphere at the Apparatus Room. It is so welcoming and beautifully appointed. We went for a late breakfast and the food was delicious. Unfortunately, we did not have good service. The waitress was pleasant but seemed distracted and was not very attentive. Our first time there the food & service were both excellent so I will definitely go again.
We were at the Apparatus Room for our anniversary. My wife and I are both foodies so we of course went for the chef's menu. Every course was fantastic but the one that stood out the most to us was the skate "schnitzel". Our server was a little awkward. He never suggested the wine pairing which we asked for once we received our first course. Service was too fast between courses. I know in the States a lot of people like that, but it's annoying when you are there to enjoy the evening. As soon as it was mentioned they adjusted the pace however, which was very appreciated. Small hiccups, both corrected quickly. I respect that. Overall fantastic evening and would highly recommend.
They should definitely pursue getting rated by Michelin. This place deserves a star!
We went for my husbands birthday and had the chefs tasting menu. The food was amazing and the service was even better. Can’t wait to go back.
Excellent food and service. A great experience all around.
Everything was great. Waitress was super accommodating and knowledgeable
The food was amazing & mouthwatering! I cannot stop thinking about it. All of flavors were SO good! We had a wonderful down to earth, easy going waitress! She was really cool! First time here, great experience, great atmosphere! Will definitely return!!!
Amazing food, atmosphere, and service. We were on a time crunch and they made sure we got our food in a timely manner.
The food and service was outstanding. Our waiter, Adam, was exceptional.
The short rib, the cod and the pork chop were amazing. The flavors in every dish was so balanced and innovative. I will visit this place again for sure.
The experience was excellent. We brought two colleagues from China for lunch and explained the them the history behind the hotel (and old firehouse). Even though it was a bit loud as the room was full of "Engineers", the food was great, the service was excellent, and the speed of service was also great.
I was pleased that even though we ended up 15 minutes late for the reservation, the hostess was very welcoming and did not mind that my meeting ran over. I would highly recommend if you get the chance for a business lunch "downtown" to visit the Apparatus Room. It was my first visit, and I plan to visit as much as I can (both for business and personal use).
Great spot for dinner, brunch and LOVE the Thursday night music - especially last week's Apropos!
During the Boat Show my sister and I had an exceptional first experience at your restaurant. This time, however, was disappointing. The food was below par. I ordered the hamburger for the second time. It was dry and little crispy in parts. The parmesan fries were extremely salty. Very poor. My friend had a salad which she enjoyed. She returned fried cauliflower dish. Our server was superb. She replaced my fries. It's so embarrassing to want to show off your restaurant and to have such a bad food experience. Get better.
Fantastic food and experience as always
Good was amazing. Get the Cauliflower appetizer. The restaurant itself is also a cool space and not too loud.
Loved everything about the dinner
Adam was awesome.
I would recommend to go on another day other than sunday brunch. The music was way too loud and we could not even have a conversation. My ears are still ringing. The food was great , the service was great, but we could not enjoy it because the music was way too loud.
The music was way to loud.
This is a beautiful space! The food and service were good. However, we went during brunch and there was live jazz band playing, which was awesome, but since the space is so open with high ceilings, the music was was very loud which made it hard to have a conversation. I don't think the band needed speakers to accompany their instruments -- would have been just right without them.
6 of us (friends and family) attended The Apparatus Room for Sunday brunch. We chose The Apparatus Room because of the food menu, fabulous service in the past, and low noise level as we enjoy talking to each other during our meal. Little did we know, it was Jazz Sunday (moved up a week due to Easter). The band was SO LOUD, we could not talk at all without yelling to each other at the table. I walked out with a pounding headache. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy a good jazz band - soft background music while eating. This was high-pitched and blaring. The meal was not enjoyable and I could not wait to leave. On a brighter note, the service and food was very good.
We were there for the jazz brunch, which is really great. Nice vibe, good crowd. Biggest issue was the noise. The acoustics in there aren't very good anyway and when you have a band playing, comfortable conversation is almost impossible. Otherwise, great overall.
Yes, but the menu is very limited. It’s also expensive based on the portion you get. The bar area looks incredible with how open it is and the lighting. Drinks were good. The dinner part could use some work as far as more options and better pricing. It was also our anniversary and our waitress was very kind in congratulating us. It would’ve been nice to receive a small dessert complimentary at the end of our meal instead of asking us if we wanted anything more. All in all though a very unique restaurant, just could use some improvement. Thank you!
Wonderful evening. One of the best of Detroit. Highly recommend.
Beautiful ambience with great service. Connected to the Detroit Foundation Hotel
Need more STARS for servive and food. Excellent +++×. drinks were full. Overall a wonderful experience.
I will just say there are better options downtown these days that have better food & service.
The building, decor, and ambience at Apparatus Room is really cool. I just felt the menu selection was limited and food was mediocre for the price.
I wanted to love The Apparatus Room, but I couldn’t. The look of the place is great, and the service was very good. The problem was the menu. The cauliflower appetizer was spicier than I wanted, and there was no warning. One of my companion’s pimento and ham sandwich was inedible. How do you mess up a ham and cheese, especially for someone who loves cheese? My other companion got the only fish option on the menu, a cod “snitzel” that ended up being a fried fish sandwich on a bun. This was your only fish option for a Friday in Lent, by the way—even your daily special was pork! All told, we three spent about $120 for lunch (including tip, a single beer, and $ for parking). How is that possible? I can’t recommend to friends, as much as I wish I could. Please revamp your menu, including more seafood options and something besides salads for those who are gluten free.
Good restaurant with potential to be great. Everything is by the book, which is disappointing because we were expecting something more unique. The food and appetizers arrived at the same time. We were asked how food "looked" before we tasted it. The cauliflower wasn't fried long enough and the "kimchi" pickling was as refined as we'd like. The mustard seeds in the cole slaw weren't comforting. Overall the use of either sweet or vinegary taste accents needed to be used more sparingly.
Great ale selection.
Night music came on a little early but overall great food and service and vibe
Ambience is good, some communal tables, so possibly not ideal for a quiet date. Food and drinks were excellent. Short ribs were spectacular and scallops were good, but not outstanding. Drink menu extensive but pricey. Very nice atmosphere. Recommend!
Wonderful and unique ambiance. Seating is awesome and very comfortable in creating conversation and vibe. Craft cocktails are solid and the food was very good. Presentation was exceptional and the food was very good. Will definitely come back, if not simply to enjoy such a cool space!
The Apparatus Room was a beautifully decorated and friendly place. We were there on a Monday night, so it was quieter than a weekend. The food was very good - but for a foodie - outstanding. A little pricey, but expected. Service excellent.
Try the short rib. Unreal. Also the risotto was one of the better items I have tried in a while as well.
Service is top notch starting from the hostess stand to the cleaning staff. Food is delicious. Can’t wait for a return visit.
Paige was our server when we came in for brunch. She went above and beyond to accommodate any special requests we had. Please add biscuits and gravy to the menu because the sausage gravy was heaven in my mouth. The eggs were even cooked perfectly. Bravo!! I will certainly be back for more!!
Perfect place for brunch, food was amazing and the setting is spectacularl!
The food was amazing, which made up for the fact we were done with our appetizer and salad course before our cocktails even came out... service was meh, but the food was a wow
