   Reliably great experience! We’ve been to the Apparatus Room several times for special occasions and it’s always lived up to a special night out! Service is consistently great. The menu is not vast, but everything on it is good! And ambience is sophisticated fun.

   Beautiful spot. I reserved a table for one as I wanted a quiet breakfast and got nice high leather back chairs with a small table. Perfect spot and manager was very accommodating. Foundation breakfast sandwich with roasted potatoes was amazing. Macchiato was not great tasted burnt but regular coffee was pretty good.

   We were exhibiting at the Automate Trade Show and entertained guests 2 times at The Apparatus Room, once for lunch and once for dinner. The food, service and atmosphere was fantastic. Looking forward to treating my spouse there soon.

   A mixed experience, somewhat disappointing. Pluses: + Great communication with the staff before the event. I appreciated their help to organize. + For dinner meeting related to a trade show across the street at Huntington Place, you can't beat the convenience of this location. + I personally appreciate the history of the building. Minuses: - They were sold out of at least half the beers they advertise on their menu. How does that happen? You have a 4-day trade show across the street attracting tens of thousands of people and the closest restaurant to the show doesn't have inventory to serve the crowd. That's not good - and it's hard to be a good host when your party can't get what the menu leads them to believe they can have. - Pretty good food. I wouldn't call it great, spectacular, or excellent. Pretty good. - OK service but the kitchen can't seem to handle a sold-out night. Plates delivered at different times. - Very high noise level. Wow! Maybe not the best spot for dinner conversation. - It is an historic building, but I didn't see any displays or historical info that gives a nod to the history. Bottom line: needs improvement, but I'd give them another chance.

   Very busy evening at the restaurant with several large private dinner parties, and quite loud live DJ music for the many people around the bar. Despite that, the staff were very attentive despite how busy and chaotic it was for them. The meals we ordered were excellent, very happy with our menu choices and came out from the kitchen within a reasonable time even with the restaurant being packed. Was difficult with all of the noise from the crowds and music to hear anyone, but the food was really very good. Somehow we were reported as an OpenTable no-show despite arriving and checking in on time - the hostess even confirmed she found our reservation and took us right to our table, but perhaps with all of the noise and chaos, a step was missed by the hostess when we checked in and were seated.

   The ambiance was really nice, there was a lot of history in the room. I was looking forward to the dining experience however it ended up not being good. The menu was overpriced for what was served. An $18 bloody mary should probably come in larger than an 8-10oz glass. The food was equally expensive and not filling. My co-worker ended up having stomach issues from her lunch. To make matters worse, one of the bartenders was mixing a drink in a shaker and dropped it on the floor. Amazingly the shaker did not come apart and lose the drink, less amazingly she picked it up off of the floor, shook it a couple more times, and proceeded to pour the drink into a glass for the customer. As such, I will not be dining here again and would not recommend it.

   This was by far the worst dining experience we have ever had. The lettuce was brown on the salad. We order Halibut which was severed raw and cold in the middle. The manager did respond and apologized, we went to a different restaurant for dinner. We will never return.

   Wow, loving the menu! We haven’t been back to AR since before COVID. The food was EXCELLENT! It wasn’t cheap but no place is these days. The service was fantastic too. This place should be on everyone’s “must try” list, a Detroit classic.

    Enjoyed a fantastic Mother's Day celebration. Our server, Nate, was excellent. He made some great suggestions and did a fantastic job of pacing the food delivery so we didn't feel rushed. And the food was top notch - everything was excellent. Our favorites were the halibut, the risotto and the pastrami short rib. We love the Apparatus Room and will definitely be back.

    Went to The Apparatus Room for Mother’s Day brunch. $85 per person for terrible food and poor service. The food was cold, and not fresh. The staff was generally aloof. I spoke to a manager at the end of our meal, but he seemed disinterested. On top of it a 20% gratuity was added to the bill. Avoid.

    We really enjoyed our time at the Apparatus Room from the time we walked through the door the hostess Makayla was fantastic and professional we didn’t like the initial seat she had for us and she had no problem putting us in seats of our choice. Our server Shelby was awesome and kind all of our food was delicious. We will definitely be back!! Thank you Apparatus Room.

    A beautiful place inside, drinks were delicious and food was unimpressive for the value. I would return for drinks and ambiance only. I had the chicken sandwich, the bread was twice as big as the chicken. The side salad was lettuce and dressing, pretty boring for the cost.

    From the wonderful service to a special interaction with Manager Dave, we enjoyed a fantastic meal and overall experience at The Apparatus Room. The building is full of eclectic history and the ambiance made it a great choice to share with out of town guests!

    Our server Shelby was lovely and attentive and gave great recommendations regarding plates & pairings. Everyone who waited on us was great. We enjoyed the bread service, carpacchio, artichoke salad, pork dish and garganelli. Flavors on everything were top notch. Loved the Calabrian Chilli in the pasta dish, perfect spice levels! Crimson Stag was our favorite cocktail of the evening. Dessert was beyond excellent, Manchego cheesecake and banana cake. The pastry chef is absolutely killing it, I'm hoping to return again & again just to work my way through the dessert menu! Thank you to all staff and chefs for an absolutely delightful experience.

    Not enough vegan options. Just because I’m vegan doesn’t mean I want a plate of cauliflower for dinner. The bread you pay $9 for was 3 pieces, not enough. Menu wasn’t updated online. I left unsatisfied and ate some more at the casino after a $150 bill. Won’t return

    I was there to celebrate my friend, Andrea's birthday. I loved the sour dough bread with the ricotta cheese and jam. The chicken was delicious. Andrea and Ron loved the Eggs with Caviar. We all enjoyed the salad which we shared. Ronnie thought the steak was the best he's had in years. Delicious cocktails. I did let the server know where the Nick and Nora martini glass was a reference to Nick and Nora Charles from the Dashiel Hammett movies from the 30s and 40s. Of course, she wouldn't know the reference because she's young. We had a great time. I gave you a good review on Google, where I have over 900,000 views

    Our first time dining at the apparatus room was excellent. The ambiance, our drinks, the food was all exceptional. We had halibut and cauliflower and a few Manhattans with Detroit bourbon, very good. Our server Marvin was outstanding, he is attentive, personable, professional and humored our questions about the space. We will definitely come back and recommend!

    I was really looking forward to this experience. The service was wonderful. Kate was a fantastic server--they were out of two of the dishes my husband wanted and because they were short-staffed, they wanted to bring everything out at once but then ended up bringing apps first, then meals together. My drink was nice but on the small side. My chicken on top of the green goddess salad was inedible. Small, chewy, rubbery, could not cut it with aggressive sawing, and tasteless. They did not charge for the chicken, but I was shocked that the manager did not do more since we dropped a few hundred dollars on our meal for 5. I am disappointed to say the least. I did not feel well this morning and think maybe there was more food/drink that was under standards than I realize.

    Overall, I was underwhelmed by the experience here, which was surprising, given the popularity (and price) of the restaurant. We arrived on-time for our 11:00 a.m. brunch reservations and were seated within 5 minutes. Our server arrived at our table within the next 5 minutes to take our drink order. Then, things slowed down. Our server returned to our table a number of times, and as it turned out, there was just one bartender handling orders for the restaurant. The server was able to pour my coffee and mimosa, but she was unable to make my husband's specialty alcoholic coffee drink due to whatever liquors needed to be included (perhaps she didn't know how to make it). After 20 mins of waiting, our server took our food order and asked my husband if she could buy him a replacement drink (he ordered a bloody mary, which our server made). The food was quick, but somehow also overcooked. I ordered the crustless mushroom and spinach quiche, which was hard on the outside and rubbery on the inside. My husband ordered the Firehouse Breakfast, with over-medium eggs. The inside of the eggs were cooked to order, but the outside was overdone. While our server was great, the rest was completed unexpected. Because this is a popular restaurant for Downtown Detroit, we plan to give it another try for something other than brunch. If this is the typical experience (and I don't think it is), I wouldn't recommend the restaurant.
