The Aperfield Inn was formerly known as The Fox And Hounds after The ''Old Surrey Foxhounds'' who used to meet at the pub before their hunt. It now takes its name from an ancient spelling of "apple tree field" and is built on land that once formed part of the Manor of Aperfield. This was one of the manors that William the Conqueror presented to his half-brother following the Norman invasion in 1066, so it's fair to say the area is rich in history!

Westerham is surrounded by woodland and meadows and is a Designated Area of Natural Beauty. There's plenty of great walking and cycling at the 250 acres of formal gardens, wildflower meadows and nature trails of High Elms Country Park.

Lovers of historic buildings are also well catered for, with Sir Winston Churchill's home at Chartwell just a short drive away. You can also see the study where Charles Darwin composed "On the origin of species" at nearby Down House.

Bit below par today. Roast Beef came out dry and cold. I could tell before it touched the table - sent straight back. Odd you would send that out to customers. Second go was better but still dry - meat was brown all the way through. Cauliflower cheese (extra side dish) was just boiled cauliflower with a tasteless cream sauce. Yorkshire pud was burnt and tasted smokey. Shame as we have been a few times recently and every other time the food was great.

The place was very cosy and very busy. However, the staff were well organised and very professional. The food was ok, but not great - burgers and fish overcooked. Kids loved their food though and desserts were good. The waitress was very friendly, but it felt like the place was short staffed. Nice place, but probably needs a bit less on the menu but to the higher standards.

Ordered two dishes at 7.30 to be informed they were the only two left.we had the last king prawn,lobster and chorizo linguine.No lobster or chorizo at all.Prawns normal and not king.Amount of food just enough to feed a small child.Disgusting.

I would except dissapointing that we were overcharged for 3 desserts we didnt have. Although when we realsised this once rechecked the bill at home and rang the restaurant and they said sorry and would reinburse it meant we had to travel and spend patrol money and time wasted in getting money owed.

Average meal made poor by abysmal roast potatoes. They were not ruffled as stated in the menu and except for a few burnt patches did not seem roasted at all. The waitress was good.

The food was not fresh. It was all reheated. We had empty glasses left on our table for the entire evening.
