We love the Anglers Arms for a Sunday Lunch. Usually the best around, although we were disappointed on this occasion. Meat was dry, Yorkshire puddings were more like crisps and the cauliflower cheese was extremely watery. The lady’s we presume are the Bar & Restaurant managers were extremely attentive and helpful, the younger staff however could do with popping a smile on their faces. Hopefully a one off, as we usually love this place!

Welcoming staff & spacious dining room. Decor is dated but warm & tidy. Dinner main course menu was varied with all dietary options. Average prices. Goat's cheese Wellington was really tasty. Our dogs were given doggy treats & we had ample space for dining.

We hadn’t been to the Anglers Arms for quite some years and, once we’d booked, I read some not so favourable reviews. However, the place hasn’t changed at all since our last visit so it was all quite familiar. We were served by a friendly waiting team and got drinks quite quickly. We ordered two lamb dinners and one steak and ale pie. I’d already checked the pie had a top and bottom and it was delicious with plenty of meat in the pie plus mash, veg and gravy. The lamb dinners were placed down as ‘two small lamb’, they didn’t look huge but seemed substantial enough so we didn’t question them. We asked for extra gravy and got it no problem. When our bill came, we realised we’d only been charged for two child lamb dinners, which made us smile. We were wondering why there was only one roastie each! Nevertheless, it was a lovely meal, my only advice to others is to make sure you’ve ordered adult portions if you want a full plate!
