My husband and I visited The Angel bar on Saturday night whilst on holiday in Totnes The food was delicious and the staff could not have been more helpful. We had visited the Angel a couple of days before just for drinks and sat outside in the garden as it was a beautiful evening. I would very much recommend this venue for its excellent food and attentive staff. I would definitely be a regular if I lived in Totnes.

- service was incredibly poor. We were the first table in for dinner and still waited a half hour for a glass of wine and a spritz. The spritz was flat. - one of our mains was forgotten and we had to go up to the bar and ask for it (as we received no check back). Oddly, the table for two next to us also did not receive one of their mains. Feels like a pretty big oversight when there’s only two people at the table. Like, surely the kitchen staff were asking why all these tables for two were only ordering one main, or the service staff asking why the kitchen were only cooking one of them… - the server acknowledged service had a way to go in general but was resigned to this just being how it was and was unable to do anything about it. - Food was pretty decent. Excellent potatoes in a good portion size. Great wasabi mayo. Good pulled lamb. Great halloumi fries (dips, including the chunky angel ketchup, didn’t go). Fritto misto, when finally received, was fair - the calamari and the courgettes were overcooked, and the courgettes, as not dusted, were greasy and burnt. - I’ve previously had a good breakfast here when it first opened. The homemade beans were nice and spicy, and granola and yoghurt was good, if a little small on portion size. - If everything was well cooked and the service improved, the value would be great and I’d be a regular. But I’d struggle to bring friends here or recommend it, as it didn’t feel like this was just an off night.

We had drinks and dinner at the Angel Bar and Kitchen on a Saturday night away in Totnes. The staff were really attentive and friendly and the cocktails and food (small, but generous plates) did not disappoint. What we liked most was the atmosphere, with adults of all ages obviously very comfortable there. I would definitely go again. Booking is recommended - the couple in front of us had to be turned away. Nice place for a date…oh yes, and the raspberry mojitos were rather memorable too!

Been wanting to visit the angel (as highly recommended) for a long time - didn’t disappoint. Really enjoyed food and gimlet..s!! Best of all was the ambience

Really tasty food - the menu changes frequently and there's always lots of choice. The flat breads and dip are always a must as are the crunchy potatoes, which I have had every single time I've visited!
