A traditional country pub with a warm welcome, The Anchor Inn offers a fine selection of cask ales and fresh, home-cooked food. Set in the beautiful village of Nayland, open fires and a cosy atmosphere make the Anchor a wonderful winter bolthole, and the banks of the River Stour provide glorious al fresco dining throughout the summer months.

    Excellent choice for Lunch on a Summers day. Prices mean it’s a treat rather than a regular choice. That said, standard of food was again excellent.

    Lovely meal, had a table by the river & the service (and the weather!) was excellent! Would recommend The Anchor Inn.

    Beautiful pub and location. Friendly and attentive staff. The mussels were very good. Quite pricey at £21 but high quality. Burger was good. The only disappointment was the ‘chunky’ chips at £5 each. Not a big portion and not that chunky. A few years ago they served huge potato wedges which were awesome. Poor value. We ordered x5 of these portions at £25! All in all a worthy visit

    We all had fish and chips,in all honesty,firstly what was supposed to be the large size meal,really wasn’t. The fish was quite tasteless,and chips were obviously cooked with not the best of potatoes,as they were quite bland. None of us sadly,particularly enjoyed the meal. Lovely setting beside the river,just a shame that the food is not up to scratch
