The Anchor in Danbury is the epitome of an English Country Inn, boasting beautiful traditional beams, quaint shining brass and a warm welcoming atmosphere which has made this pub a firm favourite for many years.
We have a lovely large garden with a fun children's play area, great for keeping the kids entertained while you catch up with friends and family over a relaxing drink or with some great food.
- Four legged friends are welcome at the pub, please ask our friendly staff for confirmation on which areas can accommodate you as we do require that dogs are kept out of the main dinning areas.
- Please note reservations with a dog are necessary, and can only be taken over the phone on 01245 222457 stating you have a dog.
- If you have a pushchair/buggy we ask that you call to make reservation, due to limited space.

    We have been here quite a few times but this evening was disappointing. Quality of the Scampi & portion size for the price wasn't very good, over cooked & small portion. After finishing main meal was constantly being rushed in trying to order deserts although restaurant wasn't overly busy.

    Nothing is ever an issue here, service is perfect and on this occasion my prawns were overcooked, not a problem, taken off the bill so once again an enjoyable experience

    The Sea Bass main course was described as being served with a ratatouille. The vegetables on 2 of our dishes were not cooked and very firm to eat, particularly the Courgette. We asked for a replacement for both plates. What was brought up 10-15 mins later was courgettes cooked in olive oil!! It was only later that we realised that ratatouille should have been served with a tomato ragu sauce.

    Excellent lunch for 4 people.Food was promptly served.Very tasty and good sized portions. Staff very efficient and friendly.

    Although I have said the noise level was high, it is probably because we ate at lunch time and there were a couple of very noisy children screeching. Usually we eat in the evening and the noise level is moderate and the ambience lovely. However, that is not the fault of the pub!!
