Being seated at the same bench table as 4 others takes away from the experience
Was not the Anchor of old. Fish was try and lacked flavor. We all the great options in the area it's odd that Anchor seems to have let quality drop.
As always our dining experience was excellent! The food and service was fantastic!
Oysters were phenomenal. Nice cocktail and wine options, but they couldn't make my dinner mate an amaretto sour, since it wasn't on the menu. My other friend didn't love her lobster roll - described it as "a little rubbery." Patio seating on a gorgeous night was great, but it had a faint odor of the sewer. Definitely worth another try, but this time I'll be sitting inside on a Wednesday dollar oyster night.
Lovely patio on a gorgeous night, nice view of Washington Park and Music Hall. Food was mediocre, we had the roasted beet( a sub for the Brussels sprouts of which they were out), and hush puppy appetizer , and both had the fish and chips- meh. May return for a drink on the patio, but will dine elsewhere.
Came for the oyster selection!!! Amazing as always..
This was my second visit, I was disappointed with the amount of food and drink they were out of. The drinks provided were very underwhelming. We were a party of three and were placed at a shared booth table with a second couple, this made for an awkward situation.
We were told by several people that this was a must-try in OTR. We were really disappointed. We waited almost 15 minutes for a table despite our reservation, and they might have been at 50% capacity. The menu is very small (they do have a large variety of oysters) but they were out of two of the main dishes, which were the best two options in my opinion. I ended up with the fish and chips. It was mostly breading so I didn't care for the fish, but the fries were excellent. We will probably not go back as there are way too many other options in that area. I think it was very overrated.
Overall was a good experience tough they were out of many items on the menu due to the Taste of Over The Rhine.
Loved it. Great menu. Plenty of traditional seafood options, and enough new stuff.
Love this place! We came for oyster mania and it did not disappoint everything was amazing! We will be back soon!
I've been to Anchor OTR more times than I can count. It's a lovely place to take friends, especially for Oyster Mania ($1 Delaware Bays). The prices are a bit high for the portions, but the quality is always exceptional. They have a lovely cocktail list, amazing dirty vodka martinis and their outdoor seating is beautiful.
The clam chowder was excellent! The lobster roll was filled with chunks of lobster - will return but definitely will order the fish of the day!
We loved the starters- the crawfish beignets were awesome light and flavorful. The crab cakes had whole lumps of crab and its flavor was not the usual you can get anywhere. The star was the octopus which frankly was large enough to be an entree it self. The salad and potatoes/tomatoes that went with it were so well seasoned!
However the entreees were disappointing. The fish and chips was a rip off- there were 3 small battered fish chunks that could have been better placed in a fried fish taco. We also had the fish fillet in a ciabatta. That was ok but both dishes were a let down given how good the starters were.
The service was great but everything else was average or below. The fish in the fish and chips was dry and tough and the molten lava cake really didn't have anything molten. It was just dense chocolate cake with a dime size slightly gooey center. I booked the table specifying an outdoor table for my mom's birthday. We were taken to an inside table and had to ask to be moved and no one mentioned her birthday. The menu is limited but not special and the prices are high for so-so food. This was a one and done experience.
