    We enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea at The Allis. Seating begins exactly at two so there’s no need to be there early — the staff was friendly and attentive and the pastries, sandwiches and tea were delicious! overall a great experience. Perfect for a relaxing day catching up with friends/family

    Brunch at The Allis is always great. Their sourdough toast is perfect. The seasonal cruffin was beyond description. You have to order it. The waitstaff are so friendly and helpful. Make reservations soon!

    I booked through open table for high tea, and was told that’s only at certain times, but that wasn’t reflected in the app. I was frustrated because I was called, and reminded constantly to confirm my reservation, without there being any language about time frames for high tea.

    We came to the Allis to celebrate my mother in laws bday. The food was delish and service was great but our table was a little small and wobbly. They knew it was her bday and gave her not one but two desserts! We left full and overall happy with the experience for her bday. Would go back but maybe sit somewhere else, I wish the mezzanine was open.

    Super cute atmosphere, they do not do a tea service like everyone else, they wanted to charge for asking for extra things, that is not typical. For a quick, fun and casual experience, this was good enough. It was fine.

    The tea service is cute and a few pastries are true knock outs! (s'mores tart ad strawberry cream puff). We were seated on a low couch instead of at a table which was fine for us because we can get up and down but if you are going with someone older or with mobility issues I highly recommend requesting a table. Sitting in a line on the couch also made it hard to talk to each other since it was hard to hear and you couldn't see friend's faces. Seating was intimate in the wrong ways and prevented conversation. The surprise of chocolate chip cookies brought after the bill with no candle was also an underwhelming celebration for my sister's birthday. We had a much better time at our dinner celebration but tea at the Allis it is still a fun diversion if you need an activity with a lot of sitting but you have good hearing. If you are only in Chicago for a short time I would do tea at Russian Tea Time since it is so close to the Art Institute and a more unique experience. Plus you will get a quiet table.

    This is a beautiful spot right off the main street of West Loop. We waited to be seated, and then waited again fro awhile for a server. And then, waited more for our food. It was very good, but the wait time was a bit long.

    Although we chose not to do Afternoon Tea, the Staff accommodate our wish to change. The berry press was delicious and refreshing. The Moroccan salad with salmon added was great!

    This was a fun experience - but what a cost for such little value! We did have a fun time & were prepared for the price before we went. However the sandwiches were meager, the sweets were tiny & it was pretty much all refined sugars & flours. With the hefty price tag I would anticipate a better curated offering with more delicate, thoughtful food items. Just because you're calling it 'High-tea' doesn't mean the high price tag felt reasonable for the value. I won't be going back.

    Service was terrible. Our first round of drinks finally came half way through lunch. We were never one time asked if we needed something. Chaotic. Had to find someone to bring us silverware. Staff was confused. They were out of many items on the menu. Really horrible.

    The Quiche is worth coming back for, we love it and have had it before. As neighborhood locals, it’s always good to have a few places to pop by and get a nice breakfast but *warning* if you do not book online (via OpenTable) the hostesses will not seat you and state there are no tables available- even when the restaurant is at <25% capacity and OpenTable has tons of openings. We gave feedback to the staff that it’s a little pretentious - and this is not the first time this has happened, and we told the group after us that was also declined a walk-in reservation to use OpenTable. They got a table.. once they used the app.

    Our server was wonderful. The ambiance is awesome. They were missing elements of a classic tea that I tend to like when I go for tea like the clotted cream for the scones. Food was mediocre. But they were accommodating and it was fun!

    Great service, ambiance, and a nice experience. The tea was amazing and fresh. Pastry/food selection for high tea could be less sweet overall though. Sandwich selections were great, I wish there were more sandwich selections! Scones were great, but other ones weee too sweet and too many sweet selection. Overall, a great experience with great service, I think the sweets could be higher quality with more sandwich variety for $55/person price,

    We had an enjoyable evening at The Allis. Comfortable chairs. Noise-level that allowed for conversation. Good wine and good food. If we had one critique it would be that our server basically ignored us for the first 20 minutes we were there. Had to ask him if we could order something. Then they brought food, and he had never given us silverware or napkins. Another person (a manager perhaps) stepped in, brought over the silverware/napkins and a small table to accommodate the three of us as we ordered dinner. His last misstep was getting our order wrong. Fortunately, it was all quickly remedied, but left us feeling a bit underwhelmed by the service. Just did not understand it. He eventually came around, sort of.

    We made a reservation for breakfast. We arrived and ordered some drinks. When our drinks arrived we ordered food. Our server came back and said that they were out of the quiche that I had ordered so I chose something else. She came back very quickly and said “I am sorry, we have no food.” Huh? My husband asked “what does that mean?” She repeated “we have no food”. My husband asked “will there be food later” she then told us they were in the middle of a health inspection and did not know when they would have food. She then just proceeded to the next table and said the same thing to them. I understand that the restaurant has no control over when the health inspector shows up. I have no problem with that, stuff happens. However, I have been in the service industry for over 20 years and you don’t just declare we have no food and then walk away!! I don’t even blame the server, that’s bad management! Maybe in the future something more like “ I am so sorry but the health inspector just showed up and we are not able to serve food while the inspection is taking place. I am so sorry for the inconvenience but your coffee is on us.” Or maybe a phone call ahead of time to let us know before we came down there? Bad service, bad management just a bad experience that could have been avoided with basic customer service skills

    This place is absolutely amazing! The decor is incredibly creative and visually stunning. And the location couldn't be more perfect. The service is excellent, and the staff is attentive, making sure you have a wonderful experience. The only thing that could make this place even better is if the menu matched the excellence of everything else. If we were to compare this place to a person, it would be like a stunningly beautiful lady dressed in haute couture but with a vocabulary that doesn't quite match her elegance. Overall, it's a fantastic place, but it would be truly exceptional if the menu lived up to the rest of the experience.

    It’s one of the lesser expensive afternoon teas in the city but you don’t even get what you pay for. I’m sorry but a bag of Rishi tea and an assortment or pastries does not an afternoon tea make. I had to hunt our server down and ask for literally every single thing. A new plate when the one placed was *covered* in caked on food, water (and every subsequent refill), the check, to come collect the check, on and on. It’s just really subpar - and you’re sitting in the lobby of a hotel. It’s not great. Might be worth just paying extra at another hotel.

    We went for Mother’s Day brunch around 1pm. The server was nice but inattentive. They were out of all their croissants, pastries AND desserts…on MOTHERS day. How sad is that? I would not recommend or return.

    I made a reservation through the Allis website expecting the afternoon tea. But when I got there they said I needed to make a separate booking for the afternoon tea by downloading the app and specifying experiences, and that since they're all booked for the day I will have to reserve again for another day. Nowhere on the website do they specify this is how the reservation needs to be made for the afternoon tea. I went up to get more information about the booking and one of the hostess was extremely rude and kept cutting me off when I was speaking repeatedly saying that they were booked. I understood that they are booked but I wanted clarification on how the reservations were made. The other hostess was polite and explained further about the app and how this has happened before to other customers. Customers make a reservation and come expecting the afternoon tea only to find out they can't. They need to add a description on their website saying that the app needs to be downloaded to reserve the afternoon tea especially if they know this is happening and has happened before!
