Perfect evening, tasty options for everyone to enjoy. Staff was very mindful of dietary restrictions in our group and offered quality substitutions when needed. Couldn't have been happier.
Such a cute place for date night or low-key friend gathering over drinks and healthy yet delicious food
food and ambiance was good - service was not so good. no one was checking up on us and we kept having to look for someone to place our order, pay, water refills etc.
The dinner menu was more limited compared to the Allis's brunch and tea menus which seem to be their expertise. However, I did enjoy my dinner and got to try some new dishes from their small plates selection. As always, the Allis' ambiance did not disappoint, and the service was great.
So my review for this place is based on my most recent visit, but I've been here a total of 4 times. Usually I think the ambiance and food are really great and conducive for a relaxed work environment, but I found the service to be mediocre the last time around. My friends and I came here for lunch and worked a few hours into the early evening ordering a cocktail later into our time. I guess we overstayed our welcome seeing as though a manager was sent to our table to let us know we would need to move so that they could give other customers our table. We decided to leave and asked for a our check with separate bills. We spent about $200 between the four of us, but the waitress said she could not give us separate bills, although someone in our party who left earlier was able to receive one from another waiter. She, instead said to write the card number next to the items, which we happily obliged. She took our cards and the marked-up receipt, but returned to the table to confirm she was charging the right amounts to each card. Lo and Behold! She had somehow generated separate checks at that point. It was strange for the level of service they've had before and I just found the staff to be quite passive aggressive that evening. However, the staff earlier in the day were great and very friendly.
We had a pretty good experience. Food and service were good. I just was a little bit uncomfortable with the live singer, only because it was too loud. So I was needed talk so loud. She was lovely and a good singer, but they could make it a little bit down. Therefore the atmosphere could be more romantic and relaxing. In general was good.
Beautiful space that feels great when you walk in. Upstairs is a surprise that is somehow elegant and cozy. $6 prosecco happy hour special comes in a 1920s punch style glass...perfect for their Tuesday jazz night. Singer did great soulful covers summoning up a sound between Michael Jackson and Erykah Badu. A little difficult to have a conversation at times but great energy midweek. Servers asked about food allergies and made sure to communicate that with their team which I really appreciate. Just wondering when I can make time to go back!
I love the cozy yet vintage elegance vibe of this place. There are so many cute seating areas with vintage books, fine china, chandeliers and overstuffed couches. Great place for photos or for celebrating a special event! My French toast was amazing and I will definitely be back next time I'm in Chicago!!
Bryan the manager and Juan our server were top notch! They helped make our "girl's night out" birthday celebration wonderful! The atmosphere was great and the food was delicious! Thanks to The Allis for a memorable evening!
Super cool place. The food didn't blow me away but the ambience is outstanding and the overall vibe of the place is worth it. I plan on going again at some point.
The Allis was the perfect spot for pre-dinner drinks for my bachelorette party. The host was so kind and the staff was so accommodating for my group of 13. I called a couple of times to confirm the reservation and change the party size and each time I called they were very nice and excited for our event. Our group was seated in a beautiful lounge area on the second floor. We didn't have any food, but the tea and cocktails were lovely. I would highly recommend The Allis for fancy drinks before an event.
Food was great. We made a reservation but got seated behind 2 tables without a rezo. The host really doesnt know what she is doing.
Our initial server (Eduardo) was not great; he immediately went on break after asking our drink orders....luckily Dina swooped in, took care of us and gave us A++ service! Great food, great ambiance!
Definitely a good and quiet date night/lunch spot. The price is reasonable and the service is great
Celebrated a friends bday! The food was great. We enjoyed our lunch.
Food was good,, it was mostly the service that could use work, the waitress came to check on us twice in the Span if 2 hours and by the time we needed to leave we had a whole other waitress changed on us , so the service definitely needed work, upon arrival they also had us wait about 15 mins even though I had reservations for about a week and I even confirmed the reservations a day in advanced but for some reason the table wasn’t ready
Great experience. MAde reservation on Open Table. When we arrived, host greeted us with "you did not specify your reservation is for Tea, we need to set-up a table for tea service". There was not place on the opentable to indicate that t 3:15 p.m. reservation was specifically for tea....FYI.
We had afternoon tea on Sunday. Parking is a challenge but valet is available. Grandmother in attendance thought it was too hip, teen in attendance was delighted. Adult thought it was fine.
Ambience was very good. The service was excellent as well as the food. Those two points won over the Grandmother. We had a great time. Teen gleaned plenty of info and pics for her blog and Insta.
I made a reservation to take my wife when she's back from a business trip.
Lovely space in a great location. I love this spot for casual or fancy brunch. The menu is limited, but that's what I like about it.
Fabulous! I absolutely LOVE this place!! I celebrated with good friends tonight and the place was perfect.
I have been there for afternoon tea and dinner at Soho. We took my 16yo daughter and friends for a birthday dinner at The Allis. The lady who took my call at the hotel was so polite and helpful in letting The Allis we would be running late. The reception upon the arrival was welcoming and they sat us at a couch which was perfect for the girls. The place was lively with an eclectic group of people throughout. Cuisine is staple offerings but well-prepared. Our server was also attentive and welcoming! Thanks for a wonderful evening.
Lovely time. Great food!
Downstairs part not as good an experience as the upstairs. Service was slow/ hardly saw the waiter. Had to go to the front to ask for service.
We had a good experience.
Perfect place to get together. They accommodated my request for seating, very attentive staff, everyone liked the ambiance and food. Will definitely go there again.
Always a great experience. Service isn’t the best but that’s pretty typical in Chicago. The ambiance and product is enough to keep having lunches with clients there!
Went as a a group of 4 for a late brunch. Cool venue and vibes, slow service, good but slightly overpriced food. Don't come just for the avocado toast. There are plenty of cooler restaurants in the Loop to frequent, but this has a nice daytime / casual vibe.
I had been to Allis several times before but this time the experience was not great. We waited 20 minutes before our server finally came to the table. But we did not have water or anyone to greet us while we waited. Our server was sweet but overall I was not impressed.
It will be awhile before I go back again considering other options in the area.
Phenomenal experience!! Definitely will be back.
I see it as a place to grab coffee or tea and type emails. Pricey for just veggie salads and avocado
It's a great place but the service was horrible. It's better for drinks but not dinner.
The ambiance and design of The Allis is fun and unique. However, the food is overpriced for what it is and our service was very poor.
Love the environment. Latte was fantastic, thought the muffin was dry but still had a great time!
Loved this place. Fun, comfortable place. Seafood dishes were flavorful.
I love the Allis! It is one of my favorite spots in the city. We brought my mom and her best friend for her 50th birthday and everything was just perfect & they loved the experience. Will be coming back! Thank you.
Ambiance of the Allis was great. Loved the dishes and the food was excellent.
It lived up to all the hype. Gorgeous place and delicious food. Hosted Galentine’s Day there and everyone has a good time. 10/10 will come back again and again.
We enjoyed the Allis very much! It was comfortable and eclectic and fun. The food was good.
Had a Birthday brunch here and everything was delicious. Highly recommend the avocado toast and latte.
