The Alley at The Betsy
Tucked away in the back of The Betsy, The Alley is a modern trattoria serving Neapolitan-style pizza, homemade pasta, charcuterie, salads, Italian-style cocktails, beer & wine. Inspired by timeless Italian techniques, Chef Laurent Tourondel spent over a year perfecting his signature pizza dough, hand-stretched to order by our artisan pizzaiolos, topped with ingredients that would make Nonna proud, then baked to perfection in our earthstone oven. Retro photos and neon artwork highlight the cozy dining room and open kitchen, while bistro lights illuminate our outdoor tables lining the bustling pathway between Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue. The Alley is also available for small groups and private dining.
Food was amazing. Service was very attentive. 50% off all bottles of wine. Covid19 precautions: face masks, tables very far apart, only disposable plates/glasses/utensils. Cacio e pepe is a must!
We’re so glad you enjoyed. Come back soon!
The service is ok nothing special, and the food wasn’t good
We are very grateful that you took the time to share your disappointment with our performance. Naturally, as one of Miami Beach’s most celebrated restaurant and hotel properties, it pains us a great deal when we fall short. It would be very beneficial to us if we could hear more about your experience. Would you be willing to have a conversation with us? Our apologies again. Love the pizza and the soundtrack - excellent experience
This was our third visit to the Alley. It seems to be hit and miss as to whether we have a good meal or not. This last visit was not so great because my pizza was not cooked very well. It had been cooked on too high a heat but for too short a time. The outside edge was very black and burnt in places but the middle dough was soggy and uncooked. I couldn’t eat it. To be fair, I was not charged and was given the offer to have another, but a pizza in a pizza restaurant should be perfect each time. Disappointing as on our last visit our pizzas were lovely. Perhaps a different chef.
Pizza was black baked . And also very dry . A real Italian will be very dissapointed.
Lively restaurant with some outdoor eating space. The food was outstanding if you like neapolitana style pizza. Light dough, cooked to perfection. As an entree we had olives and parmesan. What a deal for this quality of food! Friendly staff. Clean. Beautiful bathrooms.
Delicious meal!!!
Ask for Alfredo! He will make your experience so much fun, plus he is super knowledgeable about the menu and the wine list ❤️
Love the casual ambiance and the food! Wish they had a happy hour menu!
The greeter unfortunately was clueless. Had to repeat numerous times that we had reservations. We spotted our friends ourselves. However, our waitress did a good job of taking orders and working with us to get special dishes made. There 4 in our party, and all but one thought that their entree was very good.
Unfortunately, The Alley does not serve decaff coffee and that was a disappointment to us.
Waiter loved his job, kept filling our wine glasses - fun night out
Our waiter greeted us with a warm hello and a warning that we would be waiting 40 minutes for any food we ordered. The warning was accurate. The table next to us was served another table’s pizza, which a waiter then served to another table. When our pizza arrived, we cut into it (which involved touching it with our hands) only to discover it wasn’t what we had ordered. Shockingly, when we flagged down a waiter about the mistake, they picked it up and served it to another table.
The food is very good, but the service was not professional as described above.
Pizza ok. Some appetizers tasteful. Very noisy and more of a diner vibe. better pizza and better prices elsewhere.
A great dining experience. Service was friendly and professional. The food was delicious. It is one of the best pizzas I’ve had. The crust is good enough to eat alone. The seafood pasta was very flavorful and had a good amount of seafood. We enjoyed the casual ambience and location
Great service
Nicest wait
Apps of calamari, olives, meatball and aggplant were perfect
Pizza very good ..love brick oven but found pizza itself just a bit soggy with a very well done crust ..would go back
Hostess was not good at managing the crowd . Server was good and was was higher than average .
We have had two terrific meals at the Alley. Joanny was really wonderful—a very thoughtful person!
Tip is added and mentioned on the check but not by the server. Therefore, Americans are double tipping and not alerted by wait staff. Not transparent.
Excellent pizza - we had the Marzano and Mufaletta. The dough and toppings were very tasty. Best we’ve had in a long time.
We shared the zucchini and arugula salad which had a lemon and olive oil dressing- light and tasty.
Highly recommend this spot.
Ate @ the alley 2 times and enjoyed both meals. The zucchini salad was memorable.
This is our regular anniversary date location. The food is truly unbeatable as well as the service and ambiance. We love this hole in the wall - the food is out of this world. Feels like Italy for every bite.
It was amazing, the meatballs pizza olive appetizer!!! I would go again for sure. We all 4 enjoyed it.
Awesome experience and excellent food
Food excellent. Service slow but waiter nice. Chairs very uncomfortable
The Alley did not disappoint, from the calamari to the grilled octopus, the pizzas were beyond fantastic, short rib special was nothing short of excellent. Service was attentive and friendly. Definitely worth a stop!
On vacation we dinned at this Italiano restaurant and really enjoyed. Good service & good food!
Wonderful experience with service and good food. Our waiter was incredible. Loved the octopus, scampi pizza
When we (party of 4) came in we asked the hostess for a table that had a cushion bench and she falsely said that it was reserved for a party of six. The restaurant was half empty. She ended up sitting a party of 3 in the table we wanted.
Our waiter was courteous.
The food was quite poor; pretentious tiny pizzas with barely-there ingredients, overpriced, and with a mediocre taste, at best.
A 20% tip is added automatically.
Overall a restaurant with a mediocre, overpriced & pretentious menu, an impolite hostess, and an overblown bill.
A $2 pizza slice in Washington Ave would have been quite the better choice.
Real good pizzas but some pizzas were burnt black on the edges. The service given by the waiter was ok but he had an attitude and was a real ”know it all”.
Whenever we are in South Beach- we dine at The Alley at the Betsy for two reasons.
1. The food is simply outstanding.
2. The service is excellent
A secret fact- you can call ahead and get the pizza for take out. It tastes as good on the beach as it does at a table. Reservations recommended.
All good until waiter added in a 90.00 appetizer that we did not order so watch your bill! It was very busy suggest reservation to avoid waiting. Food was fabulous!
Food was decent, but not remarkable. Service was slow. Wine list prices reasonable
Our waiter Alfredo was awesome. Food was really good. From apps to pasta to dessert. Decent Italian wines. We had a reservation (obviously) but the hostess was still a pain about seating us since they overbooked. The only annoying part of our dinner.
11 of us went to the Alley for New Year’s Eve and had the most fabulous time with incredible server Giovanni and everyone else at the restaurant treat us like gold thank you thank you thank you!
Fabulous Italian food in a Hidden Gem of an area in South Beach.
Our waitress was excellent. Food amazing. Great service. A gem
Our server, Alfredo was excellent. Great place!
The experience was heavenly! From the service to the food, it was like being welcomed into am Italian home. The manager, staff were all so wonderful. Thank you so much!
A hidden gem in South Beach.
I went to this place with the hope of enjoying a really good pizza as that is the prominent item on the menu. The pizza was not good; soggy. We tried two different selections. Oddly, the starters, meatballs and grilled octopus were delicious. Don’t go for pizza.
