   Dawn was a great waitress. Informative and polite. Food was amazing. It was St Patrick’s Day and our anniversary. It was fun. There were Irish step dancers performing for the crowd.

   My husband and I wanted a nice dinner out for a mid-week/mid-winter date night. I love The Alcove and for sure, we were not disappointed. Dinner was great. Service was lovely. Our conversation was great. Thank you Alcove for ensuring we made a great decision to go out this evening.

   Scallops were small when menu read large... Sauce over powering. Scallops lost in amongst fingerling potatoes... My wife's mash potatoes were cold and watery. Have always had good meals at Alcove and would still recommend and go back. This was a slow Wednesday night, yet should have had great service and food. Service was okay but not over the top.

    The Alcove can always be relied upon to provide excellent food & service. The quality is consistent and it’s always a pleasure to dine there. I consider it the gem of Knox County and Mt Vernon. Also: great cocktails. My favorite is the Gambier Gimlet. Unique, flavorful, not too sweet — and it packs a punch!

    This was our second time at the Alcove. Had a great experience the first time so decided to go back for our anniversary dinner. Second time didn’t disappoint. Love the atmosphere, the food was great and the service was fantastic! Highly recommend.

    Made the trip from Columbus for our reservations at 7:45. Waited for our seats at the bar, which was fairly hectic. We were seated in a timely fashion. Waitress was attentive. Atmosphere was elegant. We ordered their Valentine’s Day special. This ended up being a mistake. I’m assuming they premade the specials and our later reservation (they close at 9) meant we got the left overs. 4 courses, the brie and salad were fine. The main course was shareable. Two small filets, two lamb chops, crab cake, and scallops. The meat was luke warm at best. The mashed potatoes were not warm. My small filet had a vein through it so it was not tender like a filet should. Overall, everything lacked in flavor. Then for dessert we had the giant piece of cake. It was pretty good. We had really hyped this place up to our Columbus friends. It had been hyped up to us from various articles and one recommendation from a friend. This was disappointing based on expectations. Partially blame myself for ordering the special.

    The sea bass was wonderful with a side salad. We also loved the cheesecake with a cup of hot coffee for dessert. Our server gave us excellent recommendations on the food. It made for a lovely date night.

    My favorite is to start with the French Onion Soup, from there to dessert you will not be disappointed. The menu is well diversified. I have dined here numerous times and have been well pleased with the food and service.

    I had one of the best experiences I’ve had in literally years, at the alcove. I had a nice wedge salad and ordered the pork tenderloin as an entree. The pork (basically pork three ways with tenderloin, bacon and pork cheeks) was cooked and seasoned PERFECTLY! Truly one of the best meals I’ve had in years… and that doesn’t mean just the Alcove… it includes anywhere! Fantastic. I highly recommend this entree and my compliments to the kitchen staff!

    The Alcove is a beautiful location with friendly and competent service. However, our server did neglect to bring the bread that she promised to the table. The Brussel Sprout side dish was very good, but the Sirloin was dry and tough and had the texture that suggested that it was pre-cooked and reheated. The filet was better, but still was dry compared to other steaks I have enjoyed

    We had soup and Oysters Rockefeller for appetizers; both were amazing. For dinner I ordered filet and lobster tail with pepper risotto, which was delicious. My husband ordered the New York strip which was over cooked, but they prepared a new one which was cooked perfectly. The service was impeccable. Everyone was warm and friendly. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. It’s like going back in time to an elegant era. We want to go back and take our children and grandchildren for the wonderful food and so they can see how life used to be.

    My husband and I used to love to eat at The Alcove and it was my favorite restaurant but the past couple times we have gone either the food or service or both was lacking. This time my husband's steak was cold and for the price you pay you would think this would never happen! I think we are going to be finding another place for our Valentine's dinner!

    We went for our 23rd Anniversary for the first time based on the online reviews we hoped for a great experience. The service was great, the restaurant was clean, and the menu had plenty of food selections, and the only thing we didn’t like was for the price of our meals at $55.00 each was the 2 dinner rolls they serve you they tasted, and looked like regular brown and serve rolls not what you would expect for five star prices. I would suggest something a little more elegant and tasty. Overall, we had a wonderful experience.

    To caveat this review this is only our second time to this restaurant… our first visit was back in October for our wedding anniversary and it was an EXCELLENT dining experience. It was so good we decided to bring my brother and his wife there as part of our Christmas/holiday celebration. To start off we are So disappointed… drove 45 mins to visit to this restaurant again and it was a horrible experience this time around. First our table wasn’t ready when we arrived- I made these reservations almost two months in advance for them not to have a table ready for a 7:15 dinner is ridiculous. Second our first round of drinks took almost 30 mins to arrive once we finally were seated. Our server seemed like a nice person but she has ZERO business waiting tables at a restaurant like The Alcove. She was slow… messed up multiple parts of our order because she wouldn’t take a deep breath and listen to our order. Two of the appetizers were messed up. My wife’s steak was severely undercooked sent it back twice and the kitchen couldn’t find a way to deliver a well done sirloin steak… the sides were all delivered but were mismatched with main courses( for example I got my wife’s fries on my plate with a medium rare ribeye). And my bone out ribeye was just an horrendous cut of meat… I could only pick thru about half of it due to it being literally raw in some spots and the meat itself was extremely fatty and tough( I did order it medium rare as I usually do but it came out blue in most spots) If our server would have taken the time to make sure our orders are right I’m sure we would have been fine. For the drive we made, wait we had, prices paid, and services rendered I don’t believe we will be coming back and I am embarrassed for the Alcove… unfortunately in this business consistency is key and self advertising being the 74th best restaurant in the country is laughable after the experience we had.

    The inside is BEAUTIFUL! The food was great and our server was very kind. Overall the restaurant was one of the best we have been to in a while. It wasn’t overly loud, you didn’t have people walking past your table over and over, it was a nice experience.

    Wonderful meal! We started with the crab dip appetizer special, delish! Then I had the roasted red pepper, a nice meat free dish full of flavor. My son had the pork tenderloin which was also full of flavor and tender. Love the Alcove!
