Founded in 1911 as a small ice cream and candy shop in the heart of Downtown Mount Vernon, The Alcove offers the finest dining experience in Central Ohio. Our diverse menu includes steak and seafood favorites as well as our signature Prime Rib of Beef available Thursday, Friday & Saturday evenings. Within feet of one-of-a-kind shops, just a block away from The Grand Hotel, across the street from The Woodward Opera House, and a few miles from Kenyon College and the Mount Vernon Nazarene University, our establishment is a great location for gathering with loved ones young, elderly, and in between.     Restaraunt was beautiful. The food was delicious & and the service was great. Rolls were a disappointment; we expected a house made bread instead of frozen.

    Running out of two menu items in the middle of a three-hour special Easter dinner service is unacceptable. Chicken cordon bleu was outstanding. The substitute baked potato was adequate. Shrimp bisque was not warm enough. Server Hannah was attentive, helpful, and apologetic about the unavailable items.

    We had a great dinner! The prime rib was delicious. The service was excellent, Ali took great care of us and made the experience even better. Highly recommend!

    Great hidden gem in the heart of Mt. Vernon. My wife and I stayed at The Grand Hotel, which is a block up the street, and walked to a wonderful anniversary dinner.

    We enjoyed a delicious meal with out of town friends this evening. Service was excellent and the ambience was nice for us older types.

    Wonderful restaurant all around- worth traveling an hour from Columbus. Lovely ambience, great service, delicious food. We've started having all our celebratory meals at The Alcove!
