Food was done of the most delicious I've ever eaten in the over 30 years I've dined out in Chicago. Staff and service was flawless! Not cheap but for food and service like this, worth it!
The food was unbelievable and even on a busy Valentine’s Day the service was beyond attentive, while never overbearing.
Amazing experience from start to finish - While waiting on my guest, I started with a jasmine tea that was very terrific.
Once my guest arrived, we began with the potato and onion soup, and then had the octopus and fried chicken for our mains.
The soup - was absolutely exquisite and filled with flavor. It was good enough to eat 10 bowls of!
The octopus - was one of the most tender I have ever had and the flavors was absolutely phenomenal. It was such a thoughtful dish.
The fried chicken - was delicious! Crispy, moist, juicy and perfectly plated. I was intrigued by the presentation and the satsuma orange squeezed on top gave it such a refreshing vibe.
Incredibly fulfilling, well presented and tasty meal!
I found the service terrific and both helpful and attentive!
I was overcharged and had to bring it to attention.and no apology.
Waiter took my wine away before I was finished
pate was good but too small bread
Would not recommend
The Albert is something of a hidden gem since Chef Larry Feldmeier took over almost 2 years ago now. The food is dramatically better and the wine program is improving. The Chef's Tasting Menu is a bargain and, if Chef Larry is in the kitchen and has the time, he'll bring out some dishes personally. Definitely worth your time if you are the type who enjoys the tasting menu format.
We didn't realize it was restaurant week when we showed up and were hoping to enjoy the french toast and chorizo dish we say on the online menu. They staff was very kind to let us know they had a scaled back menu for restaurant week but those items would be coming back on the menu. We contemplating leaving but we are so glad we didn't. The staff was kind and patient. They gave us time with the menu and were helpful in describing the dishes. We enjoyed the brunch menu that is available from 11 AM to 2 PM on Saturdays. We enjoyed every single dish. The passion fruit parfait was out of this world. There were so many flavors that you were bombarded with in a good way! The potato soup will be the best you have every had. The smoked salmon that came with the soup? So fresh and tasty. The presentation and flavor combinations all came together very nicely. If you haven't been here for brunch, you should get here. You will not be disappointed.
We stayed at the Hotel EMC2 for 4 nights, and we dined at the Albert several times. The food is delicious. T
The menu is very unique. So check it out before you go. The beet salad was very good with great flavors. Also suggest the Tempura mushrooms appetizer. The staff are friendly, the restaurant layout very cool, with a hip vibe. Live singer on Thursday nights. We look forward to our return soon!
For my money, Chicago is serving up the best food in the US right now. There. I said it. Case in point: The Albert. Creative without being in your face about it. Seasonal. High quality execution. GREAT space (I love this room! And I super-dig the hotel).
I came in on a cold, drizzly Friday night. Grabbed a quick reservation and was delighted to find the restaurant not very full (there was a snow storm brewing outside). I felt like I wanted something cozy, rich and edging into the dark side. Perfect. The menu had Venison. I went with it. Paired intuitively with a Mission Fig salad that incorporated roasted beets and Black Walnuts. My table steward was in agreement. A couple of fantastic, Bourbon Manhattans and a gingerbread dessert later, I headed to my room a VERY contented man. (I might have sprung for the chestnut semifreddo too).
I managed one picture only - I was too busy savoring my meal. But trust, I will be back. Highly recommend. The Albert is worth a trip.
Met a friend for a Christmas evening price fixe dinner. It was all we hoped it would be...great waiter, ample amounts of delicious food and wine and a lively atmosphere. I look forward to going back for a ‘regular’ dinner and see what the chef has on offer. I am glad I discovered The Albert!
We went for our Christmas dinner and did not know what to expect. It was outstanding, the food and the cocktails. We would definitely recommend.
This was our third time at the Albert. I remain amazed that it has not gotten more press. The food is excellent and creative, the decor quirky and fun. Service was excellent and knowledgeable.
Everything was perfect. Young vibe and swanky. I asked for hand lotion and the server delivered haha
Food was absolutely scrumptious
My gf and I loved the place. Will be returning.
You really need to tell people it’s a hotel lobby restaurant. It was awful. Will never go back!
Had a great time at the Albert for dinner! The menu is relatively small, but the creations were all very good. We had two starting courses....both were excellent. Grilled octopus was really great, and the fois gras expertly prepared. I had the venison entree and it was outstanding, too. Service was pretty good; the waiter was thoughtful and helpful; the drawback is that it seemed to take a long time for the delivery of our entrees....like, maybe a little more than 30 minutes. The restaurant wasn't all that busy. But, for our table of six, all the meals came out at the right temperature, and were simply fantastic. The only complaint I have is that the drink prices seem a little high. Top shelf single malt scotch is way over priced, and the selection is limited to about 5-6 bottles. Wine is also pricey. But, aside from that, I would love to return to the Albert sometime soon.
Had thanksgiving dinner..fixed menu but so good from A to Z...service was great...servers were very nice and welcoming...their sage infused butter was to die for, perfectly roasted winter vegetables, beautiful salade frisée w roasted beets and figs, the turkey was not dry and gravy was perfect....mashed potatoes was very silky and creamy...strongly recommend it...the decor was very creative
My wife and I dined there for our anniversary. The food is great. The plate is beautiful decorated with a nice food presentation. We found the food really good. Don’t miss their bread offering!
They play nice background music that we enjoyed though didn’t disturb us talking.
The food was creative and delicious!
Nice restaurant within the EMC2 Hotel. Great vibe and good service. Food was very good and they make great cocktails.
The creativity shines through in the food and atmosphere of this restaurant. Enjoyed our multiple visits here during our stay- drinks, dinner, & breakfast!
Food was outstanding. Love the grilled octopus. Enjoyed my dessert, baked Amazon.
Great server. Great feeling to the space!
I had heard great things about this restaurant but was disappointed by my dining experience. The service was OK but it seemed that the wait staff were spending too much time talking with one another. The food was OK but not what I expected. The roasted mushroom starter was surprisingly good but could have used a bit more seasoning. The skirt steak was served medium rare but was a bit under-cooked and
a tad chewy. And, the red wine, was served way above room temperature which seems to be a common problem in Chicago restaurants. Suggestion: Serve Cabernet Sauvignon wines at 62 degrees Fahrenheit and not 76 degrees.
Amazing food and never disappoints. A hidden gem in Chicago.
While I enjoyed the food, drinks, and overall experience at this restaurant, I just did not find that the overall value justified the price. It might be the case that the Albert is charging very high prices because it is located in a hotel and people who go there partly expense their bills to a company.
Will come back here for drinks only.
Great experience! Nice food presentation and flavor combinations. Friendly staff...
The Albert is a neighborhood restaurant for us and we are so glad. I think it’s one of the best kept secrets in Chicago..the Chef Is creative without being over the top. Drinks are interesting. The menu changes seasonally. This trip we loved the watermelon salad, the heirloom tomatoes, the corn pudding and the halibut. We shared everything and had room for a wonderful dessert with brioche and banana ice cream. I hate to brag about this place because I like to be able to get in without making reservations so far in advance but I want them to do well so they are always an option in the neighborhood.
Atmosphere, cocktails, food and service all lovely:) will return!
The tasting menu was great and the service was terrific. It's a rare restaurant located in a hotel that has such a unique and creative menu.
The night started out with a lovely art show and the chef made everyone some awesome horse oeuvres, served with a nice sparkling cava. No charge. Then we enjoyed a terrific meal including the best octopus I’ve ever had. All dishes we ordered were imaginative and delicious. Many served by the chef himself. Our waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and overall great. The decor based on Einstein’s quirkiness was a breath of fresh air. The whole experience was fun and enjoyable.
Celebrated my sister’s birthday at your restaurant last weekend. I flew in from the DC area and she flew in from Colorado. Our meal was everything I hoped it would be and then some. Your wait staff is exceptional and the food: Divine.
This place is off the hook cool. From the venue to the food, we had one of the best meals we've ever eaten. We opted for the chef's tasting menu. The five courses were flavorful, unique, and impressive. Larry, the chef, was personable and humble. Highlights included the fennel ravioli, the pressed lamb, and the desserts. If you have not been here, you need to go. The venue, service, and food is cutting-edge.
An excellent experience
We had a wonderful dining experience at the Albert. The food was incredible. We had a large party, and they sat us in the back in a private area by the kitchen which was fun. Our server made some great recommendations such as the chicken leg and octopus for appetizers. I had the halibut for my main course, and the presentation was wonderful. It was a great dining experience and definitely would recommend.
Great service, menu and food were good but nothing special. Disappointed that the bar didn’t open until 10am and neither did the outside patio (for seating), even though they accepted reservations earlier than that. Menu had drinks on it but when we ordered a mimosa we were told the bar didn’t open until 10am. Peculiar experience I’ve never had at a Chicago restaurant on a Saturday.
Pretty cool atmosphere... contemporary. Server was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They were almost empty though during lunchtime. I hope business picks up for them as I thought it was very good.
We had a spectacular dining experience - the food, knowledge of the preparation, wine pairings were all of the charts!! A real culinary experience for a foodie with plates that were visually stunning and prepared to perfection! A must have stop on a visit or on a night when you want to escape the ordinary!
We sat at a table in the back near the kitchen and had the tasting menu. Everything was absolutely delicious. A true find that completely surpassed all of our expectations.
Pleasant surprise! Exceeded expectation on every level. The food was spectacular; showcasing combination of flavors, ingredients, and presentation. We had the Tasting Menu, which was plentiful and worth every penny. Portions were hardy and very fulfilling.
The service deserves a very special mention. Kelli, our waitress / foodie / sommelier walked us thru every dish and every ingredient. Chef even made a slight menu change to accommodate one of our preferences.
Slight issue with having to wait long time for valet parking in front of the place (maybe worth parking nearby and walking).
Our first time here at the Albert but certainly not our last and we highly recommend.
