The Ahwahnee Hotel
Absolutely beautiful hotel. The dining room is spectacular. Food service was first class. food quality was pretty good, not great in keeping with the hotel
We were worried after being told by a cold maitre'd that we had arrived 15 minutes too early. We returned exactly 15 minutes later and we were seated by a much friendlier host. I managed to spill my entire glass of water on the table and the waiter was there instantly with towels. He reset the table so smoothly and graciously that it became a non-event. The food was superb, the surroundings are stunning and we could imagine Queen Elizabeth at the main table (she has dined there). It's pricey, but it's also so unique the price is justified. Great experience once we got past the maitre'd.
Loved walking through and admiring the history of the hotel. Our server Amy was great. Food was good, a little pricey but the atmosphere made up for it.
Awesome Restaurant!! Loved the experience!! We really enjoyed the atmosphere!
It's always fun to dine at the Ahwahnee. We always order the prime rib dinner. The quality is far lower than it used to be.
Would not give out WI-FI to guests and had a lot of rules however the dinner and staff were great!
Our food took quite awhile to come out. We were told you were short on staff. We finally asked the guy who seated us to check on our order, and right then our food arrived. Most of the tables around us had got their food, also a large table that came in after us.
Marty was our waiter. He was fantastic. Very professional, yet personable. We enjoyed our experience in the Ahwahnee dining room very much. It will be a lasting memory. Food was delicious, service impeccable. My husband and I stayed at the Yosemite Valley Lodge, as the room rate at the Ahwahnee was far above MY rate for a hotel. The experience of dinner in the dining room did not disappoint however. Thank you for that.
Breakfast overpriced, didn't like wine list. Food was great, rooms were outdated and way too much for what you get.
That building is worth the lunch! Service and everything was perfect
This was a lovely stop during our Yosemite trip which was Mostly hiking, pizza, sandwiches. The hotel is beautiful and our lunch was fresh and high quality. The staff were all welcoming and polite to us. So glad we made a special stop here.
Ambiance and food was good but we were very disappointed by the supercilious attitude of the staff particularly the maitre d’. Spoilt the whole experience sadly.
Perhaps the most spectacular dining room in America.
Being our 40th wed Anniversary year we finally decided to visit Yosemite for the first time. The park is majestic and a must see for all.
Restaurant experience was nothing spectacular.
The buffet is amazing. The servers were a little distracted 1/2 way through our meal which made the experience not as good.
I order a medium New York and it was charred outside and dry inside, my housband ordered a rib eye well done and it was bloody we didn’t returned them because we’re so tired and starving apart from that it was expensive
Walking into the dining room at the Ahwahnee Hotel is a magical experience! The dining room is grand, the service is impeccable and the food is delicious! While the dinner menu may seem a bit pricey, it's a meal you'll truly enjoy.
Nancy and Ananda did a great job with service! Always a treat.
The food and service were excellent and the view from inside and out was gorgeous.
Lovely, historic venue but the food was definitely nothing special. Not one person at our table commented on the food being good, except for dessert. There's no reason a restaurant with such a venerable history can't have good food to go along with the atmosphere. It's not that hard to make a good cob salad and a decent reuben.
This hotel is a favorite of ours. We live fairly close so a visit is easy to do. We always include time to visit the outdoors when we visit.
It’s an unforgettable place visit’
Amazing service, beautiful music, and an incredible ballroom to take in while eating dinner!
Sooo... here goes... It's the most beautiful hotel in the most beautiful national park in California. You have to like it! But remember it is run by the National Park Service. The Wifi is terrible (don't bother to try to send photos until you get home and don't bother trying to stream a movie at night), the food is expensive but only ok (basic menu but in the most extravagant dining room), and service is ok. If the Park Service was only allowed to subcontract the restaurant out to true restauranteurs, this place would merit 5+ stars. I would say the same for the hotel. But you have to enjoy the beauty of this hotel and its location. They have a fully-booked, captive tourist clientele. And if you get frustrated with the Wifi and the mediocre food and staff, just remember that it is run by the National Park Service. But also remember, after all, you are surrounded on all sides by the most extraordinary 3000 foot high granite cliffs. So be happy!
The hotel dining room is a must-do-once-in-a-lifetime because it is a VERY cool space and extremely iconic. However, the food is NOT worth the value and one of my party’s entrees came out cold. The desserts were not up to par either based on price.
Amazing ambiance, fantastic food, and superb service! We loved our breakfast at The Ahwahnee!
We had a 7 pm reservation. Emira the hostess changed it to 8 pm without notice. We were seated about 7 :20, but did not get an appetizer till 8:10. Waitress Sandy was not helpful, but did comp the food.
It has been a lifelong dream of mine to have a meal at The Ahwahnee and it did not disappoint! We started with scallops with parsnip purée. The scallops melted in my mouth like butter. Following the salad I had the Salmon with corn chowder. They were a perfect match! The salty, savory salmon was a great counterpoint to the sweet corn. Blackberry pie was the perfect end to this delicious meal.
We had lunch here for our family of eight after we got married in the valley. The ambiance is of course amazing but we were a bit disappointed with the service. Our waitress didn't seem like she liked her job and didn't check in on us. We had to ask other waiters and waitresses for water, silverware, napkins, etc. The food is pretty mediocre and expensive but that's what you get for dinning at a national park. We just wish the service was a bit better, especially since this was a special occasion and we had made reservations months in advance.
OUTSTANDING setting, BEAUTIFUL decor, BREATHTAKING views, DELICIOUS food!
A MUST! Especially for lunch!
And take a longggg walk out back afterwards!
So very serene!
This place was amazing and everyone should stop by here if you are in Yosemite National Park. The hotel itself is historic and gorgeous, the food was fantastic and the service was exceptional! The only issue we had was at the bar with a bartender named Steven. He was very rude and condescending, which was a stark contrast to the wonderful service we received everywhere else within Yosemite.
Prices are high, but you are paying for the location. We had lamb chops and prime rib, both of which were in the mid-$40 range, but both were very good and the servings were quite large (we finished them for breakfast the next day. The polenta with cheese that accompanied the lamb was quite bland, no cheese evident, but vegetables were done well and saucing was savory for both dishes. Kale salad starter also massive. Service was good, and the surroundings (and the piano music) were lovely.
Five of us had lunch together. We all had impeccable service. All wait staff was very pleasant and took their time with each of our orders. They repeatedly came by to check on our satisfaction with everything. The food was fabulous and of course the beauty of the Ahwahnee dining room is beyond compare.
Fabulous. Very accommodating staff. We had a wonderful time.
Amazing food and service. Beautiful table for two for our anniversary and a special complementary dessert for our special occasion.
My birthday dinner was excellent! I had the prime rib and it cut like butter! Pasta was also delicious !
We had a lovely family dinner in this iconic dining room. And as a bonus, a pianist played during the meal.
The dining room is lovely...food adequate. Shrimp Cobb salad had canned tiny shrimp! Not what I expected at all.
The ambiance, service and food was excellent.
