The Ahwahnee Hotel
The Hotel was a neat old lodge style upscale National Park lodging. We enjoyed our quick, last minute visit. The park is so beautiful this time of year. Low crowd size, the leaves are turning and it was perfect hiking weather. Lodge accommodations were clean, up to date with a rustic charm. It is pretty expensive for the rather basic, although well maintained, accommodations. As far as dinner goes. We probably would have enjoyed the Pub food better for the price.
Family from Oregon first time visiting and just had the best experience.
Jerry and Guierrmo (sp) were superb staff. Salmon was superb and the lamb osso bucco was very flavorful.
Anniversary and 50th birthday
WONDERFUL! GREAT FOOD AND SERVICE WITH VEGAN OPTIONS
Service was great however would not recommend. Do not eat here! Expensive, mediocre and horrible food. Seems like they stopped trying since they get business from all the tourists. One of the worse and expensive meals we’ve had. Super disappointed we wasted our time and money!
Beautiful, old hotel/lodge in Yosemite National Park...Food was excellent, as was the service by the entire staff! Great background piano music and wonderful views, inside and out...
The ambiance and staff were amazing. The food however was fair. Very overpriced. The Osso Buco was overdone and was underseasoned . The chicken was good. The Duck Lumpia was very good. The onion soup was good. The coconut gelato was very sweet and the coconut flavor was very minimal.
From the time we sat down by our Hostess Feather, the customer service was amazing! Our waitress Susie, was lovely and very sweet. She had wonderful recommendations for wine and entrees. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and were seated at a window table overlooking the meadow at sunset. You can only imagine how beautiful it was. Thank you to the Ahwahnee Hotel staff for making our special day so memorable- Mr. & Mars. Michael Riley
We love the Ahwahnee Hotel, but it was our anniversary and we wanted a window seat where it was sunny. It was known it was our anniversary, but we were put in a dark corner. Finally we did get a window seat, but not the one we wanted.
as a used guest now , i already have many diners ansd breakfast in your place since 1993 i have to say it s still fabulous to have a diner in Ahwahnee
will be back next year again
Anniversary dinner on vacation
No dressing on salad. Food and drink cost is crazy high. Loved the piano!
What a gem! If you're spending any time in Yosemite, you have to dine here
I would give a 0 star if I can. The food was like meh, a medium well steak was 100% cooked like a rock, had to get them to cook another one. The waitress told us a medium well suppose to be like that. Service was really poor. We ordered a crab cake. It was on our bill but we never got the dish, had to get the waitress to removed.
You must have reservations to eat dinner, but the food and location were awesome.
Great evening. Piano background music, great food, very nice
Wonderful atmosphere! Pricey but for special occasions cannot be beat.
You must make a reservation well ahead of your stay in Yosemite Valley because it is a popular spot for dinner. It is the only fine dining available. If you eat early you will enjoy the view from the windows.
i assume you were asking about the hotel as well as Dining. Hotel was nice but very expensive. The valets were helpful and charged my electric car -thanks!- but why do you only have 2 charging stations!! Would suggest the bellmen tell us about the location of ice when meet at room and front desk let us know that there is a warm pool on the property and of any other amenities like dining options and need for reservations. Restaurants should have more vegetarian and vegan options. Long lines for the bar disrupt the dining experience in the bar.
Service was terrible. For a place that has a dress code and high menu prices they should know how to serve a table.
The Hotel is a very grand building in a wonderful location in the valley. The dining room is beautifully rustic, with spectacular views from the river rock surrounded floor to ceiling windows. The wait staff was excellent, our server, David was fantastic, friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu items, the history of Hotel and the park. The food was delicious and nicely presented. The desert we ordered, a white chocolate maple cheesecake with candied bacon and caramel sauce was probably the best desert we ever had.
Lovely service and very good food. Some buffet items were great like risotto chicken and Mac cheese and bacon. Some less exciting- eggs Benedict. But atmosphere and service were top notch
Amazing service! Outstanding food!! We are going to return next year to celebrate our anniversary!!
Thank you so much to our wait staff, the chef, pianist and all the staff for a wonderful birthday experience! Could not have asked for more!!
The finest prime rib, the sauce made it. First time having Lompia at a fine dining place. Service was superb and very personable. Always attended to. The soaring dining room is understatedly unique and anyone can afford the breakfast and lunch served there too. Wine list is very good and matches the food perfectly.
Beautiful setting, amazing food, pretty expensive but well worth it.
Everything and more...a wonderful evening with friends. Two and a half hours enjoying the dinner.
Food so delicious, professional service with class, lovely piano music and at one of the most beautiful National Park restaurants.
We arrived at 2:12 pm for a 2:15 reservation and Mya, the hostess on duty, abruptly told us to come back at 2:15 because they had tables to bus. The dining room at that time was less than 10% occupied.
The dining room is absolutely spectacular and a must see, but the service from our first interaction with the hostess to the service we received over lunch was terrible. Based on our experience, this restaurant is surviving on history and tradition versus customer experience. Extremely poor value for money.
Like the curate’s egg, it was good in parts! Firstly, although we were residents at the hotel and had made the booking months ago, when we arrived for our 8 pm table it wasn’t ready until 8.25 pm. The soup of the day was very disappointing- just a splodge of lukewarm porridge. No swirl of cream, no sprinkle of herbs. Really poor presentation. The steak was tender and juicy, and my falafel meal well balanced. Homemade gelato was delicious. The service was charming if a little slow, but this was a special occasion so we were glad not to be rushed. The dining room Itself is spectacular but the table setting very disappointing for what should be an upmarket experience.
Very good food and excellent service in the main dining room. It's a great room, with views of forest and mountains. The customers skew geriatric but brightened by the occasional trophy wife.
This was the third time my husband and I had dinner here and we were just as impressed as the first time. Wonderful staff, amazing food and the ambiance was outstanding. Even though it’s challenging to bring dress up clothes when you are camping at Yosemite it is so worth the experience at the Awahnee.
Everyone on the hotel staff was so attentive and courteous to us. Because it was our 50th anniversary (and our second return to Yosemite--the first return being for our 25th Anniversary) since our honeymoon there 50 years ago, we were given a secluded, intimate table for two by the large window at the end of the dinning room. The wait staff (Adrian and Jo), the maitre d', and the manager were all wonderfully attentive, but not at all intrusive to our quiet, intimate setting. Everyone on the staff seemed truly delighted that we had chosen the Ahwahnee for our celebration and that they were getting to be a part of it. The food was truly delightful and the experience could not have been nicer. It will always be one of our most cherished memories. Our gratitude to all for making it so!
The setting is magnificent and the good is excellent,
The place felt over rated to us. They try to make it as a fancy dinner but the food is just normal it does not justify the price or the demand for a dress code. The place is beautifull but I would go for lunch or breakfast and see the whole hotel in day light. Dinner just doesnt justify.
We always eat at the Ahwahnee when we are visiting Yosemite. The food is a bit overpriced, as expected, because we're paying for the ambience and the majesty of this old hotel. Two of our members thought their food wasn't as well prepared as on previous visits, and the wines we wanted were not available because deliveries could not be made due to Hwy 140 being closed by the fire. Otherwise, we enjoyed ourselves.
We had dinner Sunday night (it was our 50th wedding anniversary) and the hotel recognized the occasion, unfortunately my wife ordered salmon but was brought a white fish steak when we questioned the switch she was told that the waitress made a mistake and was told that the kitchen was having trouble with salmon.....my wife tried the fish it was dry and inedible......by the time the waitress got back it was to late to reorder so we signed the bill and left......very disappointed.
If you’re at Yosemite, you definitely need to stop at the Ahwahnee hotel. As for brunch, this restaurant is overpriced as service is very lax and food is totally mediocre. Go for a drink or dinner instead! But FYI that bar food is way overpriced as well. I love a good luxurious moment, and this hotel has its spots but brunch and bar food very whatever.
We went here for our 35th wedding anniversary. We were seated by the window which was beautiful but the service and food were disappointing. They never mentioned our anniversary so obviously no one pays attention to the booking notes in the reservation. We ordered off the menu instead of having the buffet brunch. The bacon was greasy and the French toast was mushy. Asked for hot sauce which they never brought and had to ask twice for a refill on an iced tea.
We had really precious time!! It will be a unforgettable memory.
