About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Great for scenic views
  • Good for special occasions
The Ahwahnee Dining Room is now serving both a la carte and breakfast buffet from 7am-10am. Join us every Sunday for our Grand Brunch Buffet from 7am to 2pm, different rates apply. Lunch is served from 11:30am-2pm. Enjoy our Dinner Buffet from 5pm to 9pm featuring a carving station, dinner favorites and much more. If you experience difficulty making a reservation here, please call us directly at (209) 372-1490.

The Ahwahnee is near completion of a seismic retrofit renovation project in partnership with the National Park Service to preserve this iconic hotel. During the last phase of the project, the impacted areas will be isolated to the West Terrace and areas near the Dining Room. This work will result in some obstructed views, and we expect construction noise between 10AM–4PM, Monday–Friday. We have done our best to mitigate any negative guest experiences, though we recognize it may cause inconveniences and conditions. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

The Ahwahnee Hotel offers a "beautiful historic" dining experience with "wonderful service" and "delicious food" amid the stunning Yosemite landscape. The grand dining room's ambiance is enhanced by live piano music, though some diners find the buffet "overpriced" and "limited". Overall we felt it a bit pricey for the quality of the food. True there’s a premium for being in Yosemite, but to me the prime rib was the best Buffett item. It was above average. The tri-tip was chewy and rare. The zucchini way over steamed and too mushy , the salmon was over cooked and dry. The dessert small and nothing special. The service & ambience was very nice. Besides dinner we also had the breakfast Buffett, which was again was low quality food. Seemed like it was all made days before and just reheated. We’ll eat elsewhere for the remainder of our stay.

I understand the kitchen has been under construction for quite a while. But the buffet food was the worst meal I’ve ever had in my entire life. There’s absolutely no excuse for that. And what they charged for that horrible meal was unbelievable.

We went to the restaurant. There was no dress code, and some people were wearing beach sandals and shorts. There were children running around in the restaurant. They only served buffet-style meals, so we didn't get to enjoy a nice meal.

Way too expensive for what we got. A buffet with average food should not cost more than $60 per person

63 dollars per people for cold food. in their website they say you NEED to dress well yet they can’t even reinforce it with their own staff. They make u wait for EVERYTHING to try to look expensive. only good thing was the guy playing the piano.

Beautiful - Historical - Attentive The Ahwahnee is an amazing dining experience, but you pay for it. The food and service was spectacular, however if you are into views of nature, architecture and history, that will blow you away. I ate breakfast there, cheapest meal of the day plus no dress code requirement, I dressed in my best shirt and shorts I had packed, I was dressed similar to most others. (Dress code for dinner) We had to choose the buffet. There was a good amount of selection on the buffet, but I've typically seen more selection, still what they did have was everything you would want and top shelf. If I get the chance to go to Yosemite again, I am going back to the Ahwahnee, maybe I'll bring clothes for the evening and plenty of cash.

Overall poor food quality. $60 for buffet food and it’s the quality of a low in Vegas buffet

The Ahwahnee is a special place the staff does an outstanding job despite the challenges with construction and location in a national park.

Why have a dress code if its not enforced or questioned. We followed the recommendation from the restaurant website and dressed appropriately. They don't even question the people that are not even close to their own guidelines. Come in shorts bathing suit flip flops where any thing you want. They don't care. If your looking for an upscale experience this isn't the place. It's unfortunate as the building and venue deserve a better clientele.
