It’s an unbelievable giant room with 30ft timber arched ceilings at the historic beautiful 1920’s Ahwahnee Hotel in a corner of the amazing Yosemite valley. We had a Sunday morning breakfast buffet… And buffets are always hard to get exactly right because you’re putting out a lot of food that Hass to stay warm, etc but they did a good job and it was tasty and filling. Meanwhile you’re just in a beautiful location which makes you happy, the service is excellent. They have their whole system down there on top of it and bring you whatever you need as soon as you need it clear place as soon as you’re finished so you can go get more from the buffet. You have to see this room so it’s a must stop and I suppose there’s some ways that you could make the Buffay even more varied and more interesting but anyway, I think I’m nitpicking.

Don’t eat Ahwahnee Hotel Restaurant. Better food is served at Golden Coral. OVER PRICED for a less than desirable Buffett.. Very disappointed

Buffet was tightly packed area. It would run out of items that would take a while to replace. Quality level was average, we thought it was underwhelming.

Beautiful room and setting. Rustic and elegant - in harmony with the outside. The piano player was a gift. Our waitperson was attentive and helpful. We found the food to be very good and a few things were fabulous. Excellent variety of meat, seafood, and vegetarian options. The buffet style did not bother us. Actually appreciated sampling, taking the exact amount we wanted and then the freedom of returning for more. Make reservations : )

Breakfast is a great deal. The fresh squeezed OJ, Pete's coffee, smoked salmon on small bagels, and the eggs Benedict were all excellent. Other food selections were usually quite good - bacon, sausages, eggs, etc Loved the freedom to return to the buffet for seconds (and thirds). Great way to start the day. Def don't need much lunch after this buffet breakfast. and the dining room is beyond lovely.

We love the Ahwahnee, but distressed to wake each morn to sound of construction at 7am! Our view was amazing, half Dome and North Dome in our large E. Window. The place will be a gem again when construction is finished. Thanks to all the warm and friendly staff who appreciate that they live in the most beautiful spot in the world!!

The dining room itself is beautiful and the service, which was just providing drinks and the bill, was good. It was a buffet, with lukewarm to cold food. If you are looking for a tasty or hot meal, forget it, it's not happening right now. $32 a person for cold scrambled eggs, mediocre potatoes and breakfast meats is what you are getting.

The Ahwahnee Hotel is amazingly beautiful - a cool old school experience. While the dining right now is only buffet the dining room is stunning and the buffet was lovely. We moved to a different hotel and were so disappointed in the experience by comparison, we’re moving back to the Ahwahnee for our last night.

The dining room has been renovated beautifully. The staff and servers were friendly and knowledgable. The poor kitchen is cooking in a temporary set up so the food was fine but not at the level of the space it was served. It will be better I am sure when the remodel is complete.

The dinner buffet was ok, nothing more. Some things were dry and overcooked, some were missing (like the potatoes), The drinks were very good (Manhattan) and the servers were great. I think the food should be upgraded to the level of this amazing dining room. I think you should be allowed to order off the menu, instead of a lukewarm buffet. IMHO.

The buffet dinner was hit or miss. I felt like I was on a cruise ship both the quality of the food and the atmosphere. It was a big disappointment. I know they are under construction and have to do the buffet, but after dinner for two including drinks, tax, and tip, it was not worth $200.

The Hotel is in constant renovation, which really detracts from the over all experience. The food was okay, but over priced. The service was very good, the dining room is beautiful. Mandatory valet parking was a pain, with no clear direction on cost, who or how to pay. Having spent over 10 times attending events like Chef’s holidays, special occasion celebrations, that were incredible experiences, the last two visits have been quite disappointing.

The buffet was good but the food was not abundant. It ran out of food every 10 minutes and then you needed to wait another 10 minutes for them to refill the buffet line. I think the the kitchen. Is very limited so it was a very long buffet dinner. The ambiance was nice and the view was spectacular. The food was just average .

Way past its prime, but still charging top dollar for what is glorified school cafeteria fare. The only thing that is nice is the room itself. Food was mediocre at best. Who the hell pre-slices prime rib and puts it in a steam tray? Unbelievable.

So pretentious! Dining room was empty, but the hostess purposely kept us waiting for 20 minutes when we were on time for an 8 pm reservation. Was so annoyed because it was overpriced buffet only and they wouldn't let us in, so we had just an hour to eat. Food tray were picked over. Tri tip was the only good thing, everything else was entirely mediocre. Skip dinner here until kitchen is fixed. Waste of money.

We had breakfast and dinner at the Ahwahnee. Beautiful place and very nice Wait Staff. Breakfast choices were pretty good, and tasted fine. Dinner was another matter; really, very little that was good. The Prime Rib was especially bad. Food in the hotel bar was much better. They also do not enforce their own dress code. We went out of our way to follow it but very few people did. Shorts, sweat pants, flip-flops, jeans, anything goes. Very disappointing since it is such a nice place and we deserve better. My advice, stick with the bar for dinner, and only do breakfast in the main dinning room.

One needs to keep their expectations in check, especially if you are staying at the Ahwahnee Hotel. The food was decent, but nothing special. Specifically the pork tenderloin was dry and chewy while the prime rib was tender and moist. The salmon was dry and overcooked. While the buffet cost was not excessive, it certainly was not what we expected from a hotel with this pedigree.

Outstanding dining room. One of the most beautiful in the world. Outstanding server, while being horribly understaffed Food was abysmal. Buffet. Salmon was beyond dry, asparagus cooked to death. Dessert bar was like a buffet at Bonanza Steak House, wholly uninspired. It was like eating at a Howard Johnson’s or Holiday Inn for a bad wedding reception. Used to be amazing. Aramark has turned this into stadium food. FYI despite what they write, there is NO dress code. About half were dressed per the appropriate dress code. The remainder were apparently acceptable dressed as if going to the Shell station to grab a snack. Seriously disappointing how Aramark has run this into the ground versus the Delaware North concession days. You’re kind of stuck eating here if you stay here, and they know it. Such a shame for such an amazing venue.

Open Table should be more current with their information. We dressed formally and it turned out to be casual and a buffet. Something going on with the kitchen. So we looked silly way over dressed while everyone else looked like they just came in from a good hike. Food was disappointing. We expected a regular menu like before. Service was impeccable as always. We won't go back until it returns to its previous all around excellence. I would not recommend the Ahwahnee dining room to anyone else until further notice. Be sure to call to see if it has before going.

The hotel kitchen is undergoing restoration so all meals while we were there were buffet style. For the dinner, although they require formal dress code apparently some people can’t read and came in sneakers and jeans. The staff was not very prompt in refilling the buffet trays, and even after I let them know the salad, Mac n cheese, and chicken fingers trays were empty - 15 minutes later they were still empty. The lettuce in the Cesar salad was not crispy and seemed like the dressing had been left on for a while. We had to wait for the staff to come back to the cutting station to serve us the meat dish. They also seemed to be short staffed because we had to wait for about 10 minutes after sitting down before someone even came over to take our drink order. Although the food was good, I expected more based on the cost of the food and the ambience.

We were here celebrating our anniversary for breakfast / brunch. Chef needs to learn how to make scrambled eggs for a buffet in quantities (a bit of olive or palm oil or other will keep them moist), they were caked together, & dried out. The chorizo gravy was a huge highlight—definitely keep that on the breakfast buffet menu! Delicious. The rest of the offerings were standard ranch fare, fine, but nothing sublime (aside from the Chorizo gravy)… Service was quite attentive and very friendly—they got us a lovely table with view for our special occasion. Accommodated our dietary limits with ease and friendliness too. I have a note for management: when someone has reservations and comes to dine & drop $100 for a breakfast for two, you shouldn’t have the front desk staff tell restaurant guests that “WiFi is only for guests staying.” I’m not a guest? Does my using your WiFi for 20-40 min really tax the system that much? Felt very petty, and not welcoming. If I ever had a thought to come stay instead of just dine, that inclination is no longer. I won’t come back to the Ahwahnee, unfortunately.
