The Ahwahnee Dining Room conveys a feeling of elegance and refinement while maintaining a comfortable, natural atmosphere. The logs of stripped and polished sugar pine, which support the 34-foot-high beamed ceilings, reinforce the rustic ambiance that is reflective of The Ahwahnee’s mountain surroundings.

Beautiful setting. We were seated as we arrived. Adrian take great customer service. Melodic live piano music played. Only thing was that they were out of the peach cobbler which I was looking forward to and the fish did not come with rice and the little potatoes were over cooked. If you go -order the mashed potatoes instead.

We went for the buffet dinner on Sunday nights. Food was average at best. We were seated by 8pm but as the buffet stops at 8:30 the food stopped being replenished very quickly and we didn’t get to try many of the dishes. The food we had was good, but felt a little short changed by the fact that we didn’t get to try many of the dishes. The hotel itself is great in a very idyllic setting. Would want to return for an a-la-crate service dinner but the buffet is probably a never again for me.

What a fabulous way to celebrate a special occasion with our family. The dining room is gorgeous and the buffet dinner was excellent. Appreciated the gluten-free options. Had to ask if they had GF bread and was pleased that they did. Especially loved the prime rib and polenta. Everyone loved dessert with our favorite being the little chocolate cups and macaroons. And how lovely that they brought us a special anniversary treat. Worth coming across the country for.

The Sunday Brunch at the Ahwahnee is arguably one of the best brunch buffets I have ever had. You are not overwhelmed with too many options and everything that is prepared is fresh and incredibly delicious. The service is top notch and you will probably need someone to place you in a wheelbarrow after you are done. My eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach! Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a brunch buffet (or any of their buffets) at the Ahwahnee while staying at the Yosemite value. It is so worth it!

We ate here two nights. This review is based on the second night. We loved the atmosphere and all of the choices available at dinner. However there was a VIP dining at the same time and our wait staff was redirected to help them and made our experience not as great as the first night. Also the fish options were overcooked and dry. Many options for vegans and vegeterians.

Food, service and ambiance were all outstanding. However, we paid $56 per person for Sunday brunch, which is an additional $24 per person more than the typical brunch. However, we had an 8:00 am reservation, and none of the Sunday brunch food - prime rib, shrimp cocktail, etc, was available before 10:00 am. That means that we paid more than $100 ($24 per person x 5) for Sunday brunch which, for us, was not.

The Ahwanhee is, in a word, magical. The property is worth a visit even if not staying there. Being a return diner, the dining hall (there is no other way to describe it) is majestic. The service is attentive and engaging. The dining experience lacks only because the dinner service still operates out of a buffet line with chafing dishes drying out the food; this as a result of the restaurant being understaffed due to lack of hires. I await the day when a la carte service returns.

Great food but way too expensive for being a buffet. If I am going to pay that price, I want to be served. Making the buffet an “all you can eat” did not compensate for the price since our family eats normal serving sizes and we don’t like to gorge ourselves.

Celebrated our wedding anniversary. I request a window seat and got one! The ambiance and service was great. Loved the piano playing. The only complaint was the food. It’s hard to keep buffet food fresh. But thanks to our wait staff for making the occasion memorable. The dining hall at the Ahwhanee is awesome for special occasions.

The restaurant space is beautiful and what can you say about Yosemite? The valley was the high point of the trip, everything about the Ahwahnee was the low point. A stop by the bar for a drink before dinner was annoying instead of relaxing as the service was poor and disorganized. Then off to restaurant where we asked for a table with a view and the hostess promptly seated us at an awkward table with a partial window view - when staring across other guests. I asked about moving and the server said that would’ve ok but then promptly disappeared so I gave up. The real kicker was when we discovered it was a buffet - had I known that, I never would’ve booked a table here. And a $60 buffet at that, featuring leathery chicken breast, dried up fish, wilted salad, and chicken tenders and Mac and cheese. There was prime rib, but that was mediocre at best. The server mentioned something about the restaurant switching to a buffet because of Covid - but that’s the last thing health officials suggested during Covid - buffets across the country closed during Covid to reduce contact. Our reservation was at 8:30 and we thought about leaving but with few other options in the valley at that hour we decided to tough it out (like the chicken and fish). Before we filled our plates, they were breaking down the buffet and breaking down table settings around us - always a welcoming activity when dining. What I expected to be a relaxing and delightful dinner at what was promoted as the nicest facility in Yosemite ended up being an elementary school lunchroom experience with. I think Aramark should stick to stocking cafeterias with their mediocre meals and the park service should find another vendor who can actually provide quality food and service that would match the setting at the Ahwahnee. Maybe it’s time for the government to find another contractor altogether. Will definitely return to Yosemite, but will not be going back to the Ahwahnee as long as it is under their management.

It’s tough to maintain food quality in heaters on a buffet. The choices were good, but some things were overcooked. It would be better to go back to a la cart dining if you want to retain the high end concept.

Great ambiance however we could not choose a la carte which was not communicated in advance. Buffet food was of very very poor quality: dry, not fresh, not tasty at all. Only dessert was delicious. Definitely not worth the $ 300,- for four people! Very overated.

Very traditional atmosphere. The room was somewhat outdated, temperature control not very effective. Told that there were dress codes for the dining. Noticed that not everyone was appropriately dressed - shorts, t-shirts for men, poorly dressed women. Food was excellent. Pricey and not recommended for everyone.

The buffet is terrible food. You need to go back to regular menu service with an appropriate chef. My tradition has ended eating here to start every park visit with the food being inedible. Please go back you had such a good thing before!
