A great meal in an outstanding location. Great service and good food. A lot of people do not like the buffet style that the Dining Room has moved to, but for us it was nice because we could try out a little bit of everything. The one complaint is the value. It’s probably the most expensive dinner you can have in Yosemite Valley (although the Mountain Room might give it some competition), and at $100 per person (with drink, tax, and tip) it seems excessive for what you get. Still, it’s a very memorable experience to eat here.

Of course the dining room was amazing. The service was also top notch - friendly, attentive, and personal. The pianist was perfect for the setting. The food was good, but not as good as the rest. Buffet style with a good selection of sides and main dishes. The prime rib was wonderful, but the fish and chicken were a bit dry and flavorless. Desserts were also not so amazing, though the lemon bars were delicious! The cheesecake bites were dry and the fruit cup was elastic and not crunchy. All in all, it was an experience though maybe overpriced. The brunch seems a better meal choice.

We hiked Vernal& Nevada falls, went to housekeeping beach then dressed and went over for our reservation. We got a drink at the bar first ($75 +tip) and went to the open room and played cards, very enjoyable! We got a waterfall view table! The ambiance and atmosphere was very nice. The prime rib was excellent. What is hard to swallow is 4 drinks were another $75 plus tip. Tito’s, we’re not talking Hendricks. And I’d do it again! Thought you might like to know prices.

It was OK. I’ve wanted to go there for years. The food and service were good, just nothing was extraordinary as I was expecting for the price points. It’s still worth a visit for to its amazing location and history.

We love the Ahwahnee dining room but were a little disappointed this trip. I believe they had recently opened and perhaps were understaffed. We had to wait past our reserved dinner time to get a table. The waiter was very chatty with another table and ignored many of his other tables. The food was fairly good but some offerings were empty and the rice pilaf wasn't fully cooked. I would have enjoyed a potato dish to go with the prime rib, which was excellent. The ambiance of that dining room is always terrific but this anniversary dinner was a little underwhelming.

This was a mediocre buffet. Food was average at best. Fried chicken tenders? No potatoes only cous cous and rice. One vegetable choice. Deserts looked like out of a box. Asked for a wine list by the glass. Waiter asked what wine i wanted, said cab, merlot or blend. He brought me a merlot and gave me no options. After i ate a salad and was eating my entree he told me they had soup if i was interested? Finally they brought a bread basket and the bread was soggy. The bus boy kept my water filled though. I was warned about this place and did not listen. Please listen to this unless you want a mediocre buffet for $63.

Although the atmosphere is amazing, I definitely would not return when they have the buffet. The selection was not very large and most options left more to be desired. Our waitress barely knew anything and the drinks and wine list, and we couldn’t have ordered another drink if we wanted to because she was impossible to catch. The price they are charging for the buffet is ridiculous and they couldn’t even split our check the way we wanted to!

Wonderful dinner @ the Awhanee. Buffett dinner (due to kitchen renovations), but still excellent food. Fri-tip, prime rib, salmon, assorted veggies & excellent dessert choices. Good for a special occasion!

We had an excellent table in a central alcove where the table was framed by Yosemite Falls. We were told this was Queen Elizabeth’s table when she dined at the Ahwahnee. The kitchen was being remodeled so only a buffet was available. It did not disappoint—huge range of choices, truly something for everyone. Our meal was delightful!

We waited 30+ minutes after our reservation time. When finally seated, it took forever to get a server. By the time we got our first item, a glass of wine, we’d been there an hour+. Definitely understaffed, our server always running. Next disappointment was the food, in a variety of ways. The pumpkin soup was so spicey neither of us could eat it, and I like hot. The buffet was next, broccolini tough and cold. Rolls stale. Other veggies ordinary. Pork roast overdone. And NOTHING was hot, just warmish — the buffet does not have heated serving dishes, and the dinner plates felt like they’d come from the frig. By the time we got back to our table, dinner was lukewarm. One good item was the prime rib, excellent, but those cold plates chilled it immediately. All at premium prices, overpriced even for our SF Bay Area standards. We had a reservation for the next night, but chose not to go. The room is spectacular, but the experience not at all comparable, sad.

I did not care for the buffet dinner concept. I would prefer to order off a menu. Prime rib was excellent. Chicken was cold. Crab cakes had more bread crumbs than crab.

Lovely old hotel in desperate need of a major remodel throughout the hotel. Due to the dining room kitchen being closed for renovation, the dinner quality was mediocre. Prime rib was very tough, but our waiter Malcolm was 5 star excellent. Nice guy, very professional and made us feel welcome. The hotel has the potential to return to its former glory, but it will take strong leadership and $$$.

Let me start by saying my wife and I have eaten at the Ahwanhee at least 8 times over the past 35 years. It has always been a magical place with wonderful food. Our meal tonight was beyond disappointing. Dishes were not refilled, sides were lukewarm, the servers were understaffed and overworked and a table with near us had a screaming 2 year old the entire time were were at our table. They had finished their meal as least 30 minutes before us, and finally were as "Are you finished?" after one of the children at the table ran into a waiter. After complaining to our waiter and the General Manager they only charged us for one meal. Not sure we will go back.

The hotel is worn down. Upholstery is shabby. Water damage on ceilings. The dinner buffet in the beautiful dining room was mediocre. I was expecting much more refined ambience and service as well as food. I hope the current renovation fixes their shortcomings. We had a pre-dinner drink in the bar. Service was excellent, even if the bar furnishings have seen better days. Was considering staying in the hotel overnight but very glad I didn’t.

The dining room is stunning, and the service is gracious. Many of the wait staff are charming and have been at the hotel for many years. However, for the price point, the buffet falls short of the mark. It's not the grand experience it used to be. Worth doing at least once, though.

We had high expectations for this experience, the restaurant is booked at least 2 weeks in advance and has a formal dress code. We specifically made this reservation to celebrate a special occasion and of course, to get to see the historic building. The only reservation I was able to get was at 8:45 pm. Although there is a buffet, they offered us a tomato bisque to start with which was brought from the kitchen, we waited longer than expected for this due to short staffing, once we finished the bisque, I went to the buffet and the salad bar was already being removed without asking our table if we wanted a salad. The whole experience felt rushed from there as we felt like they would start removing all items. The food experience was disappointing as well, as everything was cold, they served us cold, undercooked brisket and prime rib, which we preferred not to finish, and the rest of the food from the buffet was below average for the price ($65). When we raised our concerns to the staff it was quite uncomfortable until the manager came to us and nicely explained that there was construction going on, therefore they were having a rough time with the kitchen and the staffing, but they were working towards resolving these issues, which was nice of her to explain and we appreciated the honesty. However, it would be nice to know this in advance, and lower the expectations, or even limit the service so they can offer a higher quality service to fewer customers, for example, the last reservation could be a little earlier so there is plenty of time for everyone to eat without being rushed to closing time. Unfortunately, we had a really bad experience overall and would honestly not recommend it for now, hopefully, improvements are being made for when they open the kitchen. On the bright side, the dessert choices were good and the waitress was nice.

We ate dinner at The Ahwahnee on Sat., May 18, 2024. We were disappointed. Wine list was good, but it took too long to get. Food was buffet style and only average at best. Service was slow, likely due to inefficiencies. Noise level was too high for much conversation; heard clanging of dishes and utensils throughout meal. Expensive at $63.00 per each for just buffet (serve yourself, some chaffing dishes empty and no servers in sight). Outside our window we had great view of large construction storage container. The dining room decor would be best seen other than meal times; ceiling very high and lovely. We would not return until assured it is more pleasant atmosphere.

We were excited to have the opportunity to dine at the Ahwahnee in Yosemite. I had read many reviews that complained about the buffet service style, so we knew that going in. The problem was not the buffet style of service, but the fact that HALF of the items were not available at any given time. I never got to try the fish. It was unavailable after three tries to the buffet. The food that I did get to try was actually not bad for a buffet. The shrimp dish and the tri-tip steak were the better entrees. All of that said, a $65 buffet has to execute, and they did not. The dining room is amazing, but much of the views are blocked by construction supplies. We are still glad that we ate at this amazing location, but we would not go again.

The food was not that bad, but not at the level we would expect from a restaurant within a 4-star hotel. Moreover, serving this food in a buffet where you need to go to help yourself, this is not what you expect again from such high-standard claiming restaurant... The decor is nice indeed, quiet, but it is far from perfect, with all the ongoing work inside and outside...

The staff was very attentive and the ambiance is spectacular! The food is where it needs some improvement. Buffets are difficult to do well and unfortunately The Ahwahnee didn’t do well. Some of the offerings were empty and never replenished and those that were replenished were sub-standard. The ambiance of the restaurant is fantastic but they need to step up their game in order to get repeat visitors.

We had a family reunion dinner at the Ahwahnee and it was simply lovely. Sitting in that magnificent dining room, listening to the piano player, and enjoying a fine meal was one of the highlights of our trip to Yosemite. The food was delicious - oh that prime rib! And the trout! A big shout out to our server and to the maitre d' who took such excellent care of us. We have been coming to Yosemite for many years and this is truly one of the best ways to spend an evening. We highly recommend dinner here.

Beautiful dining room. One server at the buffet station was quite rude when I asked him if they were bringing out more salad (as it had all gone). He abruptly said in a nasty manner, "I know about this"! I was quite honstly shocked as the table staff were very nice and polite. Loved the buffet food...top notch. Our first time in Yosemite and The Awhanee.

We were seated 20 minutes after our reservation time. It took about 10 minutes for a server to show up at our table. When we finally went to get food, at least 1/3 of the dishes were not available. Most were eventually replenished but not all. The food was average overall. It was certainly far from what we anticipated for the evening that my husband and I were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary with our two children.

It was very expensive for the food you got (buffet - prime rib etc). The wine was good. The service was very average. Prime rib, butternut squash soup and macaroni and cheese was very good. Roasted potatoes were shockingly undercooked. We went for the old scroll lodge ambience, which was satisfying.

This was an expensive disappointment. The carved prime rib was absolutely raw and and unedible. Curried cauliflower was disgusting. The rest was bland. Spent $450 on dinner for a family of 6. The view was blocked by construction metal containers.

This restaurant has an upscale dinner buffet with several options available. The meal was good and there is an extensive wine list as well. Great place for a nice meal inside the Yosemite National Park. There are many large windows so you can see the beautiful scenery outside, and a live pianist playing during the meal.

The Ahwahnee is a special place for me as this is where I was married 25 years ago. This meal was to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Great location, building, and food. Thanks!

Even though the hotel was under restoration construction and our Room wasn’t ready on time, the Ahwahnee did not disappoint! The concierge was able to comp us a meal, the food was delicious! The grounds are beautiful. The staff was helpful. It was my second visit and my moms first. We had the best time! Thank you Steven!

Beautiful room. Would have preferred to order a meal rather than buffet
