The only option right now is a $64 per person buffet. The food was good, not great. We were seated by a busy family of 6 so it was hard to enjoy our dinner quietly. It also made the piano player more difficult to hear. Just wasn’t a relaxing atmosphere after a day of hiking. The service was the best. She worked really hard to make our dinner more enjoyable.

Since the Ahwahnee dining room & kitchen are in renovation, seating is in the back three rooms and the meal is served buffet style. Your server offers soup and a roll before you start the buffet. Six meats, two salads, plenty of sides, especially vegetarian, and a number of small desserts are included for the $63 per adult price. My favorites were the soup, Ahwahnee salad, macaroni & cheese, asparagus, sautéed prawns, chocolate brownie & lemon bars. Prime rib, tri-tip, chicken breasts, chicken fingers & catfish are the main dishes. Our server & assistant were friendly, kept our water glasses filled, brought the tasty cocktails & efficiently removed dirty dishes. We were seated at the “Queen’s table” in one of the side rooms behind a window & I felt a little chilly throughout the meal. Although the Solarium was filled (maybe hotel guests), only two of the nine tables were occupied in our room. I really liked the meal served buffet style because I was able to select what I enjoy rather than selecting a main dish & be served sides I don’t enjoy. We’ve eaten our anniversary dinner at the Ahwahnee dining room for 30 years and this is the first time I was disappointed that the hotel was not as beautifully decorated for Christmas as in years past. However, it’s the Ahwahnee Hotel and it’s one of the most beautiful venues so I still recommend dining there during the renovation.

We love to dine at the Ahwahnee. While the restaurant is undergoing renovations they Great Room serves as a nice alternative. The buffet was excellent. The prime rib and short ribs were excellent, some of the best ever. The numerous sides were all excellent as well. I definitely would eat here again.

Buffet was okay but disappointing when we were looking for made to order. Overall tasty but cooling off of food diminished the experience. Dessert options were very weak. Glad they could be open anyway given rebuilding of kitchen and dining.

We knew that the dining room was closed going into it. We also knew dinner was a buffet. That said, the food was mediocre (which is an understatement), uninspired and so ridiculously expensive ($100/each w/tip and one glass of wine). Never again.

The main kitchen and dining room are closed for renovations. Having said that I was still disappointed with the food. The service was excellent. And of course the meal was rather expensive. I will not eat there until the renovations are complete.

We were very shocked to find the actual dining room closed and put up in a makeshift restaurant. They utilized the back rooms fairly well. No menu served, only a $60 buffet. Meats were very cold. Due to room temperature. Other food selections were pretty well. Macaroni and cheese was excellent.

Dining at The Ahwahnee is not what it once was. Buffet dinner at a high price, not the grand dinning area. Unnecessary $10 valet service.

There was only a 8pm slot open for my extended family of 11 when I made the reservation a couple months ago, however I found at 7pm that they could seat us at an earlier time (wish there was a box to check for seating should an earlier time open and I could have been notified by text). Even thought The Ahwahnee dining room was being remodelled and we ate in one of the large community rooms. It was a grand evening with family and the room and food were amazing! I suspect that there were cancellations due to the remodel and relocation as not all tables were used. The staff was amazing as they worked hard to deliver delicious food. However, my son who has worked at high end and famous restaurants for 10 years and I felt that they were understaffed... probably to to cuts by the new management company. That under-staffing effected the availability of the staff who were slow to respond to requests as well as finding empty containers when we went to the buffet. There was no salad dressing which kinda messed up the start of our meal (it was re-stocked in 5 minutes), there was no cranberry sauce for the Thanksgiving dinner we came for and they ran out of deserts by the time we moved into that most desirable dinner course! Good thing we had not shown up at our 8pm reservation time and showed 45 minutes earlier!

Two words of suggestion if you're thinking about a reservation for dinner at the Ahwahne. DONT BOTHER My husband and I had Thanksgiving dinner at the cost of $115 each. We were seated in a corner next to the server station and on the other side was the temporary wall to house the temporary kitchen. All food was in chafing dishes including the dried out turkey. No one carving turkey meat, no complimentary glass of champagne, nothing. It was no frills, food was mediocre. The turkey was horribly dry in the chafing dish. The only saving grace was Nicolette our server. Come on Aramark you can do much better than this.

We had the buffet in the lounge since the dining room was being renovated. The food was just outstanding! The prime rib was buttery tender, and the various sides were delicious. We loved the ambiance. Something that also stands out is that while it's a fine dining experience, they haven't forgotten that it's in a place where many guests have bee doing outdoor physical activity all day, and it's the perfect blend of bringing your casual self into a "fancy" place without feeling out of place.

Food was not good and way over priced. Not very many options and they did not allow substitutions even though we ate with people who had food allergies. The food had no taste and they had no choices for children. I felt trapped eating here as there is very few options in the park.

Food was very overpriced ($60 for a small dinner buffet). Food was good enough but nothing spectacular (to warrant the high price). A shame the main dining room is closed for renovation. We paid $200 for 2 people for a mediocre dinner (drinks not included), service was also on the slow side considering they aren’t taking your order or bringing food. I was really looking forward to this but definitely not worth the steep price.

Buffet dinner service. Some nights great, some nights mediocre. Breakfast buffet service the same. When not crowded/busy and buffet food full/fresh, food is generally very good. When individual item has been out for quite some time and is almost out, then quality has greatly diminished. Overall generally very good. Great friendly service at all times. In spite of some issues, highly recommend.

Temporary setup during remodel, which was not emphasized during booking. It was a buffet. The ambiance was terrible, many people not following dress code, lots of children watching cartoons on tablets, loud, people walking around to get their food. The food was terrible, like some cheap buffet from 20 years ago, except it was $59.99 per person. Been to the Ahwahnee many, many times through the decades and this was not a good experience. It was my birthday and that is on the original reservation, yet it wasn’t acknowledged. Honestly, we couldn’t wait to leave, even though we love this place.

We are not fans of buffet dinning. Food that is not fresh, and has been sitting did not look fresh. Even bread was not fresh. (This was breakfast). We had all meals after this in the Bar/Lounge, it was much better for us. The service team are great at all venues here, and the view are stunning, and historic. Can’t wait till things get back to normal here.

We made a reservation for my birthday dinner. We arrived an hour early figuring if we couldn’t be seated we would enjoy the lounge area. But we were seated right away which we appreciated. The waiter was not friendly and seemed to not like having us. Though the service was good since it was buffet style it didn’t require much service. The buffet was disappointing. The tri tip was tough and chew. Couldn’t eat what I was given. Went back for the prime rib which was very good though a little rare for my taste. The salads were very average. Nothing special. The vegetables and carbs were just average as well. The deserts were very good. Moist and melted in my mouth. The lemon bars were my favorite followed closely by the brownie which had chunks of chocolate. Overall a disappointment. I have eaten at the Ahwanee in the past and tonight did not measure up to expectations.

Don’t bother until the renovations are complete. There’s only a buffet with a very limited and somewhat odd mix of dishes. Service also mixed. Some competent, most not. The temporary dining room is disorganized and worn. Buffet for two without alcohol $175. Worth $75

Unfortunately the kitchen is being renovated, we ate at the buffet one night and the bar the next. The service people were great. The food was not. I had to return the dog food sandwich at the bar, supposed to be short rib sandwich. Terrible. Very overpriced. The ambience? Well it’s the Ahwahnee so it’s got the old world charm, the piano music, the huge fireplaces. I’m old, so I won’t be back, but I would have booked another time had I known the food would be this awful.

The main dining room was closed for renovation so dining option was a buffet served in the Great Lounge utilizing a temporary kitchen unit on the West Terrace. Salad offering was 2 choices, already dressed with no side dressing offered. The salads were tasteless (and I prefer lightly dressed)! The grated cheese offered for the Caesar was empty and never replenished. However, the prime rib was the best I've ever had. Other side dishes were varied, nice flavors, except they ran out of a few and it took too long to replenish to have a full plate of hot food (it seemed as if they were short of buffet staff). Wine list was sufficient. Table staff was excellent. Didn't partake of the Breakfast offered.

Had the breakfast buffet. While the dining room was closed for renovations, our table placement still captured the rustic beauty and atmosphere of the historic hotel and park. The food is good, our server was lovely. Overall, it was a great experience. The price was a bit much. $32 for the buffet of traditional breakfast food. I understand you’re paying more for the experience than the food but it seemed a little much for me. I’d still recommend as a special occasion kind of meal. The majestic views outside the massive windows make the experience worthwhile.

Ate 2 nights in a row. Felt there should be a more varied food selection. Mostly the same food which was just ok, espresso for the price!
