Please note that The Ahwahnee Dining Room is currently under construction due to the Historic Seismic Upgrade Project. Dining will take place in the Great Lounge while the dining room is inaccessible.

The Ahwahnee Dining Room conveys a feeling of elegance and refinement while maintaining a comfortable, natural atmosphere. The logs of stripped and polished sugar pine, which support the 34-foot-high beamed ceilings, reinforce the rustic ambiance that is reflective of The Ahwahnee’s mountain surroundings.

Buffet food was room temperature, there was a very small salad bar & deserts were mediocre. The salmon and brisket were delicious but the vegetable options were mainly starches. Not a healthy meal overall.

We love The Dining Room at the Ahwahnee, but it is not currently that. During renovations it is a buffet in the special events space. The staff and atmosphere is great as ever, but not quite what we were expecting meal wise.

Our visit was during the renovation of the dining room, so we enjoyed a lovely buffet dinner with Prime Rib, Shrimp, Chicken and many delicious side dishes. The service staff (Yousef & Malcolm) were very accomodating. This was our Wedding Anniversary and they seated us at a table with a wonderful view!

The buffet food was surprisingly good! We enjoyed getting to try most of the items and picking our favorites. The mac & cheese and cheese potatoes were winners as were most of the desserts. Thanks for providing a buffet even during renovations!

We love dinner at The Ahwahnee - even thought the dining room is closed for construction, the temporary setup in the Winter Room / Great Hall / Solarium is still very nice. Construction should finish in April 2024. The food was very good - though it is a buffet so be aware of that - table service is of course great.

This dining room is going through major refurbishment something we were not told. The result is you will not be eating in the dining room but rather in a small area of the great hall room. There is no menu everything is buffet style but you get charged as if you were selecting from a menu. Overall were highly dissatisfied. Not sure how long this setup will last but it looked like they had a long ways to go .

Best meal in the park, the buffet was quality, prawns and prime rib were excellent! They had chicken marie, salmon, and tri-tip also available on the line. Really tasty sides, from scratch mac & cheese. Deserts could have been better but still had good variety.

When I made this reservation, the restaurant was undergoing renovation and we had hoped it would be completed by time of our visit. Unfortunately, it was not completed, BUT we enjoyed the experience with very few patrons at table in front of fireplace with excellent view. Fantastic ambience and service, but we would have preferred the menu options we discovered by visiting their website. We were able to bring our own bottle of bubbly to mark the occasion and were not charged the corkage fee we negotiated with front desk. The hotel accommodated reservations by offering a buffet style experience for flat fee. There was salad and dessert bar (out of croutons but another option at time we made first plate). The entrees included 2 steaks (rare), Mary's Chicken, jumbo grilled shrimp and fish. I did not like the fish, and passed on chicken, but the steak was perfect and the shrimp quite tasty. There was version of cous cous with pilaf that had potential to be quite tasty (I believe it was vegan dish), but it just wasn't there. I felt like since it was buffet style, they should have offered mashed potatoes or even baked potatoes as option. I opted for macaroni and cheese, but it had too much cheese for my taste. The dessert bar was good, we enjoyed different flavors of cheesecake, brownies and lemon bar. I enjoyed the quiet classic dining and the service was excellent, but we both felt that for such a historic luxury hotel, that the food did not meet the luxury standard that we enjoy at home and while traveling.. I would love the opportunity to enjoy a meal when the restaurant returns to regular menu.

The Ahwahnee dinner was so very disappointing. First, it’s a buffet. A poor quality buffet, at that. The food was just not good. Second, the staff was mediocre. Our server was sweet but very disinterested in helping us. The man refilling the serving dishes bumped into me twice and two of the dishes were completely empty of food. Third, one of our group of four was sick all night after eating here, Fourth, we had to pay to valet to eat here because we were staying at Yosemite Valley Lodge and chose to drive. Overall it was a very disappointing experience. I do not recommend this restaurant, although the hotel is beautiful and should be seen.

A few things to know before going - ask to be seated in the nice rooms with a view. We were basically in the hall, not impressed. Also, this is a buffet. We should have looked before going, but it was an overpriced, under delivering buffet. Most wedding buffets are better than this. It just wasn't worth $200 which was our meal and one house wine and one beer from a can.

Built in the 1920s, the ambience is amazing. Though we didn't get to try the menu, the buffet offered was very good. Construction issues had the dining room closed. We would love to go back. Understand that just getting there is a bit of a journey. It's in the middle of a vast National Park.

We wanted to experience dining in this beautiful historic hotel at Yosemite. We knew the spectacular 2story dining room was still being renovated-the Garden Room was still beautiful. The food not so much. Typical breakfast buffet fare that would have been good if individually prepared was steam table soggy. The scrambled eggs were flavorless and texture less. The baked goods looked like they were factory made and baked on site. For $32, very disappointing. On the plus side the service was friendly and the coffee and fresh squeezed OJ were good. Would I do it again? If the main dining room reopens the lovely ambiance would counterbalance the disappointing food. Until then I’d buy coffee and sit in the lobby or outside enjoying the view.

Buffet only choice at dinner; beef, chicken and salmon were extremely dry and I generally like my meat entrees on the dry side but this was a new level. I’m assuming they were just left out too long on the buffet line with no quality control. Other dishes were nothing special. I expected a little better effort and would add it was the worst $60 meal I’ve ever had. I would not recommend and will not be back

Food was excellent but due to retro fitting being done at the hotel the food was served buffet style and seating in two smaller rooms rather than the big elegant dining room. That's why I gave four stars instead of five for overall.

I got an email from the restaurant days before my arrival indicating that the dining room was closed and that only a buffet would be available. Okay.. not what I wanted but I decided to give it a try. What a mistake. Worst experience ever. I showed up for my 7:30 reservation on time and was told I had to wait because there were 2 couples ahead of me. What? I have a reservation but I am waiting in line as if I was a walk in? And… it’s a buffet!! After a wait the host tried to seat me in front of an elevator. I’m not kidding… literally In front of an elevator. There were numerous open tables. I asked to be seated anywhere but there. The host stated that he was just doing his job. My husband and I were flabbergasted. Even a fellow diner chimed in and told the host that it was ridiculous to seat anyone in front of an elevator. My request was ultimately accommodated by an attentive waitress listening to the exchange. After a terrible start, the experience actually got worse from there. The buffet was terrible. Many of the offerings were not replenished and the food was just bad. The final sting came when we received the bill…$180 for 2 buffets, 1 cocktail and 1 glass of wine. Ouch!! Although We laughed at the absurdity of the entire evening if I can save anyone else from this disaster it was worth the time to write this review.

When I booked there was nothing about a renovation happening. I found out through casually talking to someone and the place came up and he told me the main dinning room was closed. The 60 bucks a person buffet was was over priced for what it offered. I've been to good buffets and this was not even close. Your local Chinese buffet would have been better. Really upset that I didn't get the experience that I booked. The staff was very nice and from that I saw the hotel too. There was a pianist playing in the sitting area, that was nice. I hope one day I will be able to come back as I live on the other side of the US, and have the experience that everyone raves about.

The dining room has been subpar since Covid and non-existent since the remodel. While the food was decent, some food is cold or soggy due to the buffet style. It is a little odd to stand waiting for potatoes at a once grand establishment. Sharing utensils and waiting in line for opened air food like at a food bank does not quite justify the oddly high priced experience. We spent $160 including tip for a plate of good and bad food items. This place is a far cry from what I remember in years past.

Our "server" was horrible -- once we opted for no alcohol, he said nothing to us until he presented the bill and asked for my credit card before I had a chance to look at it. It was clear that, for whatever reason, he wanted us gone. Extremely poor. On the other hand, Omar, the person bussing our table and providing water and coffee, was terrific and very attentive.

The restaurant is being repaired so it is not the main dining room but what they have is a buffet meal. The prime rib was raw when they sliced it and the chef was rude. The rest of the stuff was what you would find at hometown buffet. I now know why they gave out discount coupons. Wait till the restaurant is done

We understood that the dining room in the Ahwahnee was undergoing renovation and that our dinner was going to be in the large room that I guess is called the meeting room. This was acceptable, but we were not advised that the meal would be a buffet priced at $59/person. My wife never eats $59 worth of food at any meal so it is likely we would not have made reservations here if we had known. The food was acceptable for buffet food, but the whole experience was less than we had hoped for. As a side note, the check comes showing suggested tips of 18, 20, and 25%! For a buffet where we served ourselves. I suppose that is a standard printout, but it just sort of needled me at the time.
