The Ahwahnee Dining Room is currently serving breakfast and dinner in buffet style service featuring many classic favorites like eggs benedict and a full selection of breakfast favorites. At dinner, enjoy a carving station featuring our famous Prime Rib and more. If you experience difficulty making a reservation through Open Table, please call us directly at (209) 372-1490 so we may assist you.

The Ahwahnee is near completion of a seismic retrofit renovation project in partnership with the National Park Service to preserve this iconic hotel. During the last phase of the project (May - August), the impacted areas will be isolated to the West Terrace and surrounding areas near the Dining Room. This work will result in some obstructed views, and we expect construction noise between 10AM–4PM, Monday–Friday. We have done our best to mitigate any negative guest experiences, though we recognize it may cause inconveniences and conditions. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

    We went there with aTauck tour with Heather. The rooms were ok, but had to take service elevator. The regular elevators weren’t working. (My husband has bad knees). We had the The dinner buffet twice. It wasn’t worth $60+. My fish was overcooked , missing dishes in some spots. The second night the chicken was way overcooked, pork was dry. I couldn’t even cut my fish to eat it! The hotel and grounds were spectacular though!

    The Ahwahnee has gone way down hill. They have been doing their buffet dinners for several years now due to construction and retrofitting. They actually were doing a great job, but this year the food was much lower grade and mediocre. Worst though was the service. It was horrible. Had to ask 5 times to get an iced tea, and several times to get my plate cleared or to get the check. For a buffet these are the main things a server does. When I mentioned my concerns to my young waitress she didn’t even apologize just said “oh well whatever”

    Chef serving at the cutting table in the buffet had an attitude. Meat cuts were very small and when asked for one additional she copped an attitude. This happened with several customers. For the buffet price should never happen!!!

    The hotel is very tired. Seems like there haven been updates in years. It’s kinda dirty. Bathrooms are small and dated, but I’m not sure they care as it’s virtually sold out all summer due to its epic location. The Room is way overpriced for what you get !

    We were surprised by the limited selection offered at the buffet. It’s very expensive for what we ate. The place is beautiful but unfortunately under renovation, so the windows were boarded up with wooden planks and our view was mostly construction equipment… The piano ambiance was much appreciated. We are giving 2 stars solely for the architecture and the pianist, who was excellent.
