The hotel is very tired. Seems like there haven been updates in years. It’s kinda dirty. Bathrooms are small and dated, but I’m not sure they care as it’s virtually sold out all summer due to its epic location. The Room is way overpriced for what you get !

Incredible dining room servers were very friendly and helpful. Food choices on buffet were excellent with great preparation and flavor.

We ate our first meal (dinner) in the dining room. Wood paneling over the lower third of the windows diminished the ambiance somewhat, but the room and service were still spectacular. The food itself was a bit of a disappointment -- limited buffet offerings and nothing particularly creative or interesting. Definitely not a good value at $63 per person. The breakfast the next morning was better. We avoided the buffer (overpriced and similarly limited as the dinner service), but the eggs, hash browns, and bacon ordered ala carte were perfect. Just beware they charge separately for coffee. The rest of our meals were taken at the Ahwahnee Bar. Food was very tasty and service was excellent. Cost was about half the dining room. Offerings were still limited (not full meals) but a much better value from my perspective.

Beautiful historic hotel. It is undergoing construction, which put a damper on our experience. We were seated at a table next to a large window that was boarded up, so we had no view of the outside. They currently only have a buffet dinner. It was very limited on choices and the food was average at best. Definitely not worth the price we paid. Skip the dinner and pop in to see the hotel until the construction project is completed. On a side note, the website was adamant that a dress code would be strictly enforced. The people ahead of us were immediately seated wearing jean shorts, t-shirts, and tennis shoes.

The food was delicious. The ambience was ok. Very different experience between buffet and a sit down dining experience. The views are pretty but nothing that you can’t see from a regular walk around the park. Very much disliked that as a paying customer at the restaurant who spent over $200 that they would not provide the WiFi password so we could call family - apparently they only provide it to hotel guests and there is zero service in or around the restaurant/hotel without it. Overall, would suggest friends/family skip it.

The building is fantastic and worth the trip to explore before or after dinner. The buffet had good soup and salad, but everything else was average at best. Some type of spice mixture on most things and it wasn’t good. We also ate in the bar and our burrata appetizer had things you’d expect like pesto and balsamic, but also a sweet previously frozen berry compote like you would put on ice cream. That had no business being on the plate! The bbq sauce on the spare ribs was not very good, but if you took it off the ribs were good. The corn bread was the best part of the meal. I would not eat there again, but would visit and have a drink or an ice cream from the sweet shop!

The restaurant is buffet style right now. The prime rib was fine but nothing exceptional in the food quality for the money spent. Deserts were mostly tasteless.
