The Admiral Rodney in Loxley is a country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character. Our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

The Admiral Rodney was built during the 1950's, next to the site of another pub called The Rodney, which was demolished at the time. The pub is named after an old local hero, George Brydges Rodney who as an admiral defeated a Spanish fleet in 1780 and a French fleet at the Battle of the Saints in 1782.

With stunning views on the edge of a valley, The Admiral Rodney is a great destination. A cosy retreat, the inn is a good base from which to plan a day in beautiful countryside.

Returned with female group after 2 or 3 years and we were all disappointed with the standard of food served and apart from one young waitress the serving staff were sullen and unhelpful. A sad experience after our many years of enjoying the Admiral Rodney. What has happened?

My recommend would be on friendliness. The staff are very considerate. The food is just about ok. One of our party had to wait because his meal had been burnt. It was good they didn’t serve the burnt portion but it did make for a disjointed experience. In fairness he was offered a free dessert in recompense. I guess accidents can happen but we didn’t leave thinking we must return in the near future,

Nothing for vegetarians. Ok if your vegan plenty to choose from. Over priced Sunday dinner

One of my local pubs. Staff are extremely helpful, polite and friendly. Maybe the meals are a bit pricey but the quality is invariably top-notch. In summer dining out is a great experience; the views across the Loxley valley are just wonderful.

I was celebrating my birthday with family,it was an excellent evening,both food and service ,really enjoyable evening.Will definitely come again .

Extremely disappointed! Took my mother for an early Mother's Day treat and was so disappointed. First of all our on-line booking through open table was not on the Admiral Rodney's list of bookings. They did find us a table but then we waited so long (10 past 7 from 6pm) for our main courses we had to ask where they were. As if by magic they appeared, having probably been under a lamp for half an our. The presentation was a disgrace and not to the standards I expect from the venue. We ordered Hunters Chicken. It had a piece of what tasted like plastic ham on top of a piece of chicken with a little pot of BBQ sauce with a few chips thrown on the plate. No sign of any cheese. Definately not Hunters Chicken. On telling the person on paying they just said it's because they had been busy due to the weather being nice! Maybe a sign should say this on future nice days!

We have made many trips to the admiral Rodney as this is our local. However our trip on Christmas Eve will be one I will not forget. The service was not brilliant as we were waiting quite a long time for food in a not very busy restaurant. The mushroom startee was not very nice at all and my steak maib was ridiculously chewy, very hard to swallow. We was given a desert menu yet waited about 30 minutes before giving up on someone coming over and instead went to the till to pay instead. Also felt the manager was a bit snappy and rushed. £115 for below average food for 4 people is not ideal either. Anyway the real problem came on Christmas day when all 3 out of 4 of us were been sick all day long ruining our Christmas and only just starting to recover 3 days later. Kids couldnt even open their presents until boxing day they were that poorly and I would have much rather had my Christmas dinner than this not very good Christmas eve meal. I am very disappointed and think next year we will have to avoid our usual tea here as it ended up ruining Christmas for us. Again paying £115 for a meal for 4 you expect 5* but I would have to rate this 1* I am not surprised the pub was looking empty this year. Very dissatisfied customer.
