Unfortunately, The Admiral did not meet our expectations. We ordered one of the local cheeses, Bibb lettuce salad, scallops, lamb and pork belly. Of all the dishes, the cheese with apricot spread, pecans and crostini was the most remarkable. Salad was a bust - rather plain. Scallops, though good, were nothing special. Pork belly was average. The lamb was extremely disappointing. All in all, a decent experience; however, would not return for a second visit.

The Admiral was a nice surprise! Not much to look at from the outside, but nice and cozy ambience on the inside. Nice mix of diners. Service was attentive. Interesting dining options. The food was nicely presented. My only negative was that the scallops I had for dinner were slightly gritty, which happens sometimes. I'm sure the restaurant would have offered me another meal option, but I chose not to comment to the server. All in all, a nice evening.

Our card was swiped twice at the restaurant and cloned. We had to dispute the second charge and froze our card. Not something you would expect from a professional establishment

Went to The Admiral based on the recommendation of a friend, and he didn’t steer us wrong. Food was excellent, creatively prepared and presented. Charcuterie was a wonderful mix of meats, cheeses, grilled bread and preserves. Grilling the bread for charcuterie makes such a difference. We shared several items from the appetizers and small plates and nothing disappointed. Short ribs were especially delicious

We were not expecting an A+ experience on a Sunday night but that was what we got. Food, service, table, advice, attitude make the Admiral a gem. Consistently excellent, this restaurant is what we would call a "sure thing"

Never fails to impress and intrigue. I dreamt about the Krispy Kreme bread pudding. Love the atmosphere and the fact that it still feels like a local vibe in a town of tourism.

I always love The Admiral, and I always like taking visitors there. My recent guest grew up near Asheville, so seeing The Admiral Transformed was especially surprising for her.

The food was outstanding, and now I get to tell people I had cardoons there!

Our third time dining with The Admiral. All smooth sailing. The food is excellent, and the service is attentive but relaxed. As vegetarians, my wife and I are always surprised by the creative approach and care taken by the chef when developing unique flavors and unexpected combinations. Do yourself a favor and book a table. But book well in advance so as not to miss the boat.

The Admiral is an Asheville classic. Because it is very popular we would suggest going on weekdays during non-peak hours. Food and service are extraordinary. The ambience is simple, casual, and refined.

The scallops small plate was nothing but 3 scallops, some jalapeño. Charge $5 for bread. Chicken had too strong smoke flavor. Won't return.

Pretty disappointed in the food. Fried oysters we heavily breaded, many of the undersides still saturated in oil - the aioli was strongly flavored, which further contributed to the oysters being lost. Roasted local beets were decent, not bad nor something to write home about. Beef tartare was another disappointment, primarily due to the beef being placed on another strongly flavored aioli, making it impossible to enjoy the delicate and subtle mixture of quail egg and tartare.

We decided to eat here to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary and we're so glad we did. The cocktails were delicious, the food was amazing and we only wish we'd ordered more of it! We'll be coming back here next time we're in Asheville.

Our first experience with the Admiral and it met our highest expectations. Two couples with one member of each celebrating a birthday this week, and we appreciated the chance to talk to Drew and the little extra he added to the celebration.

We've explored many of the Asheville restaurants over the last few years, but this was our first time at The Admiral. We were extremely impressed. Cool low key interior. Good was amazing - some of the best I've had among all the renowned Asheville restaurants. And most notably the service was fantastic. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive, and very helpful with suggestions and answering our questions. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

The Admiral is one of our favorites. My wife and I just made the drive from North Myrtle to have dinner for 6 birthdays in a row now. This place is very progressive and up to date when it comes to food. If you are fancy pants place with simple food and fancy decor, you should probably go to the biltmore

I can see why they are rated # one in ASHVILLE. we shared lots of plates, enjoyed them all. It is not a fancy place, but has a lot of charm, not very big, so reservations are a must, but I think open seating at bar, which was full.
