Love this place, always consistently good food and service.
This place is such a hidden gem in west Asheville! Such amazing flavors and unique concepts for food! We always come here every time we come to town!
Delicious food and fun vibe. I highly recommend it.
Love it every time!
The dinner was really great...everyone really enjoyed it! My only issue was that it was rather warm inside (a/c was subpar) and a warm, muggy night outside.
We (my husband and I)shared 4 courses and were comfortably full by the time we received the bill. Pear/chèvre salad, mussels, pork chop, and chocolate pudding. The pork chop was amazing!
Fun night for all of us!
P.s. so glad that they have round tables; makes for easier conversation with six people
Excellent service and the food was exceptional, a very enjoyable evening and a place that can be recommended to friends and family
Service was outstanding for a party of 6.
Pate was great and pork chop cooked perfectly.
Everyone in the group agreed it was a great dinner!
Not sure if there was an ownership change here or what but this went from being one of the best in Asheville to somewhere I won’t go again. Super unfortunate.
So refreshing to be able to dine in a space that has good lightening, food, service, and not too loud to enjoy conversation. This would be my local restaurant if I lived here. Sweet little bar area and patio as well.
A Must go to restaurant when you are in the Asheville area..
Our favorite place in Asheville. Amazing food that blows your taste buds away. Flavors are creative and expertly balanced. Cocktails are the best we've ever had anywhere. Love the Dark and Stormy!
The Admiral is a MUST for anyone visiting Asheville! The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the pork chop only because my friend recommended it. (I haven't eaten a pork chop in 20 yrs, because I don't particularly like them.) But it was amazing!!! The desserts are very limited. Only 3 from which to choose. The chocolate pudding was very good. I can't wait to go back!
Super fresh and delicious—-grilled peppers with feta cheese was exquisite- mussels amazing!
Amazing! Would go back again! Food was fantastic, service was great and ambience was perfect.
Excellent meal and service could not have been better. We had a lovely time and will certainly return.
Great food, service and vibe. You really feel like you are in a terrific local restaurant.
Food and service were amazing!
Staff is on top of things and when a glitch occurs they are quick to respond and make right. The food was quite good and they have an excellent wine selection , though I would love to see more wine by the glass offered.
Everyone should try the signature Steak Tartare, but leave room for the Duck Leg, Gnocchitti and smoked fish.
For desert the Chocolate Pudding cannot be beat!
Recognize it is a smaller restaurant which is part of its charm, but service was a bit slow and long pauses between courses. Also understand portions can be smaller at nice restaurants which focus on quality rather than quantity after living & dining in Chicago for many years, but the portion-to-price ratio was quite small. I was left wanting more of a couple well executed dishes, but they were gone quickly, especially when sharing. A few dishes were over salted. Dessert menu was minimal, but had a nice selection of digestives, fortified and dessert wines. Good cocktails to start the meal and an adventurous wine menu which was a positive of the meal.
Good food, noisy room. Laid back service.
Great food & service
Wow, what a great meal. Highly recommend visit The Admiral when in Asheville. Outstanding meal!
It has been 2 years since I have been to the Admiral. It was one of my favorites but became impossible to get a table.
I visited tonight. I was excited to come back. However, something has changed. This was a shadow of its former self.
A wonderful restaurant in every way.....food was excellent, the ambiance is funky and fun, our waiter was very well informed and prices were decent for such a quality venue....
We too are in the service industry, and don’t get to go out for dinner much. It’s so nice to know we can come to the Admiral on a Sunday evening after a long day, and know that we’ll be welcomed, even though we take the last reservation time slot. Bottle of rose suggested was perfect with the most delicious foie gras!
We celebrated our anniversary and the chef sent out two special small tastings while we were enjoying our appetizer and dessert. Each time we were wished a happy anniversary by the staff and chef. It was a nice touch and the tastings were unique and delicious.
Originally the Admiral was a reliably great dining experience. Unfortunately it's become overpriced for merely average fare. The small plate gnocchetti (mini gnocchi) were more like Cornnuts, dry and tough, with other ingredients competing for flavor rather than blending together. Likewise the Asian pear came with a mere 3 spinach leaves but plenty of walnuts and goat cheese. It tasted overall plain and not worth the price. Points for great service but otherwise a disappointing dining experience.
Fantastic birthday dinner! Great atmosphere and every drink and dish we ordered was delicious. Very friendly and attentive staff. Definitely recommend stopping in here for a nice meal!
Loved it start to finish.
We come here every year when we take a vacation in Asheville. Never disappoints!!
The Admiral used to be a well known secret value for locals. It is not a value at all now with tourist prices and small portion size. The amount of succotash that my husband received was maybe 2 cups. The arugula salad was over salted. My okra was a tiny portion. Go to the copper Crown in East Asheville for better tasting food and adequate portions.
The Admiral was the highlight of our Asheville trip. Every item was delicious, the service was attentive — I cannot think of one area for improvement. The mushroom succotash can make me never desire to eat meat again. This is a must stop!
We had a great experience at The Admiral. With all the different restaurant choices in Asheville we rarely look to eat at the same place twice on our trips to the city. However, The Admiral will definitely get another visit. The food lived up to the hype and the service was outstanding. Next time we'll have to check out the outside seating once the temps go down.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Asheville! The food is excellent with interesting dishes etc. They also have a very good wine list. Love this place!
We were stunned by the food and atmosphere. Everything was perfect for my partner’s 40th birthday dinner. We couldn’t ask for more.
We are new to Asheville and decided to spend our 6-year wedding anniversary at the Admiral, and it lived up to the occasion. The cocktails and wine were both exceptional and unique, right down to the skewer of candied grapefruit rind in the mescal drink and cocoa bitters in the Manhattan. I think we ordered every item from the vegetable section of the menu and would do it again. We trusted the server, Jesse on all recommendations and he was spot on. Atmosphere made me feel special and part of something very cool.
I booked this table by phone from NY. We were seated overlooking the open kitchen. When I asked the hostess if there was another table she was curt and very short with me. When I asked about a wine she told me to look at the wine list with an attitude. A good hostess can set the mood in a restaurant. It was very obvious that we weren’t her regulars and she couldn’t have cared less if we were happy or not. The food took a long time to be served but it was delicious
Wine list printing was too small. It would have been nice to have some lower cost wine. Proportions were good. Food good and looked attractive. The menu had really changed since a couple of years ago. Menu seemed limited.
