The 94th Aero Squadron - Columbus
The food was delicious!! I had the sizzling steak and it came to the table sizzling on a bed of mushrooms and onions. My kids had Chicken tenders & fries, and salmon with fries and mashed potatoes. My husband enjoyed his New York strip and mixed vegetables. The drinks were good, there were three gas fireplaces going, we enjoyed watching the sun set and the lights at the airport come up. We all enjoyed looking at the decorations, it reminded me a lot of the White Christmas movie set.... my favorite Christmas movie! The owner/or cook, not sure which came out to ask how everything was. The staff was wonderful’. I can’t say enough good things about the wonderful evening we just had! My husband wanted to sit and hang out in the warm environment and watch the planes fly in, a very relaxing evening.
Have been going here for years and love this place!!! Have always had great service and great food. Not a single complaint ever. We just love it.
A very fun Valentine's Day dinner experience complete with fresh flowers brought by our waitress, and dancing to live music from The Rick Brunetto Big Band.
I wish I would have know.My husband and ten year old son went there for Valentines Day dinner. Family was dressed to the nines. Looks kinda cool from the outside. My first clue should have been the uneven brick walk way I almost wiped out on. We got to the hostess station where we had reservations. Lol. The hostess was standing by the a small fire place to keep warm. Then she walked us around to a table by window. Which might have been a little romantic and fun had it not been 47 degrees in there. She moved us again because I told her it was cold and drafty by the window. So she took us to the back of the restaurant which wasn’t much better. They had three fireplaces going and it was not comfortably warm in there at all. We sat at our table as the waitress brought our cokes.
As I started to look around at all the memorabilia and tchotchkes that hung on the wall and the poor condition of this place. I was astonished to see the prices they had the audacity they wanted to charge for their very basic menu. this place reminded me of Gordon Ramsay‘s kitchen nightmares. There’s shabby chic and then there’s just shabby. The booths had holes in the seat. The curtains that were hanging in the one pane window in the dining room didn’t match. The things that hung over our table were covered in dust and cobwebs. And they hung a old plunger and what looked like to be a bed pan in the dining room. My husband ordered the steak which he said was day and flavorless, I got the chicken scallopini which was mushy and dry that came with seasonal bland veggies and boring mashed potatoes, my son got a hamburger. To which he said it had old lettuce on it. About the only thing this place got right were the Cokes and the server was nice enough. Needless to say dinner at the 94th Aero squadron was not exactly what I envisioned for Valentine’s Day. All I can say is, Thank you Dave Thomas for having the Wendy’s drive through open for VDay.
The 94th Aero Squadron has been in Columbus longer than most of us have been alive. My parents used to go dancing there before I was born. The fact that I had never been there was merely because it was never the first place so thought about when I wanted a fancy dinner. Even my father eventually found The Clarmont to be better food and company at the same price point. I eventually just started going there too until it closed down a decade ago. Now I generally think if Smith & Wolensky for a fancy night out and this visit to Aero Squadron has not changed my mind.
The atmosphere at Aero Squadron is great, but that is all you’re getting for your money. The service was good, but you always expect good service. The food pretends to be top-notch but it’s really not even as good as what you can get at Texas Roadhouse...for three times the price.
And skip the desert, the carrot cake was the only decent offering and for $8 it was barely bigger than a serving of Oreos.
Great time, great food, great service! Always a very quiet nice ambiance to spend an evening with my wife!
We enjoyed our meals and the decor and atmosphere was warm and inviting. Could use some interior touch ups here and there but not bad.
Food was very good and staff was great. Wish the dessert menu had been alittle more extensive. Overall I would go again.
Had to send my sirloin steak back twice because it was so burnt that it left a horrible taste in my mouth for the rest of the day. Just had to have them take it off my bill because I didn't want to wait yet again since my husband was done eating and I still didn't have an eatable steak. I do want to mention that my husband got the steak and shrimp and his was really good and the sides were good too. The service wasn't what I would think for a restaurant at that price point either. I can say that the atmosphere was pretty cool. It was definitely what I was looking for for my husband because he is a veteran and very into history.
We always enjoy ourselves at the 94th, and as long time foodies we look forward to their Sunday Brunch. Admittedly the pandemic has placed a restriction on buffet style dining, but with that now having been lifted we look forward to the resumption of the traditional brunch settings. Nevertheless, the menu offerings in the interim have been well done and served with a polite friendliness.
Amazing experience. I understand why the smaller menu bc of Valentine’s Day but wish could have had the full menu.
Great ambience. Beautiful view of the airplanes taking off. The food was fair and a bit expensive.
We had a very enjoyable dinner for restaurant week/early Valentines. We had always wanted to try 94th Aero Squadron out, and we are glad we did. We will be back in the warmer months to try out the patio area and their full menu!
Was very disappointed with our visit to 94th Aero Squadron. My son did not get his drink that he ordered. The salad came out missing tomatoes, cheese, and croutons. The salad came out with only onions and lettuce. The food was cold. We talked to the manger who was very defensive and said that they were very busy that night and not normally so they were struggling. I won't go back. It was not worth the price we paid for our meal. The drinks that we did get were good. The manager stated that they had a new bartender that hasn't bartended before. For a brand new bartender, the drinks were the best thing of the meal.
The atmosphere, service, food, and music was fantastic!
Food was bland. Chicken was burnt. Waiter never came back to check on us after food or to refill/order drinks. Dessert was terrible
We chose the restaurant to support restaurant week in Columbus & because they offered prime rib. My husband & I both ordered it & what we received lacked any typical juices, taste or consistency of a slice of prime rib of beef. We were not sure what it actually was so we ate about half & brought the rest home for our pups. The chocolate peanut butter dessert was very good but the chocolate cake was on the dry side. Sorry for the harsh comments but I wanted to be truthful. The meal should have been well worth the $30 if only the prime rib would have been real but based on what we were given, we felt it was not worth the price. Sadly we won’t be coming back.
It was quite cold in the restuarant, so cold it made my meal get cold fast. We were seated right in entrance area an everytime the door opened it got colder.
We had not been here in several years and went for restaurant week. We both got prime rib and the food was very good. Service was great. We'd go again.
The food was excellent! The manager and chef stopped at our table. The servers were meticulous in understanding and ensuring that all the additions and specialty items were included on our food and provided at our table.
We had the Prime Rib and the meat was ice cold. In addition it lacked any seasoning and tasted like it came out of a package. The dessert Carrot Cake tasted like it came out of a box.
We had really looked forward to visiting this restaurant.
We were seated for 15-20 minutes before anyone came to our table. We were about to leave when the staff finally noticed we had not been helped. For how few tables were occupied I was surprised at the lack of attention to a customer.
I thought there may have been some discount offered on our final bill but the only recognition was an apology from our server. No one from management ever approached our table.
Beautiful hidden gem. Excellent food and older military and aeronautical memorable. Warm cozy and historical feeling with the multiple fireplaces and architecture. Love this place
It was fine. I went with friends during restaurant week. My food was ok, wasn't great by any means. None of us were excited about the food honestly. The bathroom had a weird smell. The parking lot and restaurant were almost empty which is never a good sign.
It had been awhile since last being at this restaurant and, based on the fact that there were no cars in the parking lot, it almost appeared that the restaurant was closed.
Inside there were no other diners so the hostess was gracious and seated us where it was very warm and comfortable--there were no other diners-which made it nice as we were there to have a nice quiet dinner where we could talk without shouting.
Service was okay--prime rib was delicious. Bread--had to pay for a second small loaf--was hard and crusty. Baked potato toppings not at all appetizing--had an old taste.
All in all, we enjoyed our time there.
This could have been the worst meal I've ever paid for. The prime rib was warm at best and the "au jus" was brown gravy. The filet that my wife had was over cooked and tough. Don't waste your money here!
We had a great experience with the Sunday Brunch! It was a limited menu compared to what was shown online, but there was a nice variety of options. Our food was delicious, it was reasonably priced, and the atmosphere was great! We got to sit right by a fire and the noise level (even with the classy music that was playing) was at a minimum so we could actually enjoy our conversation. What a nice switch from so many of the chain restaurants!
Filet was fatty and not cooked to order. Waitress was arrogant and lazy. Food was something you’d get at Golden Corral or cafeteria. Will never go back! Happy New Year!
During these trying health times. The 94th Aero Squadron is a wonderful restaurant. Their food is excellent and the waitstaff, cooks, etc are very attentive and caring. We love going there for special occasions. Keep up your great work and thank you!
Interesting decor, good overall experience
Great food, great service and very reasonable.
I was here a little under a decade ago, and my oh my has things going south. The food was bland and lukewarm, and where I sat smelled sulpheric and sewer like. They only had 2 servers in the building.
The food quality was horrendous, and overcooked and bland.
The best part of my dining experience was the AWESOME HOSTESS at the front of the house.
The place needs updating and it smells moldy. It was veterans day and even the 20 dollars off could not salvage my experience. I will not bring anymore guest here until they improve.
Awful. Run down. Cold. Smelled. Service awful food worse
Shrimp and scallops was delicious but only had 3 Shrimp and 5 small scallops. Strip steak was prepared medium well instead of medium. There was a wedding reception that had very loud music that made conversations challenging
We didn’t know it was sweetest day when we made the reservations. The restaurant had roses for all the ladies and had a reservation card with my name on it which was a nice touch. Great specials for the holiday and we were very happy with our experience. It is an older crowd but it was enjoyable.
Love this place. Kind of out of the way but well worth finding. Ambiance is outstanding.
It’s was just my wife and I plus another gentleman eating alone. For being an empty restaurant you would expect a bit more attention from the waitress especially for a $80 meal. My wife loves the prime rib but stated this trip it lacked flavor.
When we first got there, we were the only guests in the venue. Very nice and quiet. Scenery is amazing and decoration was fascinating. Our waitress was training a young lady and both of them were very nice and did a great job. It’s easier to quickly list the issues instead of explaining in paragraph form:
1. After ordering beer, we were asked if we wanted a cold glass. We agreed, they came out warm glasses that appeared dirty(had black rubber circular pieces on them?)
2. The blinds were vibrating on the window which created a horrible noise.
3. We asked for medium/medium rare steaks... all of them came out well done(granted I bought the sizzler, so that steak would probably be harder to cook correctly)
4. My wife’s first drink was watered down, literally watered down. Her second was fantastic though.
I have personally been to this venue multiple times and my 3 other guests had not. We went for my birthday and I was thoroughly shocked how bad this place has gotten. I hope we just had a bad experience and not everyone has the issues we did.
I was a little disappointed that they, on their web site they had their brunch buffet menu, but when we arrived we had to order off a menu.
Also, it was freezing inside. We said something about it to our waitress and she said she didn’t have control of the thermostat. We had to eat with our coats on!
My husband and I have always loved eating at the 94th. This was my first time trying brunch there. Due to Covid its not the normal buffet style, but there is a menu with both breakfast and lunch items. Our food was all very good and the service was great!
Food was good slow Service they did not have a table ready for us on our reservation they did not realize we put a reservation in until we got there they only have one server working for the amount of tables that was there but the food was an 7 out of 10
